Aaaaand cue the randomness!
1. So I went to Starbucks the other day to grab a dry cappuccino. You guys remember how obsessed I used to be with those things… I went through a phase that lasted a good year where I was basically in there every.single.day. My wallet kind of hated me for it, but it was something I really looked forward to so I justified the cost. Anyways… I hadn’t had one in forever, so I figured I would treat myself a few days ago.
You guys… it pains me to say this, but… it wasn’t as good as I remembered 😥 In fact, I was sitting there wishing I had just gotten a regular Pike instead. Maybe it was just poorly made since the barista was kind of new, but yeah… I think I’ll be sticking to coffee from my Keurig from now on.
2. Speaking of the Keurig, I finally got around to taking advantage of my ‘get-2-free-boxes-when-you-register’ deal and put in my order online…
I know I said I was kind of over flavoured coffees, but these are flavours that I can’t find anywhere around here so I figured… what the hey… I’m especially excited about the chocolate glazed donut one since I’ve been hearing so many good things; and chocolate glazed donuts are easily my favourite kind. Hmm… I’m thinking I might need to whip up another batch of these…
3. One last thing about coffee… Does anyone else shed a tear or two when they finish the last sip? I try to limit myself to one cup a day (otherwise my stomach goes into I-hate-you mode), but you’d better believe that I savour that cup as if it were liquid gold.
4. Speaking of drinks, do you guys have a cut-off point when it comes to how late you’ll keep drinking water? There’s a whole lot of nonsense out there about not eating later than [insert hour here], but what about drinking? I ask because sometimes I’ll wake up ridiculously early because I have to go to the bathroom and I won’t be able to fall back asleep after that… I’m wondering if not drinking late will help me avoid that…
5. These are the kind of random things that run through my head. And if you need further proof of my strangeness, look what I found when I opened one of my jars of almond butter the other day…
Half a date 😯 A whole date I could understand, but half?? I’m going to assume that I ate the other half, but why did I leave it in there? Why didn’t I eat it, or at the very least, not store it in an AB jar? Some things even I can’t explain… Like why I never manage to stir my nut butter jars well enough to avoid being left with the crusty bits at the bottom. It’s a sad, sad day when you come to the end of a jar…
6. But it’s a happy day when you find a new jar in your pantry that you didn’t even know you had…
I honestly thought the crusty remains were all I had left of my beloved Justin’s almond butter (which needs to get its butt to Canada… hint, HINT), so you can probably imagine the ridiculous happy dances I was doing when I unexpectedly came across a brand new jar buried in the back of my pantry. I have a lot of nut butters… sometimes a few jars can get lost in the crowd.
7. I’m really looking forward to the weekend. Why? Because Saturday morning I’ll [hopefully be riding shotgun] in a car headed here:
I feel like it’s been forever since I got to go snowboarding in the mountains, and this might be my last chance before the season ends. Can.not.wait. I’m thinking I might need to do another As We Speak mountain edition — I’ve been slacking on the selfies lately!
8. I’m also thinking that I need to whip up a batch of these soft and chewy granola bars for the trip…
I’m almost afraid to open up those flood gates again, though, because I literally cannot control myself around those things. One batch leads to two; two to four; and before I know it, all I’m eating is granola bars 😆
9. One thing putting a damper on my good mood is the fact that I still need to survive one ordeal before I can enjoy myself this weekend — I need to go get my blood taken. Womp, womp. It’s just part of a routine yearly health exam, but ugh… I can think of about a million other things I’d rather be doing, especially since I have the biggest fear of needles. No joke. I can’t even watch people getting poked on TV without feeling all sorts of nervous and jerky, and every.single.time I get my blood drawn, I end up one breath away from passing out — I’m talking ears roaring and black spots taking over my vision. I know it’s no big deal and you can barely feel it, but I feel it in my head! Anyone else? And anyone have tips on how to survive make it easier?
10. This post has been far too wordy for random thoughts — sorry! Hope you’re having a happy Thursday 😀

With all these amazing coffee flavours I wish I could drink coffee.
As for late night water drinking, can you fall asleep at all if you feel thirsty? I can’t.
Justin’s AB IS the bestest! The only thing better is probably finding a full one you didn’t think you had in your pantry – score!!!! I have noticed that the price of Justin’s has been rising over here-so soon as I jump off the fence on either getting a Ninja or Cuisinart, am gonna have to replicate Justin’s at home! I have no clue about a cut off time for water – I know my mom limits her intake after round 7pm, but I am so sleep deprived, I can always manage to fall asleep! Here’s hoping you hit those slopes this weekend and enjoy yourself lady!
I’m starting to think that I’m going to have to find a way to replicate the maple flavour because I haven’t been able to find it ANYWHERE and my stash is definitely not going to last me until my next visit to the States!
