new leggings, heart shaped pizzas, & a book i love (ToL#170)

February 18, 2016 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 103 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. Please tell me you’ve noticed the awesomeness that is the days getting longer! I’m not sure when it happened, but all of a sudden it went from being dark at 4pm to still being reasonably bright out at 5:30. Pretty soon I’ll be annoyed with the sun for still being out at 10pm when I’m trying to fall asleep. Can.not.wait.

Goodnight

2. So I’m pretty sure that Spoons is out of the danger zone as far as technical issues go… and as stressful as the whole experience was, it definitely taught me a lot about the behind-the-scenes of blogging and made me realize that I can actually do a lot more techie stuff than I originally gave myself credit for [with tech support and Google’s help]. Next up on my list of things to tackle is world domination updating my ‘About Me‘ page, which I’ve been putting off for far too long considering how important of a page it is. Oops.

 3. I’d also like to go in and get some head shots taken by a professional photographer, but I keep putting it off because I always feel reaaaaaally awkward when I’m getting my picture taken. Still, it’s something that I’ll need to do [soon] because all I have on here are selfies and I’d like something that looks a little more polished… Anyone want to give me a “just get over it and go do it” pep talk? Thanks.

Selfie Collage

4. Remember that pizza craving I mentioned last week? I didn’t end up making one from scratch, but I did go out for the cutest Valentine’s-themed pizza this past weekend…

Heart Pizza

I know! I don’t think I’ve ever had a heart-shaped pizza before, but it’s definitely something that I wouldn’t mind repeating.

5. Another thing I did this past weekend? A little bit of shopping. You know how I mentioned that most of my wardrobe is made up of black clothes? I’ve been meaning to bust out of my “black legging comfort zone” and pick up something a little more fun, so I decided to take advantage of some rare shopping motivation and head out to the mall to see what caught my eye. These did…

New Leggings

I know, I know. Still mostly black, but… baby steps 😂

6. So I’m really loving the book I’m reading right now – Morning Star by Pierce Brown.

Morning Star Book

I was hoping to have it finished by now, buuuuuut this past week has been a little crazy and the only time I’ve really been able to read has been right before bed. Either way… it’s still managed to keep me up later than I’d normally stay up. So good. Fingers crossed that it ends well. I don’t want another repeat of what happened when I finished Allegiant (read: a book may or may not have been thrown against a wall).

7. Have you guys seen the trailer for The Jungle Book?! I seriously love Disney for giving me an excuse to watch so many of my childhood favourites as an adult. Disney? Can we do Aladdin next? K thx bai.

[youtube=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtR9tqPa48s&w=640&h=427″]

8. So today (Wednesday) was kind of a loopy day, and I’m 100% ready to veg out on my couch and do some reading. I hope you guys don’t mind me cutting it short, but at least I ended things on an even number 😉 Hope you’re having an awesome Thursday! Do something good today!

That pizza!! So cute. And I feel you on the professional photos thing…I was so nervous to get mine but it was actually really fun. Photographers are usually good at making you not feel awkward! I also recommend not bringing anyone with you to do it because I can’t imagine having Danny or a friend there while I was “pretending to laugh” hahaha

Yours turned out so gorgeous! And I definitely think it’s all about feeling comfortable. I’m good when I don’t know that my picture is being taken. It’s when I become aware of it that the awkwardness starts coming out 😆

Yessss! I have noticed the days getting longer as well. It was like it happened all of a sudden. But I am oh so appreciative of a few more minutes of daylight each day. And next month we spring forward!

I hadn’t heard about The Jungle Book, but it was one of my favorites as a kid and now I’m so excited! That pizza looks delicious 🙂 I feel I am super awkward in front of the camera, but I think finding a photographer you’re comfortable with is key. A really good photographer kind of gets to know you as they shoot and makes the whole experience feel like you’re hanging out with a friend, and consequently captures a pretty authentic “you”. Somewhere in there, it turns fun!

I love the days getting longer. I no longer have to use a flashlight when walking home! When it comes to work pants and leggings I gravitate towards black but my shirts I aim for color. Black bottoms just match everything. I did finally get some sark navy work pants recently. A jump out of my comfort zone but they work well with most of my tops.

I feel so awkward with professional shots. Maybe we should meet up and do them together so we can feel awkward together. LOL! p.s. I cannot stand time change. I”m the only one that likes it dark at 6:30pm. I’m weird.

Yep – totally did the same thing with Allegiant. I STILL cant believe she did that to us. With the movie coming out soon I typically re-read the book as a refresher but screwwwww that! I’m hoping Hollywood doctors the film to change the ending, otherwise I’m not forking over $12!
I’m still waiting for Under the Never Sky to be made into a movie….

I’m soooooo happy the days are getting longer! I had tea with a friend last night and we were talking about how days just feel longer when it’s daylight longer and we miss that! Love those leggings! I’ve gotten out of my comfort zone a little with black leggings – I have a pair of dark blue and dark purple. I tried on some hot pink ones the other day and they were SO cute, but I’m just not there yet with the color. 😉

I don’t know if you’re still planning on making your own pizza, but my family loves it when I make ours with a homemade sweet potato crust (kind of fluffy and biscuity) which is great for a veg pizza. I love straight up fresh spinach and roasted red peppers. Can’t beat the combo in my book! Great with either alfredo sauce or a traditional red sauce. Yum! Maybe we’ll be doing pizza for dinner tonight?

I love color, but I do have to be a wee bit careful with colored leggings, since my bottom half is where I carry my weight. Some are fine, some not so much.

My husband made heart shaped pizzas for the family on Valentine’s Day. It was pretty darn cute. And those leggings are wicked cute. I have two pairs of bright blue yoga capris that took me out of my all black legging stage. I’m still a fan of all black but those 2 pairs give me a little pop when I’m feeling sassy.
