. feeling fallish .

August 9, 2011 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 94 Comments

EeeeeEeeEeEEE. 37 days and counting πŸ˜€

Sorry. I promise not to be this unbearably annoying over the course of the next 5 weeks, I just tend to get a little overly excited. So much so, that I’ll use any excuse I can find to stalk my new digs…

Decaf with a splash of soy.

There’s a Starbucks literally 20 feet from the front of my new building, so when my real estate agent called me after dinner last night and told me that she needed me to sign some papers (ugh when will it end?!), I may or may not have casually suggested that we meet there…

Feels like home already πŸ˜€

Feels like Fall, too; or maybe that’s just wishful thinking. The weather outside still screams summer…

… but inside it’s beginning to feel a lot like Fall, which might explain why I was hit with an intense craving for pumpkin this morning – a craving that I knew justΒ how to satisfy…

I whipped up a simple pumpkin pudding by blending togetherΒ Β½ cup of canned pumpkin,Β ΒΌ cup of almond milk, 1 medjool date, and a few dashes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. I paired that with a pimped-out rice cake that was topped with almond butter and honey…

… and kicked my cravings and hunger to the curb. Boom!

Fall-ish feelings might also explain why I got bit by the baking bug this afternoon…

[Blissful Banana Bread with chocolate chips]

There’s nothing I love more than being in a warm kitchen on a crisp Fall day, and while today was anything but crisp, and my kitchen was closer to sweltering than it was to warm, the results were more than worth the sweat-fest…

And, yes, I realize that there’s nothing Fall-ish about reindeer plates, but Fall also means that Christmas is that much closer, and who doesn’t love Christmas? πŸ˜€

Summer is swell, but I’m more than ready for Fall. The beautiful colors. The coziness. The intoxicating smell in the air… only 43 more days to go…Β and 37 more days ’till I move. EeeEeeEEE!

See you guys tomorrow for WIAW!

. – . – . – .

School/work aside, what’s your favorite season and why?

What’s your favorite thing to order at Starbucks?Β I’ll admit that I’m a noobie when it comes to Starbucks. When I go out to grab a coffee, it’s usually at a Canadian chain called Second Cup, so I have no idea what’s good at ‘bucks, and I have a feeling I’ll be spending a decent amount of time there after I move…

Fall is my favorite too!!! The crisp air makes everybody wake up from their summer heat-slump, and holiday excitement can begin…the colors are incredible, there’s pumpkin and apple and cider and cinnamon scents (and there’s nothing better than that!), there’s baking and cross-country season and it’s never excessively rainy or freezing….yeah I can’t wait πŸ™‚

I’m a pretty simple coffee girl so if I find myself at an sbux its usually black coffee with a shot of flavor syrup. BUT during the holiday season, you MUST try the pumpkin spice latte, gingerbread latte, and eggnog latte (which you can get w/ soymilk!)!

Haha you seem to have some seasonal confusion! That’s okay, i eat pumpkin every day, so I guess I do too. I really like fall because it’s cross country season. The weather is perfect for the sport and I love competing! Oh and the fact that fall flavors are the best.
Your starbucks is awfully cute with that patio area! I personally am not a huge fan of starbucks, at least not their coffee. If I go there I like their banana chocolate vivanno! Oh and the pumpkin spice lattes that come out in the fall… swoooooon!

okay one more thing: I spy a rice cake with almond butter. If you haven’t already, you must try topping it with cottage cheese (i like it with cinnamon and vanilla). so. freaking. good.

Fall is my absolute #1 favorite season! You were spot on when you wrote “The beautiful colors. The coziness. The intoxicating smell in the air…” I couldn’t have said it better myself! In fact, I totally brought out the canned pumpkin a few days ago and have been eating it daily since πŸ™‚

Oh and the Tazo teas at Sbucks are delicious. My favorites are Wild Sweet Orange and Passion.