Um… Okay so the keurig coffee flavours- I have those at home too. Thanks to me buying a keurig in America, hoarding it home, then breaking it as soon as I plug it into the socket because of the Australian VS American plug system. Fail. At least I know what to gift you when I visit…
I wouldn’t have been doing happy dances over the nut butter. I would be hitting my head with a spoon that you’d even forgotten that it was there.
Ok, so I’m trying really reeeeeeeally hard to feel some sympathy for you right now what with the needle phobia and all, but woman, you are KILLING ME with the coffee talk!! I’m sitting over here pining over your Starbucks, your K-cups, your cinnamon topped frothy goodness…my knees are weak! I WAAAAAAANT SOME COFFEEEEEEEE! Damn that doctor for taking away my one true love in life! 🙁 I’m going to go sulk in the corner now.
Oh and for what it’s worth, I usually stop drinking anything about 3-4 hours before bedtime…because I have that same problem. And I can’t have ANYTHING interfere with what little bit of precious z-time I can get! But I still want my friggin’ coffee! *grumble*
Oh noes! No more coffee?? (I’m super behind on blog reading if you’ve already told the story behind this..)
I only just mentioned it the other day, but since I’ve been seeing a therapist for my insomnia, he advised me to switch to tea until we can get things straightened out with other stresses and such in my life…and you know what they say, you only want something more when you know you can’t have it! Haha!
Oh goodness I’m not sure if I could do that!! Sorry about your insomnia..working nights is rough. I’ve been trying to get my mom to switch to days (she’s a nurse) for YEARS now!!
Whaaaat?! No coffee?! Is it because of the problems you’ve been having with sleep lately?
Yeah… 🙁 He said I should only drink tea because the “buzz” is less. I like tea, I really do, but it’s NOTHING when you want coffee! haha!
I think I need to get myself a chocolate glazed donut pronto. I forgot about that awesome-tastic recipe of yours!
And that could be why I do not dunk things in my nut butter jars…but heyy that half a date must be really happy after its rendezvous with ol’ Justin AB 😉 .
What seems to help with avoiding the inevitable concrete end of nut butters, is to purchase it earlier than you intend using, and store it upside-down until then. Then continue to store upside-down.
Ohhh yesss..I basically sleep-walked to the bathroom at some point last night – I suppose I need to quit the water awhile before bedtime too.
An “As we speak” post is kinda overdue you know 😉 …have fun in the mountains 🙂
i always cry when I get to my last sip of tea! I drink my mugs in like 1 minute flat so it never lasts long (even if that means I burn my mouth, haha!) :/
I’ve always got a stocked new nut butter that i keep unopened for emergencies! Hahaha, you can never be without, that would be horror!
For needles? Well I don;t mind them at all. I usually laugh when I get my blood taken haha! I think it tickles….which is weird. Except the last time I got my blood taken. Mind you I drank like 25oz an hour before and had just eaten, but the nurse could not get my blood to flow enough to fill the viles. She kept jabbing it in my arm and that time it hurt…a lot and I was left with a huge bruise 🙁
I’ll be thinking of you when I ride down the slopes myself – heading there tomorrow night and can not wait!
Gah! Why can’t we be going to the same place?!
Oh my gosh I need to buy some of that Justin’s flavor because I still have not tried it!! I have no excuse since it’s sold at Target…maybe I just think Dave will make fun of me for buying something other than my usual Jif.
Aaaand with that I’m off to drink some coffee..and find a chocolate donut…I wonder why the sudden craving ha!
I just got to the bottom of my almond butter this morning & was left w/ all the crusties.. good thing I had another jar waiting for me in the back. I swear, we basically live the same lives in different countries. you wake up to go pee & cant go back to bed – me too… you have an apple pie smoothie -me too… and now this.. gosh we’d be best friends if we lived near each other LOL..
Although, I don’t mind getting blood taken at all. Maybe if you stare @ the needle while shes stabbing you it won’t be too bad? …or maybe not
I hate having my blood taken. 🙁 I used to give blood but had a bad experience once, so now I am scared. On time after that, one of my drs. wanted to draw blood but the nurse couldn’t find a vein and was fishing around for too long… I couldn’t take it so I said NO, no blood drawing today! I felt pretty bad ass, but hey, it is MY body. I did have surgery a few months ago and they drew blood for that but the nurse was a pro and it didn’t even hurt! I hope you have a really good nurse and it’s quick and painless, Amanda!!
Oh girl, I hear ya on the crusty left-overs in nut butter jars. Used to hate them, but then I found out how to turn them into deliciousness: I just stir some melted coconut butter in. Heaven! Seriously, you should try this.
I’ll definitely be giving that a try! Thanks girl 😀
I feel your pain when it comes to coffee. I have gone back and forth between limiting myself to just one cup a day but currently I am at 2 cups because well one was just a little too sad!
