. 14 healthier chocolate desserts that will make you weak in the knees .

February 6, 2015 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 51 Comments

Today’s post is not for the faint of heart.

It’s for the serious chocolate lovers. The cocoa connoisseurs (wow did I ever butcher that word). The chocoholics who are looking to score some brownie points with their loved ones (or themselves) this Valentine’s Day by whipping up some healthy-but-delicious chocolate laden desserts. This post is for you guys.

14-Healthier-Chocolate-Desserts

I’ve been meaning to introduce recipe roundups to Spoons for quite a while now, and I figured that Valentine’s Day would be the perfect day to start since it’d give me an excuse to scrounge the web for delicious chocolate desserts made healthier. Yup! All these desserts look absolutely sinful, but they’re actually relatively healthy by being lightened up and/or made with wholesome ingredients.

So I hope you find something that makes you and your Valentine weak in the knees. I know the big day is still a week away, but that just means there’s plenty of time to experiment and taste test, right? Right.

Mmm I want all of these!

The last chocolate treat I had was cookies with chocolate chips in them on Thursday night. JZ and I were testing them out to decide if they’re blog worthy (they are!).

I have the biggest sweet tooth. i really need to take time to bake more so I can go for something like these treats, instead of just dipping in to the cookies my husband buys.

Looking at this list is putting me in a chocolate coma! So much goodness. Especially your brownies!

The last chocolate treat I had was a quinoa cupcake. I’ve tested so many batches over the last month that I kind of don’t want another one for a really long time, haha. But of course I have plans to make more this weekend. Such is the life of a food blogger. 😉

    Have a great weekend, girly!

Well color me chocolate, there’s a sofa in here for two.

I still love your flourless chocolate brownies. That smoothie isn’t bad either, and I’m allowed to say these things because I’ve made and consumed both more than once.

So, I don’t need to know where you are on a spiritual level, as long as you keep posting chocolate recipes (breakfast or not, I’ll eat them before 10am anyway). I worship at the Church of Chocolate, and imma baptize myself with all of these desserts. Amen.

I like the strawberry and chocolate combination. I’m a fan of dark chocolate the best. I love the slightly bitter taste. The last treat I had was the red velvet cake in Rochester, I think after eating at least 1/4 of the cake, I’m still riding that cocoa high LOL.

I honestly don’t know where to begin Amanda with all the great options you’ve given here! My favorite I think is that chocolate mousse smoothie, I’m just drooling over that. Looks so good! My husband and I were actually talking about you and your blog last night….(hope that doesn’t freak you out!) We were actually talking about where you were or thought you might be on a spiritual/religious level. One of our favorite topics =) We are so interested to know what people believe in that realm. Have an awesome weekend! We do really find you such a sincere person and do enjoy your blog =)

Girllll. I can’t even. So much chocolate. I had a bar of dark chocolate a couple nights ago. Didn’t have time to mess around in the kitchen while studying so I went straight to the source.
Definitely making one or more chocolatey goodies this weekend tho 😀
