. thinking out loud #81 .

June 5, 2014 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 93 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. Today is a special day! It’s one of my dearest blends’ birthday… so Happy Birthday, Meredith! If you don’t already read her blog, you really should start. Not only is she a speedy runner, a talented writer, and an amazing mother, but she’s got a good head on her shoulders when it comes to all things relating to food and fitness, which can be hard to find in today’s diet mentality obsessed world. So yeah… head on over and say hi and happy birthday!

Meredith

2. And since we’re talking birthdays, I’m going to use this as an opportunity to wish Mister Arman an early Happy Birthday since I’ll be gone on his actual birthday on Sunday. Way to be born on Blend weekend, guy! Love you anyways…

Arman

3. Speaking of Blend… I’m leaving today! Depending on when you read this, I’m either packing like the procrastinating nutcase that I am, bored at the airport, bored on a plane, or in Utah hugging the crap out of some of my favourite people. This weekend is going to freaking ROCK, and I’ll be sure to take tonnes of pictures so that I can recap it for you when I get back. Omg… excited… so much so that I couldn’t sleep yesterday and ended up wide awake at 3:30 AM 😯

4. And now that we’ve got all that out of the way… on to the randomness!

RF Snail

RF Abercrombie

RF Plane Cookies

RF Hitchcock

1. Jealous! I’m lucky if I manage 6 hours…
2. Un.freaking.believable. But also apparently true.
3. Ugh! This would have been useful to know when I was shopping for tickets for Blend!
4. That wouldn’t jive with this girl, seeing as I always prefer to read the book first.
5. … so think twice the next time you think about doing it!

5. And on another random tangent… I can’t believe more people didn’t choose McDonald’s as their favourite fast food fries when I asked in yesterday’s post. You guys are nuts! I know they’re nothing fancy, but there’s still something about McDonald’s fries that makes me weak in the knees. Especially when dunked in sweet and sour sauce.

Dipping Fries

6. I’ve been racking up free drinks at Starbucks lately (thank you, daily habit), and since they expire after a certain amount of time, I figured I should use one on something a little fancier than my regular Ameircanos. I decided to have a cappuccino, and was sadly disappointed with it. How was I so obsessed with these things back in the day? And why don’t I like them anymore? I had to chase it with a passion iced tea to make myself feel better.

Passion Iced Tea

7. Speaking of coffee… have you ever picked up your coffee cup while staring at something else, brought it to your lips, and discovered that your aim was completely off and you didn’t manage to line your mouth up to the opening in the lid? And instead of looking down to correct your mistake, you just blindly rotate the cup hoping you’ll strike gold? Only to keep being way off and looking like a goober in the process? Welcome to my life.

8. Remember my fruit fly problem? Well, they seem to have disappeared as mysteriously as they appeared. And here I was getting ready to wage war with some of the awesome suggestions you guys gave me. Apparently a small cup of apple cider vinegar and a few drops of  dish soap is supposed to work wonders. I’ll be waiting, flies… do your worst.

9. That Egg and Veggie Quinoa Pie I teased you guys with yesterday? The recipe’s been posted over on Savory Style, so go check it out!

Egg and Veggie Quinoa Pie4

10. So I just realized that the last time I posted to Instagram was in the beginning of May. Oops? I really have no excuse except to say that my phone has gotten so old and slow that doing anything on it has just become painful. I don’t have time to wait for you to load for 30 seconds, only to have you crash 2 seconds later! Stupid thing. My phone… not you guys. Nevertheless, I’m going to start trying to share more pictures, especially from this weekend while I’m away. Make sure you follow me if you wanna see!

So I was one of the lucky folks you hugged the crap out of at blend. I’m glad.

I can’t remember the last time I ate McDonald’s, but when I used to frequent those places, their French fries were always my favorite. Probably all that delicious salt.

I love the frittata. What a creative crust too! A protein powerhouse made with whole foods. Be still my heart.

The dipping sauce makes the fries for me. Sour cream (back when I could) and honey mustard. Let me show you weak in the knees πŸ™‚
What the what? Abercrombie, just another reason to avoid you.
Starbucks passion iced tea- I’m so trying that this afternoon! As for 7., yeah, welcome to my life, too.

I’m a huge fan of coffee and particularly my daily grande Americano from our Starbucks. I used to take their cappuccino too, before I moved over to their Americano a couple of years ago. I was thinking about having a Cuppuccino today, first one in all that time, but I think I would be sadly disappointed too, so I’ll stick with what I like! Thanks!

Love following your blog by the way. πŸ™‚

I don’t think the thing about cookies and prices is entirely true. Sometimes I keep checking tickets I have no intention of buying again and again just because I’m bored. Prices fluctuate a lot in general, especially if the airline is foreign and ticket price also depends on currency exchange rates. They go up and down all the time. Well, they stop going down if some travel agent suddenly decides to book half a plane. It happened with my Christmas flights a day after I booked the tickets.

I used to love McD when I was little. I still go there when I need comfort food but it’s nowhere as delicious as I remember it.

I remember absolutely loving having McD’s chicken nuggets with the sweet and sour sauce, so I can only imagine the goodness of dipping fries in there.
I KNEW I never liked Abercrombie. Such gyps.
Have so much fun at Blend!!! I would have absolutely loved to go, but perhaps next year… πŸ™‚

I’ve been drinking my coffee black for most of my coffee-drinking life, and I can’t stand cappucinos/lattes! They’re so…watered down (or I guess I should say “milked-down”). Then again, since I’m drinking black it must be good quality so I prefer my home-brewed stuff. Starbucks is okayyyy, if they have a dark roast. I’m a picky Eunice, I know.

Have a fabulous weekend at Blend! Take lots of pictures for us!

Have a great weekend at Blend!!! And I think cappuccinos are hit or miss based on baristas (as any other drink). I do love Starbuck’s espresso, though, so it’s Americano for me! And I definitely use my tongue to find the little hole (TWSS) HA! Sorry, I had to do it.

That is really sick about the Abercrombie thing. I am glad that I no longer shop there. Also… thank you for reminding me that I STILL need to try the fries dipped in sweet and sour thing! I definitely think that McDonald’s has some of the best fast food fries, but my favorites are probably from Hardee’s…distubring, I know.

Can we please just get rid of Abercrombie already? Not a good company whatsoever, clearly.

And the McD’s fries thing…nope. If I’m going to do fast food fries, I like Arby’s…curly fries for the win! Although truth be told, I will always, always choose onion rings over fries.

I love McD’s fried until they changed their oil like 10 years back or whenever that happened…they became less salty and no transfats I think…anyway, I remember loving them and now they’re just not the same. For the best though, I’m sure!

That Abercrombie fact is unfathomable! Growing up my mom would never allow me to shop there and I was also so mad about it, but now I’m so happy I never gave them a dime. I’m not the biggest quinoa fan but I bet that recipe would change my mind – but eggs and cheese on anything and I’m sold πŸ™‚