I do have a few tips on getting blood drawn. I cannot tell you the times I have passed out after standing up from having it drawn. It is totally a mental thing for me. Shots I handle fine but drawing blood the needle has to hang out in your vein just a little too long! Anyway so now I always tell the nurse that I need to lie down while it is being drawn and I also ask them to talk to me so that I am distracted and not thinking about what is happening as much. (that really helps) I also stay lying down for a minute or 2 after they are done just to make sure I am feeling alright. 🙂
Laying down definitely helps. Have you tried plugging in earbuds and listening to loud music over your iPod? A few different people have told me that that works really well so I’m going to try it when I go.
I’m not sure why, but after reading this I really want some donuts…and granola bars… 🙂
I always have to go to the bathroom during the night because for some reason, I think it’s a good idea to have a full glass of water as soon as I get into bed. Someday I will learn.
Thanks for hosting the blogging party again this week!
Andddd Happy (Almost) Weekend!!
It’s funny you mention it. I actually try not to drink any water an hour before bed. I really hate to wake up multiple times to use the rest room at night.
I love my donuts. I could eat them for every meal but I guess that isn’t too appropriate.
Forgive me, what is a dry cappuccino? I know coffee expert and I can’t remember…I normally get the blonde roast at starbucks myself.
A dry cappuccino is just a cappuccino with less steamed milk and more foam. I think the normal ratio is 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, and 1/3 foam… so a dry would be something like 1/3 espresso and 2/3 foam — it just makes the coffee flavour a lot stronger.
Hahahah the half date in the AB jar is totally something I would do. I’ve put oatmeal in the fridge before without realizing it. I LOVE flavored coffee, but I always mix it with regular. I’m soo jealous of you snowboarding! I miss it 😀
I am 1 million percent with you on the needles thing! I am absolutely terrified too! I was so proud of myself (and told about 5 people afterwards) that I did not cry for the first time last summer when I had bloodwork. It makes me feel dizzy thinking about them. You can do it 🙂
I also understand you with the water thing, I commonly get up to go pee 1-3 times in the night. it is hard as I want to be hydrated as one of the critical parts of keeping my training at a high level, but surely its not good to get up at night. I will be curious to see what you find here!
Yay for ordered the French toast coffee. The smell alone will capture you! I hate blood tests. The worst. In fact, I am known to faint during the test while still sitting.
I could cry every single time I take the last sip of my Starbucks Soy Latte. I have the same things with syrup coffee drinks. I dream of caramel macchiato or apple cinnamon latte but when I buy one every once in a while it’s too sweet, messes with my stomach and I don’t enjoy it at all. And than you even paid a fortune for it!
Regarding the water. The make-up artist who made me pretty for my wedding told me not to drink too much water in the evening as it makes your face look more bloated. Better drink more during the day and less in the evening.
Poor you for your reaction to needles! Though I am not sensitive at all I can give you advice that helped me in the past with coping with medical examinations. Look away, breath and think about cookies and coffee!
Have a great weekend, lovely!
Thanks for the tips, Juli! Both with the water drinking and needles. Going to try them out 🙂
I am the same way, I would now much rather make my own coffee or get a drip then get the once “fancy” coffees I loved. I think because now I know all that milk hurts my stomach so much. I cannot drink water after 7:30p. That’s my cut off time, any later and I pee all night long!
currently drinking coffee and trying to savor every drop!! don’t let it be gone! gah. and p.s. I used to work at starbucks way back in college, the cappuccinos are pretty hit or miss. depends on who makes it, the froth, the temperature of the milk, etc. I made a mean cappuccino. LOL!
Needles, yikes! Maybe you can sneak in a chocolate glazed donut then whip it out when they draw blood. I bet it would take your mind off it!
Hehe! Still laughing over you finding half a date in your nut butter jar! I would be so amazed too – not that there was half a date in there but that I had forgotten about it!
Major almond butter love, wish I could get jars that size in the UK. Ours are tiny!
I so wish I had a kreuig now! That coconut mocha flavor sounds great! But I guess my chocolate peanut butter cookie will have to do for (it doesn’t taste like it sounds haha but still pretty good!). I haven’t had a starbucks drink in forever! I might have to venture over and get me one this weekend it sounds good but I’m sure I will experience the same thing!
I have to tell you I used to hate needles and getting my blood drawn too! Well lucky me ended up with a medication that forces me to get a blood test once a month, so I have learned some great tricks! I always sit down, take a breathe and just relax, then as the nurse is tying on that band just look in the opposite direction and focus on something else, heck even close your eyes if you have to, then you don’t even know its happening and bam! you’re done!
Keeping my fingers crossed that I can make that work. Have you ever tried listening to music through ear buds during the whole thing? I heard that really helps as well!