Early fall is TOTALLY my favorite time of year! I love when the humidity leaves – and the days are comfortable and crisp! In New England, we have beautiful foliage – and it is SO amazing to drive through the country and look at all of the beautiful colors! We also go apple picking.. and I put myself to work in the kitchen trying to create deliciousness!
Pumpkin is a flavor that I have recently started enjoying – and I can’t wait until it is in its PRIME season!

you just made me want pumpkin. and practically be able to smell fall. yes, fall has a smell. this makes me nervous…because i hate being cold! (and this is where you say, “well you’re the one who lives in the northeast,” lol)

although i guess it’s hard to say what my favorite season is, because all my life i look forward to summer most because it means no school. and having freedom. but i wonder – would spring or fall be my favorite if it meant no school, too?! life as i know it is now being questioned…haha

Oh my goodness, only one season!? I love them all and I will probably have a different answer every time I get asked. I think I prefer winter and summer, versus the “in between” seasons. Right now I’m totally loving the wonderful warmth of the summer, but I’m looking forward to the crisp beauty of winter too (and I may as well like it, I’m in Alberta – 6 months of winter per year at least. And I’m moving to Montreal….so not exactly any better :p ).

My favorite season is Winter because it’s home to Christmas and my birthday, which is December 21. But it would be my favorite season even if my birthday wasn’t in December. I just love the flavors, colors, clothes, and festive decorations of Winter. I’m definitely ready for Summer to be over and Fall to begin! As for Starbucks, I don’t drink coffee like I used to, so I don’t really get much from Starbucks anymore. I used to get their Pike’s Place coffee, or iced green tea!

By the way, I just bought rice cakes yesterday because one of your recent posts reminded me of how much I love them when they’re all decked out! The one you ate today is practically making me drool over the oozy honey.

I LOVE fall…and I really enjoy warmer weather. I’m not a huge fan of winter. The only time I enjoy it is through the holiday season and then I’m totally over the coldness. I wish I could live somewhere that had summer, fall, and spring. That would be perfect! As for starbucks, I enjoy ordering a non-fat latte and then topping it with cinnamon. Autumn is probably my favourite month- the colours, falling leaves, getting the wooly jumpers out etc, but winter is tempting with christmas ‘n all- its just too dang cold! And my birthday is in Autumn- so obviously the season I was born in is going to be the best;)
I rarely go to Bux , I’m not exactly a coffee fan. sometimes I get a mocha or caramel lite frappacino, that’s quite yummy.
That banana bread truly does look blissful- obviously it was amazing cos its got choccy chips in, the pictures are all stunning!

Oh, having a Starbucks nearby is NOT a good thing for me. So tempting. I walk by one SMACK in the middle of campus every day for class. Especially when its either very cold (hot drink, please!) or very hot (iced drink, please!), it takes all my power not to blow all my (parents’) cash on it. I could (sort-of) justify it last two semesters since I was on a dining plan with extra dining cash to blow (else it disappears into oblivion rather than the sensible thing of carrying over into the next semester), but that’s not the case this year. Maybe I should put a Starbucks plan into action. Once a week? Twice a week? Once a day? AHHH!

Pimped-out rice cake. Har. I, for some reason, imagined driving a rice cake when you said that. Like ‘Pimp My Ride’. Did you get that show up North? Oh, boy. What a show.

That. Bread. Need. Now. But alas, I must wait a few more days to have an oven…

My favorite season is by-far Spring! I love Autumn, too- but I’m always looking more forward to the warmer weather than I am upcoming cold weather. I’ve never been too big’a fan of Winter. Except the holidays. The lights and colors and snow and family! Eeee!

OK GIRLIE! Here come my Starbucks favorites. Ready? READY!

    – Unsweetened soy chai tea latte with vanilla syrup. Iced or hot. Both heavenly. My all-time favorite at the moment. But you already knew that… har.
    – Mocha chip frap used to be a favorite in middle school, before I had a strong liking for coffee. All their fraps are good, honestly. Though I’m more keen to the traditional drinks nowadays.
    – Unsweetened passion tea or unsweetened passion tea lemonade (iced) are also deeeeelish on a hot day. The sweetened versions are too sweet for me personally. And you KNOW it’s sweet if it’s too sweet for me. Eeep.
    – Ristretto (sweet espresso shots, not available at older locations usually) americano with caramel syrup and soy milk. Nomnomnom.

Really, everything’s good. But you simply must get a chai tea latte… AHHHH! I had one today. So good. Their chai is verrryyy nicely spiced.
