. freestylin’ .

June 21, 2013 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 94 Comments

I usually have a pretty good idea of where I want to go with a post. An idea. A direction. A killer opening line… Today, though? I’ve got nothing… nothing aside from a caffeine-induced high that’s making me incredibly chatty, anyway. I mean, I’ve got a list of things that I could talk about, but nothing I really want to talk about, ya know? And you would think that would encourage me to just take a day off from posting, but I’ve kind of become addicted to you guys…

It’s crazy. Blogging has become such a huge part of my life that it’s hard to imagine going without it. I know I went through my fair share of rough patches with blogging (hello two extended absences), but I feel like I’m finally in a good place with it… even if I occasionally can’t think of anything to say. So on that note, I’m just going to let the thoughts flow and see where we end up. I hope you’re ready for some freestylin’…

[youtube=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymNFyxvIdaM&w=560&h=315″]

I’ve gotta say, life’s been good to me lately. I mean, I did wake up with a pretty impressive zit on my chin this morning, but I suppose it could be worse – the dang thing could have been on the tip of my nose. And besides, it’s hard to feel down when you’ve got a gorgeous breakfast in front of you…

Skimpy Breakfast

I kid, I kid. But admit it… I scared you for a second there, didn’t I? No? Not at all?!? Bah! Fine… you know me better than I thought…

Apple Almond Oats

Oats topped with plain Greek yogurt, homemade applesauce, almond butter, and cinnamon.

And yes, I realize that I talk about breakfast a lot, but that’s mainly because a) it’s my favorite meal of the day, and b) it’s what’s usually sitting in front of me while I write up my posts. Although I suppose that kind of reasoning would mean that I could talk about makeup too, since there’s a lot of that lying around as well…

Makeup Mess

Welcome to my perfectly organized chaos… Blogging and getting ready for the day – multitasking at it’s finest. And the pig? Totally responsible for my current high. But let’s go back to the crispy rice cereal for a second…

Crispy Rice Cereal

I’m actually hoping to whip up a batch of rice krispie squares this weekend. They used to be one of my favorite treats when I was a kid (read: I could go through an entire batch in a single day), but it’s been a good long while since I’ve actually had one. This is not okay. The problem is… I don’t have any marshmallows, so it looks like I’ll be making one of those almond butter and honey versions that I’ve seen floating around the web. Are those any good? I’m skeptical when it comes to messing with the classics, but we’ll see how that ends up turning out.

And you’ll never guess where I ended up last night. The mall… Sephora, more specifically. Will you believe me if I don’t post any pictures? No? #Proof or it didn’t happen? Fiiiiiiiine. Just a second while I go grab some shots… Geez you guys are demanding *grumbles and walks off*

Sephora Shopping

Happy Tees

I originally went in to buy a bottle of Urban Decay’s makeup setting spray because I was almost out of mine, and apparently I needed the Tarte bronzer as well. Who knew. The pink makeup bag is from Victoria’s Secret, and the tees are from Old Navy. They make me smile like a goofball.

On that note, I hope this post managed to get a smile out of you. I meant what I said about being totally smitten with you guys… Aaaaand I’m going to end it there before I get all sappy and embarrass myself.

Happy Friday, friends!! 😀

. – . – . – .

If we were chatting over breakfast, what would you be having?
Are you a fan of Rice Krispie squares? Any favorite recipes?
First thought that pops into your head when I say… BANANA.

Where can I get a box of that cereal?! I miss rice krispie treats!!
That pic teacup is still adorable and would be sitting with me if I was eating breakfast with you (because I always have tea with/for breakfast and would not be above stealing that adorable cup!)

okay not really because that would be mean 🙂

And you say Banana I think Meghan!

If we were eating breakfast together, I’d definitely be stealing bites out of both your bowls. Hello, irresistible childhood throwback (they may be “boring,” but Rice Krispies were my favorite mom-approved “healthy” cereal) and gorgeous oat/applesauce/AB mess (then again, when are your creations *not* gorgeous?) Okay, I kid. I wouldn’t steal; I’d ask politely. And if you said no, I’d probably make myself a stack of banana pancakes, or cinnamon toast and an omelet stuffed with cheese. In all seriousness, though, my breakfasts have been a bit abnormal this past week (think bars and hard boiled eggs – meh) because I’ve been traveling. Needless to say, I’m pretty excited that I’ll be returning to the comforts of my own kitchen tomorrow. 🙂

Love the cute Old Navy tee’s. Oh, and first word that comes to mind: peanut butter. Surprise! 😉

For not having a direction initially this post turned into a little beauty! I have only been blogging for a little while and can admit that I too am pretty addicted 🙂 I also multitask more than I care to admit!