How have I not made those chewy granola bars yet?! FAIL i must get on that
BAHAHAHA The date in your AB seriously made me laugh out loud. But only because I found a rice cracker in mine the other day 🙂
I hope you enjoy your last weekend of snowboarding!!! We closed up shop here last weekend. After which, we promptly got 4 inches of snow. Oh Spring.
Also. GL with the blood work. 🙂
I’m still afraid to start drinking coffee due to risk of getting hooked. But that glazed donut flavor miiiiight just change my mind 😉
OMG- I’ve had the same issues with drinking too much water before going to bed, waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and then regretting it. I try to take little sips throughout the night, but then after brushing my teeth and going to the bathroom one last time, I try not to drink water unless I’m parched.
Haha! So funny that you found a lonely half date in your AB jar…I’m surprised I haven’t found dried figs in my Greek yogurt containers…yet. And gahh why do you keep going to all these gorgeous places without me?!
Yes to the drinking water thing. I don’t have a certain time, per se, but since I take medicine at night, I make sure that I take the medicine, drink water, THEN get ready for bed, and the last thing I do before bed is go to the bathroom. If I don’t do that, I will inevitably wake up, like you, and not be able to go to sleep again. Try it.
Joe feels the same way about starbucks these days haha. He thinks a lot of their coffee tastes burnt these days and refuses to go there unless he has to. I don’t mind their tea so I still head there with the boys 😛 Have a blast on the slopes this weekend hun! And good luck with the bloodwork….I hate having it done too. I’m not afraid of needles, but any time I watch blood leave my body through them I pass out. You’d think I would just not watch, but I always do. Good times 😛
Right!?!? It’s the thought that my blood is being leeched out of me that gets to me the most. Eeep… now I’ve gone and worked myself up 😆
Hmmm I try not to drink water 2 hours before bed, though I usually have a few sips right before I fall asleep. I used to get up to pee all the time but I don’t as much anymore. As far as my coffee, YES I savor it like crazy, and I only have one cup each day for the same reason. It is so, so good though.
I totally cut myself off at night for drinking water – if I don’t I’ll be up all night (read: 3-5 times, total TMI) having to pee! It’s tough living with small bladder syndrome (self-diagnosed, of course!).
I drink water late everynight and every morning I regret it. Luckily It’s not too hard for me to fall back asleep! I want to try Justin’s SO, so bad. I’m missing out. Finding a random nut butter jar is the best!
Those coffee flavors sound so great! But alas, I cannot drink coffee without the I-hate-you-mode kicking in instantly! But I bet they’d smell great… 🙂
I just finished my freshly crushed almond butter too- and then I get to work this morning and voila! There’s half a jar in the fridge I forgot I put in there for just-in-case situations 🙂 Sometimes I really love planning ahead!
Have a fab weekend! I’m headed to San Francisco! Cannot wait <3
Eee! Have an absolute blast in San Francisco! I seriously love that city.
I have the same problem with drinking. I think I wake up 2-4 times (I know..) to pee in the middle of the night. Then, I can’t sleep. That, or I wake up hungry. Then I just lay there… it is nuts-o. Those bars look awesome!
Hahaha, the date thing made me giggle. Maybe something several-y distracted you, thereby causing you to leave that poor date half eaten.
I HATE anything involve bloodwork…. or needles. Ugh. I avoid that stuff… at.all.costs. Great post love!
Ha ha half a date! With needles- just don’t look at it when they poke you! Deep breaths! I used to be terrified- now I give blood on the regular! Those needles are bigger than the normal ones for physicals. You can do it!
Hmm… chocolateglazed donut sounds amazing!! I’ve had the coconut mocha one (two of my favorite flavors combined) and it was kinda disappointing/watery. Good luck with the bloodwork… i used to have a terrible time getting blood taken and I had to do it every month. So here’s what I recommend: 1) don’t look at any equipment before or after 2) sing a song in your head and try to remember all the lyrics perfectly- good distraction 3) it always helps to let the technician know- they might roll their eyes but they may also try to be more gentle 4) deep breaths!
Thanks for the tips, Jess! Have you ever tried listening to music over earbuds? I’ve been hearing that that helps as well.
Oh God… everytime I get my blood taken I will certainly pass out. Not ALMOST pass out, I really do blackout for 10 seconds or so. Terrible. I spent 1 week at the hospital with awful digestive issues in the beggining of the month and you can imagine… neddles everywhere, all the time, blood taken, medicine right into my veins and all those kinds of torture.
Now speaking of the good stuff, nothing better than finding a new jar of nut butter and celebrate it with 4 or 5 spoonfuls straight from the jar! (guilty) hahaha
Those donuts just made me weak in the knees. I had a banana and two clementines for first breakfast so there’s definitely some room for donuts.
