. thinking out loud #60 .

January 9, 2014 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 126 Comments

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. Remember back when I actually used to post random facts on these random thought days? Yeah, me neither. That being the case, let’s kick things off with some random facts that’ll make you everyone’s first pick for trivia game partner…

RF PMS Face

RF Swallow Tongue

RF Sugar

RF Bible Unicorns

RF Facebook Fear

1. Funny because breakouts and oiliness make me feel a -tad- less beautiful…
2. What I wanna know is… how’d they test this one?
3. That’s a lot of rainbows. Do you have a favourite colour of Skittles? Mine is red…
4. I -had- to Google this one, and apparently it’s true… but not as exciting as you might imagine.
5. That would be awkward… Just like sending a text/message to the wrong person… 😯

2. Remember how I admitted to rockin’ the Christmas socks underneath my boots? I wasn’t kidding…

Christmas Socks

… and I’ll probably be doing it until at least mid-March.

3. Speaking of Christmas, please tell me I’m not the only one who still has all of her decorations up…

Christmas Decor

It’s not even that I don’t want to take them down — I’ve just gotten so used to them that I hardly even notice anymore. They really do have to go, though… My tree is currently sitting in the spot where I take all of my food photos, so that’s been a little inconvenient to work around #foodbloggerproblems. I would say that I’ll take it all down this weekend, but that doesn’t seem likely to happen because…

4. β€¦ the cold spell has finally broken…

Cold Spell Broken

5. β€¦ and I’ll be heading up to the mountains on Saturday morning! Whoop whoop. I’m in desperate need of some time on the slopes after basically becoming a shut-in thanks to this nasty weather, so you’d better believe that I plan on taking full advantage of this blessed respite from the cold by spending as much time with my snowboard as I possibly can. Can.not.wait.

6. Can.not.go without road trip snacks, either… which means that I need to whip up another batch of granola bars in the next couple of days seeing as this is all that’s left of the last one…

Last Granola Bar Crumb

… and now that’s gone too πŸ˜₯ What can I say? They taste like cookies…

7. Edit:  I went ahead and whipped up another batch approximately 5.5 minutes after writing down #6 ^^ …  Now the trick is going to be making them last through the next two days. I can do this… maybe.

Granola Bars Batch 2

8. I’ll just turn my attention to these chocolate and vanilla bunnies instead… You know those foods that completely annihilate all your sense of proper portion control? Yup. Well played, Annie… well played indeed.

Annies Bunnies

9. So hey! We’re about a week into 2014 now, and for those of you who are doing it with me, how are your memory jars coming along? Are you still keeping up with them? Or have you already thrown in the towel? πŸ˜‰ Still time to catch up!

2014 Notes

10. And now for my favourite part… reading your guys’ random thoughts! Seriously one of the highlights of my Thursday…

Love the random facts! My favorite Skittles are the green ones. πŸ™‚
Glad your cold weather spell has finally started to break… our temps are supposed to jump 50 degrees tomorrow, to a high of 30 & snow. I’ll take it over this horrid cold though. Good luck w/the granola bars! πŸ˜‰

YES to rocking Christmas socks! And while we’re on the topic, wearing gym clothes underneath your regular clothes is a major plus to these frigid temps. Yep. Everyone’s doing it…okay, maybe just me?

It actually isn’t impossible to swallow your tongue. It’s just impossible to swallow it while it’s still attached to you! If you chopped that sucker off, you’d definitely be able to swallow it down. Haha ;).

So happy that you guys are getting some nicer weather. Enjoy the snowboarding!!

I don’t know if it’s actually that a woman is “more beautiful” in the traditional sense of the word during that time of month, but I know that they’re more attractive to men in general because it’s a sign that the woman is fertile. I think certain pheromones are released that men (unconsciously, of course) pick up on. (Science nerd here…)

Haha, that is going to be me with some no bake choc/date bars I made … I can’t keep my hands off them! I can eat a whole 8×8 pan in two days, easy. I still have snowflakes in my room, but I’m calling them wintery, not Christmas-y … it works, right? I’ll have to go google the unicorns in the Bible. I love finding random facts like that … the info will serve me well at some point … I hope. πŸ™‚

To be honest, I’m not actually sure. I picked it up from Homesense, which is a home goods store kind of like TJMaxx, and I have no idea where it came from before that…

I definitely took all my decorations down the day after Christmas haha. I get in the mood to purge the second a holiday is over. I’m so glad the weather is turning around, too. I walked into workout without gloves and a hat and it felt awesome!

I kind of proud of myself. I’ve been keeping up with the Memory Jar Project! I’ve been doing it at night before going to bed. I think it has already become a habit and I love ending the day this way!

I think the fact about women being more beautiful during menstruation might be a valiant attempt to make women have more self-confidence during an otherwise crappy time. Perhaps πŸ™‚
I hope you have a wonderful time in the mountains this weekend! Thinking of being outside in the cold right now makes me want to hide in a [warm] hole, but I’m sure snowboarding will make it worth it. I just go outside to go to school really, so I don’t have the most favorable association with the cold πŸ˜‰

Okay, so fun fact #5 about Facebook!!! This actually happened to a guy I know (a friend of a friend)… he was sneaking around on his girlfriend and “searched” this other random girl he’d “met”. Anyway, he didn’t realize he’d made her name his status update and it was there for some time. Needless to say, it didn’t end well!!! Karma’s a B!

I totally know people who have used the status bar as the search bar lol…And yes, I have totally sent text messages to the wrong people. On more than one occasion and one of those occasions was my former boss while I was supposed to be working. Uh huh. Not too smart of me lol

That Facebook fact? A true fear of mine, haha πŸ˜‰ And to be quite honest, the only reason my Christmas decorations are down is that the little tree I purchased started dying so I threw it (along with the ornaments) out :/ I also had no other decorations up since they are all packed away at my MIL’s house!

Funny because I do fear using the status update as the search. hahaha. Anyways-

Christmas socks are the warmest. I’ll be wearing them at the house or under shoes until March as well. Random thought from me: Have you ever seen a goose land? I think it is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while, though they are still terrifying creatures.

πŸ˜† When I first read your comment, I thought “a good land” was some kind of documentary or YouTube film — but you actually mean a live goose landing on the ground, right? I feel smart πŸ˜† But yeah I’ve seen them. And yeah I’m terrified of them — I got chased by a pack of big Canadian geese when I was little. Still traumatized.
