. freestylin’ .

June 21, 2013 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 94 Comments

I usually have a pretty good idea of where I want to go with a post. An idea. A direction. A killer opening line… Today, though? I’ve got nothing… nothing aside from a caffeine-induced high that’s making me incredibly chatty, anyway. I mean, I’ve got a list of things that I could talk about, but nothing I really want to talk about, ya know? And you would think that would encourage me to just take a day off from posting, but I’ve kind of become addicted to you guys…

It’s crazy. Blogging has become such a huge part of my life that it’s hard to imagine going without it. I know I went through my fair share of rough patches with blogging (hello two extended absences), but I feel like I’m finally in a good place with it… even if I occasionally can’t think of anything to say. So on that note, I’m just going to let the thoughts flow and see where we end up. I hope you’re ready for some freestylin’…

[youtube=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymNFyxvIdaM&w=560&h=315″]

I’ve gotta say, life’s been good to me lately. I mean, I did wake up with a pretty impressive zit on my chin this morning, but I suppose it could be worse – the dang thing could have been on the tip of my nose. And besides, it’s hard to feel down when you’ve got a gorgeous breakfast in front of you…

Skimpy Breakfast

I kid, I kid. But admit it… I scared you for a second there, didn’t I? No? Not at all?!? Bah! Fine… you know me better than I thought…

Apple Almond Oats

Oats topped with plain Greek yogurt, homemade applesauce, almond butter, and cinnamon.

And yes, I realize that I talk about breakfast a lot, but that’s mainly because a) it’s my favorite meal of the day, and b) it’s what’s usually sitting in front of me while I write up my posts. Although I suppose that kind of reasoning would mean that I could talk about makeup too, since there’s a lot of that lying around as well…

Makeup Mess

Welcome to my perfectly organized chaos… Blogging and getting ready for the day – multitasking at it’s finest. And the pig? Totally responsible for my current high. But let’s go back to the crispy rice cereal for a second…

Crispy Rice Cereal

I’m actually hoping to whip up a batch of rice krispie squares this weekend. They used to be one of my favorite treats when I was a kid (read: I could go through an entire batch in a single day), but it’s been a good long while since I’ve actually had one. This is not okay. The problem is… I don’t have any marshmallows, so it looks like I’ll be making one of those almond butter and honey versions that I’ve seen floating around the web. Are those any good? I’m skeptical when it comes to messing with the classics, but we’ll see how that ends up turning out.

And you’ll never guess where I ended up last night. The mall… Sephora, more specifically. Will you believe me if I don’t post any pictures? No? #Proof or it didn’t happen? Fiiiiiiiine. Just a second while I go grab some shots… Geez you guys are demanding *grumbles and walks off*

Sephora Shopping

Happy Tees

I originally went in to buy a bottle of Urban Decay’s makeup setting spray because I was almost out of mine, and apparently I needed the Tarte bronzer as well. Who knew. The pink makeup bag is from Victoria’s Secret, and the tees are from Old Navy. They make me smile like a goofball.

On that note, I hope this post managed to get a smile out of you. I meant what I said about being totally smitten with you guys… Aaaaand I’m going to end it there before I get all sappy and embarrass myself.

Happy Friday, friends!! 😀

. – . – . – .

If we were chatting over breakfast, what would you be having?
Are you a fan of Rice Krispie squares? Any favorite recipes?
First thought that pops into your head when I say… BANANA.

Blogging had become such an integral part of my life too. Isn’t it funny how things turnout? If we were chatting over breakfast, I’d be having a bowl of oats/oat bran too! I am a fan of the squares. I love any kind that involves PB. Banana… and PEANUT BUTTER! I mean, c’mon. How much more perfect does a combo get?

professional freestyler over here, huh? This was great! 🙂 I am super jealous of your mall trip + your make up collection, something I would love to improve on. Old Navy is the cutest, so i’m not surprised that’s where those wonderful T’s are from! If we were hanging out over breakfast, I’d be eating one of two things – eggs (cooked any sort of way I’m feeling) OR Greek yogurt + granola + an apple. The latter has been my breakfast everyday for the past 2 months and I’m not seeing anything changing any time soon. Inject me with natural and fake sugar first thing in the morning and I’m good to go all day long! 🙂 You’re welcome, co workers, for ensuring my head stays on properly.
    Have a great weekend!
Also, I’m a little obsessed with blogging now too and I haven’t been doing it for too long… It’s just the best thing ever!!

