. thinking out loud #86 .

July 10, 2014 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 67 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. Hello, hello from the balmy Nevada dessert! 😀

Nevada Dessert

2. You guys… it legit took me around 5 hours to pack for my trip…

Packing My Suitcase

… but before you go calling me high maintenance, I should probably mention that I only pack packed for about 30 minutes — the rest of that time was devoted to basically spring cleaning my closet entire home. Apparently I found a lot of stuff that I wanted to get rid of while I was looking for stuff I wanted to pack 😯

3. I also had to make sure that my home was fruit-fly-proof before I left so that I wouldn’t have to deal with clouds of flies when I got back like last time when I went to Utah. Spike and a little bowl of ACV + dish soap should keep my kitchen safe…

Fruit Fly Trap

4. AND… unlike last time, I actually remembered to bring the dinner that I packed for myself this time around rather than prepping it and leaving it on the middle shelf of my fridge. I’m actually eating it as I type up this part of my post [from the airport]. Function over form, friends… Function over form.

Airport Lunch

5. Aaaaaand judging by the shouts coming from the bar, apparently someone just scored in the soccer game between Argentina and Holland. Let me see if I can find out what’s going on… Okay. Argentina scored on a penalty shot. Go team! (<– I’m cheering for whoever wins 😉 )

6. Back to food… I need to send a huge thanks to Buzzfeed for featuring my Almond Butter Pretzel Truffles in their pretzel recipe roundup! Man I really need to make those things again…

Almond Butter and Pretzel Truffles

7. But I think I’ll be okay with food for now because… this:

Whole Foods

Whole Foods was conveniently located on the way from the airport to our hotel, and you’d better that my Canadian self hit that sucker up asap…

8. … mostly for a few jars of this, obviously 😉

Justin's AB

9. And I apologize if this post is a little on the shorter side, but you guys know I’m not so great at blogging while I travel, so I’m going to take the next couple of days off and enjoy my time in Vegas. See you soon! 😀

I packed a salad in a throw away container that was cyllinderical on my way to Portland last week… I realized it was so hard to eat so I dumped it in the ziplock bag I had to keep it in. And there’s my function over fashion food story for today!

Have a great trip, girl! I see nothing wrong with packing turn purge of all unnecessary stuff…I’ve been on some crazy cleaning sprees lately. I’ve done a bunch but also still feel like I have a lot to go. 5 hours won’t be enough…I’m only getting started! 😉

Grr…I despise packing. Mostly because I end up doing a mini closet clean out, too. Gosh I need to do a major closet overhaul! Also, pretzel+nut butter+chocolate = from the gods? Seriously, is there much better? Congrats for having your recipe used in the roundup! Safe travels!

It takes me forever to pack when we go anywhere, mostly because I try to bring all my clothes so I can have options depending on what I feel like wearing. And half of what I bring is running clothes/shoes. Yep, I’m that girl. Thankfully no one (read Joe) tries to argue since he brings just as many clothes as i do (even more really since his are real clothes and not workout ones). Good times traveling with us. Honeymoon will definitely be interesting 😉 Have a great time in Vegas girl!

While it may be a shorter post, there’s a lot of sweet in it. Congratulations on the Buzzfeed thing; that’s so awesome! And, have such a good time on your trip. I’ve never been to Vegas, so I can only imagine the fun that’s about to ensue 🙂

Have a blast in Vegas! I’ve always wanted to go there. I’m the worst at packing. It takes me 20 times as long as it should and usually I end up throwing things in my suitcase last minute. Can’t wait to hear about your trip 🙂

I’ve gotten to the point that it is also takes me about 10 minutes to pack. I just don’t care…and hope that I have everything. Personally I think it is a great method. I’m glad you are enjoying yourself and found what you needed!

Thank goodness, I thought I was the only one who got excited to spot a Whole Foods on vacation. When we traveled to Hawaii, I found one on the way to our hotel and had my husband stop so we could stop for supplies and of course some of the hot and cold bar. It made me ridiculously happy.

About how much do you spend a week at whole foods on yourself? Curious, because I’m starting to buy organic meats there and it’s pricey.

I always root for the underdog, which is probably why I like myself so much. 😉

I’m glad you found a Whole Foods for yourself and also took care of Spike before you left… me thinks you’re developing a green thumb. Eh, eh.

I remember the pretzel truffles because I made them and loved them. They were pretty genius.

Have a wonderful trip and enjoy your vacation.

Thanks for giving me a heads-up with #2 – it has to happen in my life in two weeks. Or today depending if I can decide to take that step – hello, procrastination. My apartment is in desperate need of a thorough clean-up session and for once I can’t postpone it any longer. Whew.
Enjoy your time in Vegas and try not to accumulate too much extra luggage weight on your flight back. Though who am I kidding?! I’d do just that.