I drink one very large cup of coffee in the morning (i.e. if it’s a small mug, I’ll refill it one more time), and lately I’ve been drinking an afternoon cup as well, which is probably too much caffeine in a day. I’ve been trying to switch my afternoon cup to tea to balance it all out. I also drink water right up until bed because whether I do or don’t, I will get up at least once in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. My bladder is the size of a pea; it’s almost embarassing.
I hope your able to go, and have a blast boarding! I don’t intentionally limit my coffee but I take my one cup to work and then it’s all gone. I do savor that last sip of coffee! I wake up multiple times every night to pee so clearly I don’t do well limiting water intake but I figure water is good for you so it’s not a big deal.
First Justin’s needs to make their almond butter in a dedicated almond only factory, or at least give me assurance that it’s not made on the same equipment as other nut butters. THEN they need to come to Canada lol.
Ugh, I hate the hard almond butter at the end of the jar too! 😛
They have ones that are peanut-free! But I think hazelnuts might still be a sneaking possibility…
I have NO limits when it comes to coffee…it’s a problem. I’m getting better about it, but there was a time when I’d have two shots of espresso in the morning, a coffee after starting work and ANOTHER shot of espresso before close. And I wonder why I was always tired.
Sigh. I still have yet to try Justin’s. I’m really crossing my fingers that it’s in Toronto because so much else seems to be!
Considering that I was up at 5:00 this morning to go to the bathroom and it took me a solid hour to fall back asleep…I need to consider cutting back on the water at night. I’m usually pretty good at it, but yesterday I was particularly thirsty…I blame hot yoga.
And ughhhh needles. Can you bring someone with you? I refuse to be by myself when I have to get blood drawn – so I have someone to talk to and distract me.
Mmm, Justin’s. Swansons doesn’t have the vanilla almond butter, so if we find that in Park City I’mma stock up.
iHerb has it! They also have the maple one, and both are peanut-free! WOO! Actually, that totally just made my day 😆
I have the same problem with my beloved Soy Latte, I crave it for so long, then finally cave in and buy one, and it just doesn’t taste as good as I thought it would. Maybe I just have too have of a bar for it haha? And yum!! The coconut and glazed chocolate donut sound super good!! Hahaha I dip raisins into my nut butters, and I’ve found some in the jar later on. And I always wonder, how did I not eat that, how did I not see that??
I’m with you on the water!! I stop drinking a lot 2 hrs before bed. I wake up dehydrated, but at least I slept!
I try my best not drink water or anything else after 7 at night. If I do, I’m up going to the bathroom, which is such a horrible disruption of sleep. It’s so hard to get back to sleep after getting up!
I have yet to try Justin’s almond butter. I’ve been putting it off and putting it off because it’s on the expensive side, but I should really just bite the bullet and get a jar. Problem is…I know I’ll love it and never want to turn back to the cheaper stuff again. What to do!?!
Try to make your own fun flavours at home? 😀 That’s what I’m thinking about doing since I can’t seem to find my beloved maple ANYWHERE.
I have to get up in the middle of the night to pee EVERY night, no matter how late I drink water! So I don’t even bother with a cut-off point. So annoying.
P.S. My first link isn’t working for some reason so I added another, and I can’t delete the first one I added, oopsies!
oh my gosh donut house coffee is the BEST!! I rarely buy k-cups, but when I do, its always donut house. Although I typically just stick to their plain coffee, Im sure their flavored ones are good too 🙂
I literally laughed out loud when I saw your half a date. bahahahaah. no but really, that’s some mad will power to leave half 😉 just kidding, you and I both know you probably were half asleep and forgot you even dropped it in there <3
as for the needle thing, I don't really have any advice. Ive been getting prodded since I was young due to all my injuries and what not, so I just learned to deal. Now I straight up stare at the thing as they drive it into my vein. Doesn't bother me one bit! I'll be sending you good vibes though!
Yep, I understand you when you say that you have not some food in Canada. Because I live in Russia, and we have no many unique products! To find nut butter it is a really problem! Not to mention other remarkable/tasty things which the American bloggers share 😉
Surprise Justin’s AB?? I bet that would just make your whole day! 😉
Chocolate donut coffee? Let us know how that is!
I don’t necessarily cut myself off of water at a certain time of night, but I definitely try to drink more during the day and cut back after 8 or so.
I’ve never had almond butter. I really should give that a go sometime.
and your coffee photos made me want another cup..thanks for that 🙂
I try to stop drinking water around 8 because I definitely wake up in the middle of the night if I don’t. A cup of tea before bed? That means I’ll be taking a 2 am trip to the bathroom. I don’t like the conundrum because I really do love my nightly tea… What comes to mind today is that I STILL am going to email you I promise. I just need something witty to say when I do… Lol. Happy Thursday xo
And here I was thinking you forgot about me! Forget being witty! I just wanna chat with ya <3
I LOVE flavored coffees!
