. as we speak #2 .

November 18, 2013 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 85 Comments

As much as I enjoy Mondays, this week I can’t help but wonder where the weekend went — thank goodness for photographic evidence? I got an overwhelming positive response on my last As We Speak post, and since I’m feeling a bit too scatterbrained to type out a coherent wordy post right now, do you mind if I cop out and show you my Sunday through selfies instead? No? You guys are gems. I still can’t say that I love taking ’em, but at least selfies are getting a little easier.

Happy Monday! 😀

. – . – . – .

As we speak, I’m… burning my fingers (and tongue) on a hot cup of coffee. When will I learn to let things cool down a little before I try to eat/drink them? Probably never…

Hot Coffee

As we speak, I’m… flashing you a picture of my melons. Shameless.

My Melons

As we speak, I’m… foraging for food. Shhhh. Don’t make any sudden movements. Let us observe the Amanda in its natural habitat…

Fridge Foraging

As we speak, I’m… tight lining my waterline and praying to God that I don’t sneeze or slip and poke my eye out. I like my eyes — I would like to keep them.

Tightlining

As we speak, I’m… close to running late for church yet insisting on taking a good selfie before I leave. Ahh the sacrifices I make to blog…

Going to Church

As we speak, I’m… showing you how I really feel about having to get some work done on a Sunday… and entertaining myself by making goofy faces while I’m stuck on hold.

Stuck on Hold

As we speak, I’m… modelling my sexy thermal socks for you guys. Admit it… you want a pair of purple and turquoise smart wool socks of your very own. I know you do.

Boarding Socks

As we speak, I’m… snowboarding the afternoon away, but this is the only picture I managed to get because taking selfies around friends makes me feel even more narcissistic than taking selfies alone. That and having to take my gloves off to whip out the iPhone in the cold and snow puts me at a higher risk of frostbite than I’d like. I like my fingers — I would like to keep them.

Snowboarding at Rabbit

As we speak, I’m… in my parents’ kitchen, defrosting before dinner with a cup of decaf. And no I will not take off my hat — I have hat hair.

Defrosting

As we speak, I’m… Sneakily snapping up a selfie in the bathroom after dinner. Class all the way. And again — hat hair.

Sneaky Selfie

As we speak, I’m… [Christmas] movie marathoning. The combination of a day of boarding and a filling dinner meant I wasn’t leaving the couch any time soon. I honestly thought of spending the night, but I had no way to deal with my contacts, and the thought of sleeping in them just — no.

Movie Marathon

. – . – . – .

Your turn! As we speak, I’m… ____________.
Do you have a problem with waiting for things to cool down before you eat/drink them too?
Do you enjoy talking on the phone?
I honestly have no idea how I spent hours on it when I was younger…
If you wear them, can you sleep in your contacts?

As we speak, I’m eating my after-dinner dessert. No bake oatmeal bars. Deliciousness.

I definitely have a problem waiting for my dinner to cool off. I’m always starving by the time I make it, and almost always end up burning the roof of my mouth. I never learn.

I am NOT, nor have I ever been a phone conversationist by ANY means whatsoever. I don’t know how people manage to stay on the phone talking for hours. I’m lucky if I can keep on the line for longer than 15 minutes without getting bored or restless. Now it’s funny because I can text or instant message non-stop, no problem. Isn’t that awful? I feel like I’m buying into the technology craze that has people drifting apart and not maintaining human contact with each other, but I can’t help it. I’m just more comfortable talking through an LCD screen lol

Pssh, girl, I sleep in my contacts ALL THE TIME. I totally shouldn’t be boasting about that, I know it’s very risky, but I hate taking them in and out. It makes my eyes irritated and a lot of times I’m just plain lazy.

I know. I’m weird in all sorts of ways. Hope everything’s well with you Amanda, I missed your post today

Right now I’m waiting for dinner to finish cooking on the stove 🙂

Loving all these selfie-fied posts (and those thermal socks if we’re being honest!) Looks like a great day spent doing fun and wintery things.

As we “speak” I am currently thinking about how I just swoon over your home decor and wanting to ask you to do a post of a tour of your pad or maybe some decorating tips. I recall your “office makeover” post.

