April 4, 2014 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 110 Comments

Ahoy hoy! (Eh? I don’t know. Just go with it)

I can’t believe that I was packing my bags for Hawaii the last time I sat down to write one of these posts. Actually, I can’t believe that it’s only been a month since I was there — it feels like forever ago 😯 Which is actually kind of strange seeing as March in general felt like it went by in the blink of an eye. But I digress…

Point is, it’s April which means it’s time for another currently post! No tropical vacations on the horizon this time around, but I do have a few exciting things coming up, so let’s take a look at life as I currently know it…

. – . – . – .

Current book: I’m kind of between books right now. I haven’t picked up anything new since finishing Blood Song, so I’ve just been randomly picking away at books that I’ve already read… and lately I’ve been in the mood for some lighter fare…

Chick Lit

Current music: Dark Horse by Katy Perry. I know I’m way behind on the times with this one, and while I’ve heard this song plenty of times before, lately it just keeps getting stuck in my head. Also… have you seen the video of it being sung in 20 different styles? Guy’s got skills!

[youtube=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jus7S5vBJyU&w=560&h=315″]

Current guilty pleasure: Binge watching season 3 of Game of Thrones. I only have a few more days to catch up on the last season before the new one starts, and I must watch ALL the shows… so my apologies if I disappear off the face of the [blog] world for a little while.

Game Of Thrones S3

Current nail colour: Urban Decay’s Addiction with a pink accent nail. Not the most springy setup, but that’s okay because spring kind of forgot about us anyways…

UD Addiction

Current drink: Coffee. More specifically, Pike Place with a splash of milk from my new office. No matter how many different coffees and coffee shops I try, this is the brew that I keep coming back to. Also, I’m going to go against the grain here and say that I prefer hot coffee over iced coffee. I know everyone is anxiously awaiting the arrival of warmer weather so they can bust out the icy drinks, but I’ll be sipping my hot coffee and cranking the AC, thank.you.very.much.

Pike Place

Current food: Chickpeas. Every day, every way.

Chickpeas

Current obsession: See above… and below…

Honey Almond Roasted Chickpeas6

Crunchy Honey Almond Roasted Chickpeas

Current wish: That Mini Eggs didn’t contain traces of peanuts. They used to be my absolute favourite Easter candy and I’d look forward to stocking up on them all year long. That is, until a few years back when SLAP — “may contain traces of peanuts.” Easter just hasn’t been the same since then.

Mini Eggs

Current need: A new memory card for my DSLR. I maxed out my storage space about 2 months ago and I keep planning on buying a new one but I’ve fallen into the habit of just deleting old pictures instead. I hope it won’t come back to bite me in the a**, but really… how many pictures of oatmeal does a girl need? Now if only I could do the same kind of cleaning sweep to my phone.

Pic Library

Current triumph: Finally filing my taxes! Pretending to be Being a grown-up is hard work.

Current bane of my existence: Wonky sleep. My sleeping patterns have been all over the place lately. Sometimes they’re more-or-less normal and I can sleep until 5 or 5:30, and then sometimes I just start waking up at 3 or 4 AM for a few days in a row for no reason at all. When that happens, I’ll get out of bed for a few hours to blog or work, and then fall back asleep for another hour or so at around 6 or 7. Like I said… wonky.

Sheep Teddy

Current indulgence: My daily trip to Starbucks. I know I can make coffee at home for a fraction of the cost, but I just enjoy getting my work done in a coffee shop. That and coffee always seems to taste better when it’s made by someone else.

Current procrastination: Okay this is embarrassing, but I still haven’t renewed my passport… which, if you remember, is something that I mentioned all the way back in February 😳 I’ll be doing it this month for sure though, seeing as my passport expires in May and I kind of need it if I want to go to Blend in June… which I do.

Passport

Current blessing: Afternoon naps. Or mid-morning naps. Or, really, just naps in general. I don’t have to take them too, too often, but when I need them, they’re lifesavers.

Current excitement: Three words… Winter is coming [this Sunday night] πŸ˜€

[youtube=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZY43QSx3Fk&w=560&h=315″]

Current mood: Giddy! The weather is getting warmer (sort of), the days are getting longer, and the air just has a certain lightness to it. That and it’s my mom’s birthday this weekend which means one very important thing… cake πŸ˜€

Delicious Birthday Cake

Current link: Pinterest… Gotta find inspiration for that cake somewhere!

The edgy green with that soft pink accent nail – geniusly beautiful!
So I’ve only come across Nestle mini eggs (which I’ve never bothered to try) but the fact that Cadbury mini eggs is out of my grasp just makes me want it so badly. Booh I’m such a spoiled kid :p .
Tell me..how on earth do you manage to get an hour of sleep after waking up and pottering around? Is there some secret?
Yes to coffee tasting better when someone else makes it..and hot trumps iced most of the time.
Current food obsession: Chunky Monkey bites πŸ˜‰ and softly scrambled eggs. Not together. Have I mentioned what a perfect specimen of a birthday cake that was!? Kills me every time!
Happy birthday to the fantabulous Momma Spoons πŸ˜€

I honestly have no idea how I manage that random hour. I think it’s because when I wake up super early, I’m still kind of tired but my brain has too much going on to let me keep resting… so when I get up and get some of the things on my to-do list done, my brain relaxes and I can fall asleep again. Like I said… WONK.