I loathe getting my blood Athens. The best thing that helped me was the nurse asking me questions and making talk while it happened. I slightly distracted myself and I was too proud to stop talking. Just tell the nurse you’re scared and ask her to keep you talking 🙂
I literally was just thinking about how I wish my coffee cup would magically refill itself. Because A) I don’t want to leave my bed. and B) I limit myself to one cup a day – so if it refills before it’s full, that’s still one cup right??
I HATE getting my blood drawn. It’s not even because of the needles–it’s just unpleasant. (This coming from someone who wants to work in the healthcare field when I graduate…)
Most things I’ve read recommend you stop drinking water an hour or two before you go to bed, but I always drink water straight up until I go to bed because if not, I’ll wake up because my throat is scratchy and uncomfortable and needs water. It’s so much worse during the spring, too, because of my allergies to pollen…
Oh I totally hate when your coffee isn’t as good as imagined. I used to love lattes but they’re way to pricey. Lately, when I treat myself to an expensive coffee I’m always thinking “waan waan”, not good. I’ve since made the switch to tea and it seems to be better plus there are so many specialty shops with unlimited selections. But yes that last sip is the worst and the first sip is the best cause it’s still piping hot 🙂 Have fun on the mountain, it looks beautiful!
What’s a DRY cappuccino? I’m intrigued.
That scared me – I thought you JUST opened the jar & a half of a date was in there. I would freak out.
Yep – I only drink water & try to limit it after 8 (go to bed about 10-11) or I’m up at least once to pee. I’m also 42 – that could have something to do with it 🙂
A dry cappuccino is just a regular cappuccino with less milk and more foam. The regular ratio is something like 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, and 1/3 foam, so a dry would be closer to 1/3 espresso and 2/3 foam — it just makes the coffee flavour stronger.
I like things more sweeter & sugary 🙂 So is there a “wet” cappuccino? With extra chocolate & whipped topping 🙂 haha
I am so glad you have the same love for coffee as I do! seriously. my wallet hates me too, but something about a long day and telling yourself your getting a cappuccino makes the day a little more exciting! – I tagged you for the liebster award for my thinking out loud, check it out! 🙂
<3 Definitely looking forward to filling it out!
I’m giggling at the fact that all but one of your photos is of food, because every time I link up with you on Thursdays I have a hard time not doing the same. Is it just me or do runners love any opportunity to talk about coffee and nut butters and carbs? I know I do! 😉
I don’t have my Keruig anymore, I just have a fancy coffee maker, but I’m kind of considering bringing back the Keurig for flavoured coffees because YUM! I also added coconut oil to my coffee this weekend (I blended it together in my blender) and it was ridiculous. Soooo good! But definitely just a treat 🙂
OMG, those donuts look A-MA-ZING. I’m with you on the fancy coffee disappointment. I HATE it when I spend the money on one of those things and it sucks. It’s such a disappointment. 🙁 The date in the nut butter = LMAO. 😀
What is a “dry” cappuccino? I’m intrigued! I’m with you on getting a little sad when I’m about to finish up my mug of coffee. It’s one of the best parts of my morning!
It’s just a regular cappuccino with less milk and more foam. So instead of 1/3 espresso, 1/3 milk, and 1/3 foam, it’s closer to 1/3 espresso and 2/3 foam — it just makes the coffee flavour a lot stronger.
needles, try this:
deep breaths and about they time they are going to stick you, pinch yourself somewhere! I know if sounds crazy, but it works (at least for me). You focus on the pinching and forget about the needle stick!
Ah, I know the fear of needles! I have actually passed out before and it’s not fun! If you lay down while it happens it helps with the passing out feeling and then getting yourself a treat afterward 🙂 not only will it make you feel better but it’ll help with the wonky feeling.
I think we have a similar mind set when it comes to coffee…
1. I ALWAYS savor the last sip because I also limit myself to 1 single cup (stomach gets weird) Its like I wish the cup just lasted forever it just tastes so good !
2. I really am sad when the baristas at Starbucks are new… i ordered my favorite peppermint mocha latte the other day bc I know its going away and it was NOT as good. So disappointing. They were just so busy and the guy didn’t know what he was doing. Fail 🙁
3. ummmm i REALLY want to try that coconut mocha !! omg dying.. where can I get those !?!?!?
On the water thing.. i used to have this problem and would have to pee in the middle of the night its the WORST… so I stopped drinking water as soon as I got home (6-7pm) and then have 1 glass with dinner.. and im good to good (usually have tea of some sort before bed too) try it out ! as long as you are hydrated during the day you are fine 🙂
Have fun snowboarding, I already told you those granola bars were on my list of items to bake ! !Maybe I will this weekend too lol
Confession: sometimes if I get a bad drink, I’ll actually ask them to remake it. I figure that if I’m paying out the wazoo for coffee, I might as well get what I want. And I bought the K-cups on Keurig.com — they have TONNES of amazing sounding flavours, and I have a feeling that I’ll be talking about the ones I got in future ToLs.