Haha I can totally relate to that first picture. I’m always burning my tongue on my food/drinks. Apparently I’m dumber than one of Pavlov’s dogs and conditioned learning just doesn’t apply to me. 😛

What Christmas movies did you watch?! I’m so excited to start watching some soon. Love Actually, The Santa Clause, and The Family Stone are my favourites!

So I can’t say it without sounding dirty…I love your melons! haha

Those thermal socks look so amazingly warm and comfy!!

I always feel strange no matter whether I am alone or not taking a ‘selfie’ and always delete it after as half the time I just can’t post them!

What eyeliner do you use to do your waterline? love it!!

As we speak I am watching old episodes of The Bachelor – Sean’s season and eyeing some cookies I baked.

Ahhh, I love that you did another one of these so soon! I love your hat hair and please, PLEASE come over and do my makeup!! 😀 Also, I’m right there with ya on the phone thing! How in the HECK did I spend 2-3 hours on the phone with my friends/boyfriends when I was a teenager?! I hate it now…like honestly, if you can’t text me, just show up at my door! Talking on the phone…just can’t do it!

As we speak, I’m ignoring the fact that I have a patient to get from the ER for just another couple of minutes so I can finish catching up with one of my favorite girls! Oh, and trying to stay awake since I just realized I still have THREE hours left of my shift and my eyelids feel like they weight twenty pounds all of a sudden…I think I might just be desperate enough to grab some coffee from the break room…and believe me that is DESPERATE ! 😯

Confession: sometimes I’ll sit there watching my cell phone ring and consciously not pick it up just so I can text the person back and ask them what they wanted 😆

I love these posts! You look so cute in your snowboarding gear and I don’t blame you for not taking off your gloves and getting frostbite! Ouch.

Yes, I have a huge problem with waiting for things to cool down. I like my food hot and often burn my mouth. I also hate talking on the phone. My mom is pretty much the only one who I’ll talk to on the phone.

More Amanda selfies. Hurray. It gets easier and easier every time. Before you know it, you’ll be a selfie pro.
I hate talking on the phone, unless I’m face timing the Hubby. I don’t know what it is or why, but it’s not my favorite thing to do.
As we speak, I’m just ogling the picture my a Hubby texted me…..of his dinner. What were you thinking?! It’s the mashed potatoes with chive butter. I’m thinking I’ll be eating those for dinner tonight…again.

Dinner definitely wasn’t the first thing that popped into my mind 😛 But those chive butter mashed potatoes are definitely worth the ogle — I was devouring them with my eyes when I read your post this morning.

It’s so much fun getting to see you in your natural habitat! I love it.

I really wish I could snowboard. I tried once at winter camp when I was in high school but failed miserably. In my defense, it doesn’t snow where I grew up in California so I never had much of an opportunity to learn.

And I LOVE that melon shirt! So funny. (:

Currently I am slying (sitting/lying) on the couch watching YouTube videos and waiting for my spaghetti squash to be done.

Someone was just telling me yesterday that we should go snowboarding. I’m kind of scared. I’ve never been skiing or any of that. I think I’d probably spend most of my time on my butt. The girl I was talking to said snowBOARDING is easier than skiing. Thoughts?

Having done both, I’d have to say that snowboarding is the harder of the two, but it’s also incredibly fun so I definitely recommend giving it a shot!

Hi 5 for the selfie revolution!

I think Heather and Meghan are starting to influence you too….look at what spoons has become, FLASHING on the blog?! I’ve fallen asleep with contact lenses before…more than once. The pain of taking them out the next morning is similar to sticking chilli in the eyes. It depends on the food but sometimes I do burn myself when taste testing something which is NOT fun…eating a meal later with a burnt tongue.

Currently I’m eating oats with sunbutter which spilled off the bowl. Fail.

Fail?! No way! That just means you’ve added the proper amount 😉 And it only took falling asleep in my lenses once before I decided I’d never do it again — gooooood morning metal slivers in eyes 😯

Love these posts. Sounds like you had a fun Saturday! I’m jealous that you’re already snowboarding, we don’t have enough snow here yet for that. Right now I’m getting ready to cook crockpot lasagna so that it’ll be ready for dinner after the gym tonight.