Not a fan of rice krispies, I actually never liked marshmellows growing up– they were too sticky and now I just have no desire to find a vegetarian friendly one lol buuuuuttttt I have made really cool ones for a party! My friends said they came out amazing.

I got the fruity pepples, red food coloring, and marshmellows.. mix the food coloring with the marshmellows, add the fruity pepples, and bam.. tye dye rice krispies lol

Love Rice Krispie treats! One of my old coworkers would make them for anyone’s birthday so I have had quite a few of them recently! I think they are best when they have peanut butter too! I think most everything is better with peanut butter though so that’s probably not much of a shock.

You freestyle quite well…maybe we need to get you rapping 😉 And I was actually never really a rice krispie treat fan. Like, I would eat them if they were placed in front of me, but I never really went out of my way for them. I’m curious as to how an almond butter and honey version would work!
And ohh, is that the makeup spray you told me to buy?! I haven’t been able to find it yet – Brantford is lacking in a Sephora, so I may have to wait until I’m in London and try to make a trip.

If we were chatting over today’s breakfast, I’d be having a green smoothie. Needless to say, your breakfast would be prettier.

As if you could ever trick me into thinking that was your breakfast :D.
Will you believe I’ve never had a “real” Rice Krispie bar? In my defense: it’s simply because they’re hardly known around here by now let alone were when I was a child. I did make up for that in parts, though, by trying these a few years ago: http://oneveganandoneflirt.blogspot.de/2011/01/childhood-favorite-presentingthe-rice.html
No marshmallows, no almond butter and a shprt ingredient list so maybe it’s a recipe for you? I’d still say slather some AB on top ;).
First thing that comes to mind: Banana softserve! More specifically: Thin Mint-style softserve.
Sigh, I still wish Sephora had stores around here… or maybe I should be thankful they don’t because else I’d be broke right away?! Also, the shirts are super cute!
    Happy Friday!

Haha that first breakfast is like the Ugly Duckling of cereal- it needs some doctoring up and ASAP! If we were chatting over breakfast, I’d be having a bowl of plain Greek yogurt with raw oats, a chopped pear, loads of cinnamon, peanut butter, almonds and vanilla extract- heaven :)! Along with loving rice krispies treats, I used to make delicious RK clusters by coating the cereal in melted chocolate and then freezing till hard- so easy that I might have to bring it back asap!

And peanut butter was the first thing that popped to mind when you said banana…my mind is not in the gutter ;)!

Breakfast I’m kind of like you with the greek yogurt love (damn the stuff is so addictive! ) ill have whatever fruit is in the house with a pile of greek yogurt on top then some almond butter, coconut butter and some buckwheat groats. Sooo good! Obviously I eat the fruit underneath first leaving the yogurty/almond/coconut goodness till last!

    Banana = smoothie!

I never actually liked rice crispy things, I found them too sweet? I loved it when my mum would melt chocolate and make little rice crispy/shredded wheat cakes by pouring the chocolate over and setting in the fridge. Totally could not just eat 1 at a time!

If we were chatting over breakfast, I’d be having toasted english muffins with almond butter and bananas spread on. That has become my newest breakfast obsession.
And I loveee rice krispies squares! I could put away quite a few of those kelloggs rice krispies treats back in the day 😛 Actually I probably still can. hehe. When I don’t have marshmallows I used to make rice krispies with brown rice syrup and nut butter. 1/3 cup brown rice syrup, 1/3 cup cashew butter, 1 T vanilla extract, 1/4 t salt. All melted and mixed into 2 cups crispy brown rice. Set in the freezer. They’re especially good when dipped in chocolate 🙂

Sometimes the free flow posts are the best. I find that when I take too much time to think about what to say it sounds forced. Happy weekend 🙂