Coconut Mocha is my #1 favorite flavored KCUP!!! It’s so delish! Good choice! As far as getting blood drawn, I’ve been poked so many times it’s become an every day thing to me 😛 I don’t know if it will help you, but I always watch EVERYTHING they’re doing so I know when I’ll feel the prick and everything. I know what I’ll be feeling and just prepare myself mentally. Good luck!!!
PS. You should definitely try OIAJ again so the hard clumps at the bottom get all warmed and slide out with your oats. It’s seriously my favorite.
It’s kinda bizarre you are talking about k-cups because I have recently ran into some major life decisions (about coffee) -real life problems, right? :)Anyways, I am re-budgeting my finances so I can switch up my living situation. That means cutting pennies where I can. First things to go are my gym membership, 1 jar of pb a month, more frozen veggies, etc. The little things. BUT my biggest issue is coffee. Coffee makes my world go around. Coffee makes me go, “mmm,MMM…damn, that’s toasty, purrr” Minus the purr, it’s more like an awkward satisfactory humming noise. Anddddd queue the crickets 😯 Merp.
My point- I also have a magic coffee baby making Keurig. It kills me to dish out $24 a month for 2 boxes of my beloved flavored k-cups. I had an “ah-hah!” moment yesterday. Have you ever tried the re-usable k-cups? I am going to pick one up tomorrow (and a mug warmer 😉 ) and start buying flavored coffee in bags instead of pre-packaged k-cups. Same thing, just a little more effort and $16 vs. $24. Maybe I can mix and match flavors too…! I think I am trying to rationalize my decision by telling you all of this, so feel free to chime in your opinion.
Thanks for allowing me to vent my crazy persuasive essay on your post! Good thing today is all for thinking out loud <3
Yup! I have a re-usable K-cup and it works really well! The only reason I’ve kind of stopped using it lately is because I’ve been lazy, but other than that, it makes great coffee. And yes, yes, YES on mixing flavours! You’re going to love it 🙂
Hmm … I definitely pee at LEAST 2 times per night, and I’ve never really thought about limiting water later in the day. I don’t think it’s worth it to me since I can literally fall back asleep in 10 seconds, but it might be something to consider for you!
That half eaten date in the almond butter jar is hilarious! Hope you’re enjoying the donut coffee and I love the coconut mocha flavor too. Good luck on getting your blood taken…. just close your eyes and envision being up in the mountains on your snowboard. 😉
Chocolate glazed donut and coconut mocha sound delicious!! I can’t wait to hear what you think! I can’t even fathom snowboarding right now. It’s around 70 to 80 degrees where I am!!
mmmmm….those donuts!!!!
I savor my cup of coffee in the morning too… I was so sad when it was over today! The chocolate glazed donut flavor coffee IS pretty good! I like all of the ones you have pictured. 🙂 Oh, & I hate when that happens about having something you once loved… & it just wasn’t that good. Boo!
As for the needles/blood… my husband has a huge fear of needles/blood & he usually passes out for blood work. Anyway, he found a tip that listening to your headphones & music you like while getting it done helps… it helped him not pass out completely this time, he only got woozy. 😉 Good luck!!
A lot of people have been mentioning that, actually, so I’m definitely going to give it a try.
I’ll drink water right up until the lights go out! I have to wake up super early anyway, so having to pee is a good motivator to get me out of bed, haha. I’m a total coffee fiend, too, so I’m basically running to the bathroom all day long.
I can relate to the Starbucks incident. I used to love peppermint mochas and then I had one last year and it was gross! I honestly prefer just regular coffee these days. I try to only have one cup and then if I need more caffeine I do green tea. I have an iron deficiency and need to have blood work done regularly. I always try to distract myself in some way i.e. read something on my phone or strike up a conversation with the person drawing blood. I also take a deep breath in and focus on releasing it very slowly. Good luck!
Whenever I step into Starbucks I always think maybe one day soon I’ll treat myself to a Latte – that new vanilla one looks deelish. But when I’ve splurged and done it I actually end up just wishing I got my regular pike too. Guess I’ve done a good job of weaning off the sugar!
I try and stop drinking water about an hour or two before I go to sleep… I found that I have the same problem as you..or that I’m waking up every 3 hours or so to go pee. I usually wake up relatively dehydrated (mouth breather..so attractive), but I don’t go to the bathroom as much during the night!!
I have to drink water up until I go to b ed, and then I have to have a glass beside my bed. I get headaches if I don’t drink enough, so I’d rather wake up having to go to the bathroom than with a pounding head.
At least that’s all you found when you opened up the almond butter.
Can you imagine my surprise when I opened up a can of Reinzi cannellini beans to find a mouse brain in it. I took pics of it and actually cut it in half , took it to my neurologist and she confirmed indeed that it is a mouse / rat brain.