    Happy Birthday to Momma Spoons!!!
I used to go to baseball games in the summer with a huge coffee in hand. All of the parents would ask me why I don’t drink iced coffee because I would be sweating from the heat, but I just cannot get myself to enjoy iced coffee. There’s something about it which is just WIERD to me. I’d rather just have an Iced Tea.

My current food of choice is mangoes. I cannot get enough of them. I’ve been eating one EVERY DAY. Send help.

I laughed when I saw your stack of books because I have read every single one of those. I love chick lit and I’m not afraid to admit it lol.

    1) … guilty pleasure = those mini bags of microwave popcorn. They’re perfect for my 8pm hunger attacks
    2) … food = the peanut butter & banana combo. I have recently rediscovered how amazing it is and breakfast every morning has been that. Its not exciting but it is delicious, so.. I’m okay with it.
    3) … drink = water (boring, right?)
    4) … bane of existence = emptying the dishwasher is not my favourite thing these days.
    5) … procrastination = unpacking the boxes stacked in our spare bedroom (we just moved). I wish they’d unpack themselves

My boyfriend is addicted to Game of Thrones, and stupid netflix won’t get with the program and allow me to stream it haha I’ve never seen it, and the boyfriend says I need to watch it. So we just agreed, when I’m done with school and just working, then I’ll buy the seasons and he can watch them with me :). And I agree 100%. When they make it at starbucks, it just taste so much better, and I think it’s because they steam the milk (makes a huge difference!), and they also add shots of espresso along with pumps of syrup to the drink. All making a beautiful cup of happiness. Oh, and I’m the same way, I will be drinking my hot coffee all the way through summer time! I don’t like iced coffee, bleh.

My heart is breaking for your mini egg deprived self, I think we should start a petition to remove those darn possible traces of peanuts.

I like my coffee hot in the morning but if its summer or warm out and I want a coffee in the afternoon Ill go for something iced!

Curren guilty pleasure: This is really weird but audio books. Like I cannot stop listening to them. Its really nice to just be able to have someone read to you like when you were a kid again!
Current food: Pancakes and eggs. Sometimes together sometimes not. Like Im pretty sure I consumed at least 4 whole eggs yesterday…
Current drink: Almond Chai or Ultra Spice Chai tea.
Current bane of existence: History 12. Le sigh. Its not the material I don’t like its the 3 hours of reading have to do. Now how handy would it be to turn THAT reading material into a audio book πŸ˜‰
Current Procrastination: Cleaning out my makeup drawer. I have way to much of the stuff and need to get rid of some of it rather than telling myself Im going to use it.

Omgee…I adore the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella-lighter fare, but still a great read! Katy Perry sure is talented – those 20 styles were pretty amazing – the switch from Slipnot to Louis Prima – just amazing!
I am so with you – I drink hot coffee year round with one exception; a coffeehouse near me makes a “mocha shaker” that I cannot seem to resist!

My current guilty pleasure has been dreaming about squeezing in an evening nap
My current bane of existence is the lack of an evening nap!
Current food has been homemade almond butter; current drink is “Life is Good S’more Coffee”
And my current procrastination is piddling around outside – we have had 80 (F) degree weather here these past 5 days and I have had a hard time coming inside!
Happy Birthday to your Mom – my dad’s bday is this weekend too (today to be exact) – And here I was thinking we had only a love of oats and nutbutter in common πŸ˜‰
Have a lovely weekend -lovely lady!

I’m literally peeing myself for Sunday…except Monday for me cause Curt won’t be home till late Sunday night and he banned me from watching it without him! If he delays it another day I’m gonna hurt him with the new cactus I bought us!

Totalllllllllly cannot wait for Game of Thrones. HOLY CATS LADY!

Definitely always iced coffee. I don’t do hot temperatures well… πŸ™‚

Current guilty pleasure is my protein bites lately. Oats, almond butter, dk. chocolate protein powder and almond milk. Mashed up and made into little balls. WOAH so delicious and addicting!

Current Food: Oatmeal – we’ve discussed this πŸ˜‰

Current Bane of my Existence: before yesterday, it was my stupid old mattress, but I got a new memory foam mattress topper and WOWIE, the difference is amazing. Slept like a log last night πŸ˜€

And tomorrow? My first half marathon of the season! Woot! πŸ™‚

For real you should make them!! πŸ™‚ However, small quantities, since I definitely don’t have self-restraint to leave some extra haha.

And thank you! I appreciate the support <3

Let’s just talk about wonky sleep- omg! I don’t know what the deal is this week, but my melatonin seems to be way off, no matter how much chamomile tea I drink or melatonin I take. Oy! I’ve been up since 2 a.m., finally rolled out of bed at 4 a.m. because I was starving, and can’t wait to take a nap today- which yes, are a complete blessing:)

    Have a great Friday!
