for lack of a better title… (ToL #224)

March 2, 2017 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 26 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. You GUYS!! Thank you SO much for all your amazing support on the cookbook! The whole thing still feels a little surreal to me, and having you guys send me pictures and messages saying you already got your copy in the mail is just rocking my socks right off. Seriously. Thank you so, so, so, so much. You’re the real MVPs and I heart you forever.

2. In other news, when did they change the flavour of green Skittles?!? The last time I had them, the green ones were still lime flavoured… so imagine my surprise when I went to grab one – expecting to hate it – and was pleasantly surprised with  the lovely taste of green apple. Granted, I can’t even remember the last time I bought a baggie of these guys, but I approve of the change. Now if only they’d change the yellow ones to something else. Banana, maybe? I think Runts have been the only banana-flavoured candy that I’ve ever had.

3. But anyways! The real reason I dragged my butt to the store the other day was to restock on some eye makeup staples. Both my mascara and eyebrow pencil decided to run out at the same.exact.time, and the replacements I tried just made me cry. I mean, not literally (I’m pretty sure all that stuff is hypoallergenic or ophthalmologist tested or what have you), but they just didn’t compare. So yeah. I definitely recommend these if you’re in the market for something new.

Must Have Eye Makeup

4. I also grabbed this tube of concealer, but I honestly can’t tell you why. I don’t exactly need concealer, and I haven’t heard anything about this one, but it was there and apparently “new” so I decided to try it out. If it’s good, you’ll see it in a future favourites post. If it’s not, we’ll never speak of it again and pretend this never happened.

5. And while we’re talking products (none of this is sponsored, promise), I’ve been crushing on this coconut yogurt from Silk hardcore. I’m still mostly avoiding dairy since it’s what seems to trigger my eczema, and while it hasn’t been terribly hard, I was definitely missing yogurt. I’m not gonna go ahead and say that this coconut yogurt tastes exactly like the real kind, but it still tastes great and has a good texture. Definitely something to look into if you’re dairy-free.

6. And I think I’m going to end things there for this week. I’m actually hoping to play around with Spoons’ layout over the next couple of days, so don’t be surprised if things look a little different. Nothing major, just swapping some colours around and changing how things are placed. Hope you guys have an awesome Thursday!

I get eczema too and am wondering if I should lay off the dairy and see if that helps. Mine is mostly triggered by stress, so this hasn’t been a good week for my skin lol.

Have you tried the So Delicious brand coconut milk yogurts? They have plain and flavored ones. That brand has been my favorite so far.

I’ve tried many of your recipes and loved them so I was very excited when my cook book arrived this week. Can’t wait to spend some time this weekend going through it and trying to decide what to make first…hmmmm? Thanks for putting together such a beautiful book of deliciousness!!

They changed skittles?? So weird they changed one of the main flavors when they have so many other varieties…they must have been getting complaints!

I LOVE the green apple Skittles. Another flavour I’d like to pop up is blue raspberry like the Sourpatch Kids new candies. I don’t think banana would go over too well, but pineapple possibly? I dunno, I remember all my friends picked around the banana Runtz and threw them out haha. Thanks for the throwback memories!

I didn’t know about the Skittles swap until recently when I watched a YouTube video where they were tasting Skittles (that wasn’t the point of the video, but I honestly don’t remember what video it was or what it was about 😆), and they said the green one was green apple. I was shocked and exclaimed to my sister, “that’s wrong! The green is lime!!” She couldn’t remember for sure, but thought it had been green apple the whole time; however, I knew that back in my high school days when I used to have Skittles, it was lime (especially as I’m pretty sure I would like a green apple flavor better). So we looked it up, and Skittles changed the green flavor in 2013 (they tested it temporarily in 2008, but then ended switching back to lime until 2013). So we aren’t going crazy. 😜

WHAT – they changed the green Skittle to green apple? NOT OKAY. Yes, I’m that weirdo who loves the green candies most. I’ve been enjoying SIlk’s new coconut yogurt too. I like that they actually package in REAL adult containers instead of those weird tiny containers that contain maybe 1.5 servings.

If I have to choose a candy – it’s Kit Kats.

    Congrats on the book.

I don’t even know if I could tell the falvour of skittles, they just taste like sugar to me. Now I’m wondering about the flavour change though…

I haven’t seen that coconut yogurt, but it looks so good! And I want to try those green skittles again. Green apple is a good flavor.

I hate green apple flavor. I will probably forgive skittles though because skittles are amazing.

I’ve totally had the same thought with the new Skittles! Boo, green apple. Lime all the way. Maybe they’ll change it back someday…

That I need to try that yogurt! I love dairy but it’s been giving me stomach problems lately so I need to find that! I can’t remember the last time I had skittles and I despise the lime flavor but I’ll have to try the newer version and see if the taste has changed!

I don’t think I’ve ever paid attention to Skittle flavors, I totally just stuff them all in my mouth, haha. Usually I’m a chocolate person, but when I need something sugary sweet it’s always Skittles or Sweedish Fish.

I was talking to someone yesterday, trying to explain my love of chocolate but my lack of affection for cheese. Finally, I just told her that her cheese was my chocolate, my cheese was her chocolate.

Glad you are having good luck with eye makeup products. I have been on a mission (or journey rather) to find the perfect eyelash curler that curls my entire lash line. Three fails so far! The company that made my old one isn’t even around anymore 😂

My candy of choice is of course chocolate — I haven’t eaten skittles in decades. I’m not sure I’d choose them even if they were chocolate coated. 🙂

I’m excited to see what you do with the layout. I love it now, but it will look great.

I didn’t realize they changed the skittles flavor either. I haven’t had skittles in forever though!

I was just thinking yesterday that I need to get my hands on your book! so exciting and still so proud of you! I never ate the green skittles (I would pick around) but they shouldn’t be allowed to change the colors on us.