You can see the brain stem inside
😯 That might just be the grossest thing I ever heard. I don’t think I’d be able to eat beans after something like that…
#3…a girl after my own heart 🙂
I ended up buying a Delonghi fully automatic machine so I could get my fix. I am hooked on americano misto these days. And, I to am very sad to see the bottom of my cup in the morning!
I used to be the same way about needles. I seem to be outgrowing it since having kids.
I still need to find that Justin’s Almond Butter. I’m heading to AZ soon so I will hunt for it.
Enjoy the slopes!
Are you limiting coffee because of caffeine? Why don’t you just drink decaf?
Nope! It’s not the caffeine. There’s something in coffee that messes with my stomach — even when I’m drinking decaf.
HOLY 70!!!!!! You’re gonna sleep welllllll tonight!
Um so I just finished dinner and now all I want is a damn donute. WHY SPOONS WHY?!?! Don’t go to the mountains. Come here. C is going to London so we can play without the boys. Who needs em anyway?
starbucks has been disappointing me lately too, haha! the other day i went in and ordered an iced caramel latte because it had been a while since i’d ordered a fancy drink. by the time i got home i decided that they completely forgot the espresso because it tasted like disgusting watered down milk, haha. needless to say i won’t be heading back anytime soon! peet’s has got my heart for now 🙂
I savor my coffee. Every.single.morning. I literally wake up excited to eat my oatmeal and drink my cup of coffee. Is that weird? Let’s hope not. 😉
Those coffee flavors look mighty good! Along with the donuts.. and the almond butter.. and the chewy granola bars. I’m going coo-coo for food here!
I hope all goes well with the blood getting drawn! Mess around on your phone while it happens.
Have fun with the slopes!
Confession: I’ve been adding more and more almond milk to my coffee lately so that my tummy can handle more than one cup. I’m addicted.
i’m going to comment entirely on your drinks. 1.) yes. i cry over just about every “last sip” of coffee ever. it might be the worst part of my day. and 2.) there is definitely a time every night when i start weighing my incredible thirst with the knowledge that i will absolutely wake up at 4 AM and not ever be able to get back to sleep. so i usually go to bed thirsty. 😉
thanks for hosting thursdays, as always!
Justin’s Almond Butter is amazing!!! I don’t even hesitate at it’s high price tag!! When I’m feeling indulgent, I’ll eat it straight out of the jar with a spoon 🙂
That’s one of the best ways to do it 😀
If our wallets ever got together, they probably would have a grand ol’ time ranting about how much money we can both spend on Starbucks haha! I don’t even want to think about how much money went down the drain the last two weeks of my finals/studying. *Shudder*. Wish it had tasted better for ya!
With water, I usually try not to drink too much after 8, or I’ll be up around 4 or 5 in the morning to go to the bathroom. And I usually try to ignore all the “you should drink X amount at X time of day” when it comes to water. I drink when I’m thirsty and am not dead yet, so I must be doing something right haha 😉
The Cinnamon Roll coffee is amazing, I really want to try that coconut mocha one now too. Ya I visit Starbucks way too often, and ya know what? Sometimes its so much nicer to sip from you own keurig with a blankie while browsing blogs 😉
I hate it when I go to treat myself to something I used to love and it winds up underwhelming 🙁 Those granola bars look amazeballs and I see them in my near future
This advice might be too late now, but I’ve found that eating a good-sized meal (that contains a food that’s high in iron) about 30-45 minutes before having blood drawn helps me get through it without a hitch. I’ve donated blood many times and this is finally what works for me – otherwise I almost pass out too!
I think it’s actually more a mental thing for me — I’m just super scared of them!
I’ve never had coffee … I guess started as a religious thing (LDS/Mormon) but I actually just think I wouldn’t like it. I’m super picky when it comes to eating, and even more when it comes to drinking. I don’t care for the smell at all! There are so many articles now expounding on the health benefits of coffee and tea, but I don’t think I’ll ever try them …
Love the forgotten date! I thought I was the only one who finds dipping-remnants in nut butter jars 😉 One tip that helps me when I give blood is a decent meal before, pretty protein & fat rich. Tbh, And positive ‘I will not pass out’ thoughts aren’t bad either!
Yum for the chocolate glazed doughnut coffee! They have the French toast at my office, but I have to say that I wasn’t much of a fan. Boo!
I love your granola bars! I wish I had more protein powder, but I don’t really have an extra $30 on hand right now (looking at you, Starbucks and car saving! 😉 )
How was the chocolate donut coffee?? I love flavored coffee. I’ve had the coconut mocha one before (the packaging looks so different in the US!) and loved it.
I haven’t actually gotten a chance to try it yet because I just put in my order so it hasn’t come around. Better be soon!