Breakfast would be oatmeal with a nut butter and fruit
LOVE rice krispy treats (with Peanut butter rocks!)
first word when you mention banana… peanut butter!

Rice Krispie treats were an old favorite of mine so I can’t wait to see how these honey ones turn out. I like the free stylin’ type of post. I feel like most of mine start like that. Hope you’re having a good weekend.

I love it when posts aren’t 100% specific! I find that can get boring, because OBVIOUSLY they have more on their mind than “Top 10 superfoods for supreme health!” and that’s what’s fun to hear about! Or maybe I just have a mind that goes 100km/h. One of the two 😉 And your breakfast didn’t scare me for a minute, hah!

Sometimes my favorite posts to write are the random ones like this! Love it. If we were to eat breakfast together, I would have either a GIANT PB&J or a big bowl of oats with lots of fruit. Love your new black t-shirts! So cute! BANANA..PHONE!

When you say banana I think peanut butter. And toast. And chocolate. And cinnamon. Okay I think a lot of things when you say Banana but all of them have to do with food any my belly 🙂

I had a horrible zit this past week. The worst part wasn’t the location, it was the pain. It felt like a volcano waiting to erupt! Looks like some sweet shopping you did! Have a fantastic weekend!

I like when you’re random, and I really like when people talk about breakfast. I usually have oatmeal or a smoothie (simple things), but for some reason I love it when people talk about what they eat. It’s weird!

I’m currently LOVING rice krispies! I’ve been adding it to me oats, on top of my smoothies for a crunch, and I even made rice krispy treats which I haven’t made in years! I love you new shirts! I have one that I recently bought that says ‘Nothing to Wear’ and ‘More issues than Vogue’. I love little humorous shirts!

It just so happens that I’m eating breakfast right now! I’m having banana egg white oatmeal with berries, more banana, and almond butter. I’m so predictable too haha.

I like rice krispie squares, but they’re not my absolute favourite. I haven’t had them in a few years and it’s not like I have a big craving for them. I’ve always been more of a chocolate girl. 😉

I’ve tried a version of Rice Krispie treats with almond butter and maple syrup and itmworkedso well! I also made a Pb&J one, but I know you won’t be interested in that! I’m so glad we don’t have sephora here, I just know all my savings would go there!

First thing I think of with banana…banana softserve! I think I’ve got it on the brain because I’ve had a version of it for breakfast for the past week and it’s still not getting old. I definitely get into breakfast ruts a lot, so I have no idea what obsession will come next, but I’m enjoying the banana softserve one while it lasts because it’s been so dang hot here lately.

I’ve actually tried to make one of those healthified rice krispie recipes with puffed millet and almond butter and I think maple syrup and it tasted good but didn’t hold together at all. I guess there really is no messing with the classics!

I think the main problem would have been the maple syrup because it’s just way too liquidy. I know people have had success with brown rice syrup, so I’m hoping that honey holds up as well!

I would imagine that it’s not tooooo easy to come up with a GREAT alternative rice krispie recipe because it’s so easy to get it all soggy! 😀 But let us know if you give it a try, hehe. And pllelaaase don’t ever burn yourself out with blogging because I’d be soooo sad if you leave for a long period of time! And I really mean it, girl. <33 Have a great day and ps, I'm becoming fascinated with your makeup products since I don't know much about them. I like to start my day with smoothies, or some mess of granola/almond butter/milk/chia seeds/whatever is lying around. I suppose we’d be enjoying similar breakfasts!

And finally: BANANA…smoothie, soft serve or straight up!

those shirts are so darn cute! I have made a AB and brown rice syrup verison, they were awesome. I wouldn’t consider them like the classics though. But so good. Actually a bakery by me sells them now just 4 different varieties and one is AB with shredded coconut and chocolate shavings, another is PBJ. God now I am wanting them lol.

If I were having breakfast with you I’d be hopefully being gracious and sharing my crepes with lemon juice and brown sugar (I felt like something comforting) and chatting about how much I need you as a makeup guru 🙂 And we can chat about our ex’s 😉 The only rice crispies I had ever had have been made with honey (and real butter- but almond sounds even better!) so I think they will be delicous. Banana- gelato- find some and rejoice! Have an awesome weekend dear Amanda. Xo Sophia

I think that breakfast, while albeit boring, would have been perfectly fine if that’s what you wanted! 😀

So now I can’t get pop-tarts out of my head and I don’t even know why. When I saw the word square in reference to rice krispie treats I started thinking of other right-angley food and then when you said banana… BAM. Pop-tarts. I’m not entirely sure why?? Except that I loved them and thinking it over banana bread flavored pop-tarts would be really interesting…
