. thinking out loud #131 .

May 21, 2015 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 66 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. Today’s post is brought to you by tomorrow’s recipe — I call them “energy balls on ‘roids”…

Balls on Roids

πŸ˜† Okay, so that’s like half the batch, but I may very well have ended up eating that much with all the taste-testing that I did, and it worked wonders in getting me through the unexplained energy slump that was plaguing me for most of yesterday. I have no idea what it was, but I was dragging hardcore and couldn’t work up the motivation to do anything. Another example of how chocolate is the answer to [most of] life’s little problems. I hope you don’t mind dealing with a slightly hyper me πŸ˜›

2. Okay! So like I mentioned in yesterday’s recap, today’s ToL will be a collection of random Blend thoughts that didn’t really fit with the general recap, starting with this one –> I’m useless without my electric toothbrush. It’s true. I normally leave my electric toothbrush at home when I travel, and I either forgot how to brush my teeth manually or it doesn’t hold a candle to doing it the electric way, because my teeth never really felt quite as clean while I was away. Ick.

Electric Toothbrush

3. Another fail? Realizing that my Epipen was expired about 1 hour before I had to leave for the airport. I have to carry one of those suckers around with me because of my peanut allergy (but I try not to think about it because — hello — terrified of needles), and I didn’t realize that it expired back in December until — yeah — about 1 hour before I had to leave. A quick Google search told me that expired Epipens are [usually] still effective if the liquid isn’t cloudy/discoloured, but I definitely ended up being a lot more cautious with food while I was away… and getting a new one as soon as I got back. One day I’ll learn my lesson and not leave all my packing until the last minute. One day.

4. Oh! And one day I’ll also learn to not leave my dress shopping until the last minute either. Remember how I said that I had my eye on this dress?

Bebe Lace Banded Dress

Well, apparently so did the rest of Edmonton, because they were all sold out of it when I went to look. Womp, womp. But at least I still and a Plan B — dig older dress out of closet and pretend that was your intention all along.

Dressed up for Dinner

5. But enough about the fails — let’s talk about the wins! Like the beauty of an empty seat…

Empty Airplane Seat

6. And of never really growing up…

Blend Goofs

7. Of beauty with a side of oatmeal…

Oats and Beauty

8. And of food with a side of blogger…

Food Bloggers

9. Blend was fun and Boulder was beautiful, but home isn’t so bad either…

Pretty Edmonton

10. Happy Thursday, friendly faces! πŸ˜€

That blogger dinner pic is my fave. I’ve contemplated doing that at a restaurant, but then decided against it. But I will stand if necessary πŸ˜‰ I was like you before, I wouldn’t bring my electronic toothbrush, until my mouth kept hurting and I realized I brush too hard when left to my own devices! xoxo, ganeeban

Boulder is beautiful — I lived in Colorado for a year back (way back) when I was 18. Another life ago! I feel the same way about my water flosser as you do about your electric toothbrush. I can’t just use regular floss now, it never feels the same! Glad you had fun and I can’t wait to read about the energy ball on ‘roids lol

I want to visit Boulder! My travel list right now is essentially just everywhere in the Cascades and the Rockies. And empty plane seats are the best and make flying a little less nerve-wrecking.

My fail of the day – not getting my ToL post done. =( I had most of my words all ready to go, but needed to get pictures in. But since I had insomnia on Tuesday, last night I was beyond exhausted. My night was dinner, Netflix, dairy-free ice cream, and pass out. I have a wedding on Saturday, and while I had intentions of getting out and finding a dress – I don’t think that’ll be happening. But you never know! My energy slump yesterday was unreal. I am surprise I made it through the day as well as I did.

Aww I feel ya, girl. I honestly have no idea how I managed to get my post up either… or do anything, for that matter. I was slumping so hard all day that it’s a miracle I didn’t pass out and hurt myself. At least today has been better πŸ™‚

I feel like going away can make you appreciate where you live so much more. I’ve really grown to love Baltimore and whenever I leave town, I end up missing it. It’s always funny getting together a group of bloggers. The phones come out and nobody is judging you for trying to get that perfect angle on a picture. love the one of you guys standing on the chairs πŸ™‚

I only had to use it once, but it’s not an experience I’d like to repeat. IT’s better than how it used to be, though — they used to come in little syringes that you actually had to inject yourself with!

I hate when you finally decide on a dress and it’s sold out. I am starting learn my lesson and buying things as I see them, not when I need them, so that hopefully, I have enough in my closet for those occasions that pop up – easier said than done!

I also usually find medicine I want to bring for the kids has expired a day before we leave, at least that only means a last minute drug store trip though! When I saw the picture yesterday of you guys dressed up, my first thought was that your dress was hot, no new one necessary! I get sick of my old clothes though so I would’ve been annoyed πŸ™‚
