. i want to tell you that… .

January 24, 2014 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 70 Comments

Friday #happydance! πŸ˜€

It's Friday

So I had every intention of posting a recipe today, but when it came time to sit down and write up the actual post, the last thing I wanted to do was talk about smoothies. Not that they’re not fabulous, but I just wasn’t feeling it… and when you’re trying to sell a smoothie and the best adjectives you can come up with are “cold, creamy, and delicious” it might just be time to step away from the computer for a little while… so I went ahead and painted my toes instead… [with OPI’s Didgeridoo Your Nails?]…

Painted Toes

As much as I love sharing recipes, eats, and thinking out loud, sometimes I just want to sit down and chat with you guys… ya know? About everything and nothing in particular.

I want to tell you that… I spent most of the day so far packing for my trip to Disneyland…

Packing for Disney

… with basically no idea as to what I was supposed to be putting in my suitcase 😯

What To Pack?

I want to tell you that… I had to take a break from packing to bust out a happy dance when this gem showed up in my news feed this afternoon…

Udi's Winner

Remember my GF Snickerdoodle Truffles? I made them as part of Udi’s Fall Comfort Challenge, and they ended up taking first place in all of Canada. Colour me smitten πŸ˜€

I want to tell you that… Canadian Target is a bit of a disappointment compared to American Target, but that I still managed to find a few things worth buying [for my trip]… [but I already broke into the cocoa bunnies]… [oops]…

Target Snacks

Annie’s Cocoa & Vanilla Bunny Cookies — Archer Farms instant oats — Annie’s cheddar snack mix

I want to tell you that… even though it might not be the best idea, I’m probably going to end up getting in one more snowboarding trip tonight…

Burton Feelgood

… so please keep your fingers crossed that I don’t break my leg or head. It would be inconvenient.

I want to tell you that… I’d never leave without saying goodbye and that you’ll hardly even notice I’m gone. I’m leaving tomorrow (Saturday) morning and coming back on Thursday evening, but I managed to get some posts scheduled for the days I’ll be away, so make sure to drop by — especially on Sunday and Thursday so that you can add your own link to the Link Love party and do some Thinking Out Loud.

Link-Love

Thinking-Out-Loud

I want to tell you that… you should most definitely follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram if you want to keep up with some of my shenanigans while I’m gone. I’m not the best at writing blog posts on vacation (hence the scheduling), but I’ll be updating my social media accounts with pics from my trip.

I want to tell you that… I’ll miss you, I love you, and I’ll talk to you soon!

Signature

Help a girl out! What do I pack for California in January?
What foods do I need to pick up from Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s?
And… chocolate or cheese?
(bunnies on the brain)

Have so much fun on your trip, lucky lady. Bring me back a palm tree. Oh – and congrats on winning the Udi’s challenge. What do you win? Hopefully a car.

I tried a GF root beer cake pop last weekend and died. It was amazing

Congratulations on the udis recipe contest! I hope you have an amazing trip to California, hopefully while your there getti warm you can also stick up on more Annie’s! I love that color nail polish, I just painte my toes the other night. I know it’s strange but I think painting my toes is relaxing but trying to paint my fingers stresses me out. Probably because more paint ends up on my fingers than my nails!

Fingers are definitely a little less enjoyable — especially since you know they’re going to chip so fast! Well, that and you have to paint one hand with your non-dominant hand, so it gets a little awkward…

Have an amazing time in Cali. If you can get out to the coast for a nice walk around Santa Monica, do ittttt. Really great shopping on 3rd.
Not sure what LA weather is like…the fashion LA bloggers I follow don’t seem to be too bundled these days. Lots of jeans, tees, flats. I love California style! Don’t forget a hat! xo

I hope you enjoy Disneyland, Amanda. I’ve never been there before myself, so I’m just teeny bit jealous of you on that score lol I do know that it’s pretty mild weather so far as ‘cold’ goes though.

Congratulations for the recognition for your Snickerdoodle Truffles, you really deserve it.

We don’t have a Trader Joes or a Whole Foods where I live (lame) but I’ve been to them before in other cities I’ve visited. My advice? Buy cookie butter. I’ve seen it in Trader Joes and I’ve ALWAYS wanted to try it.

And go with the chocolate. Just my advice though.

I hope you enjoy your vacation, you seem to have a very blessed life <3

I would do jeans with layers on top! California is so hit or miss this time of year, so layering is key.

It’s warm in Nor Cal, so that means it’s even warmer in So Cal! Have fun at the Happiest Place on EARTH! Try the TJ’s Almonds w/ honey & sesame seeds – they are a great snack. I also like the dried apple (rings), but you can probably get them anywhere. The TJ’s holiday vanilla Cinnamon black tea is good, but it might be gone now. If you go to WF, try a Vegan Maple Doughnut, they are heavenly! Have a great trip and welcome to Cali πŸ™‚

Hmmm as for packingβ€” light cardigans/layers, T-shirts that you can dress up a little with some light scarves, and good ol’ jeans! I have no idea if that was helpful at all.
I’m a huge fan of Trader Joe’s sunflower seed butter if you’re interested in that! (I hope you don’t have an allergy to those seeds!)

Then, stock up on their Fair Trade bananas, which I know you love, and pick up a Sunspire chocolate baking bar- best chocolate you'll ever put in your mouth- hello!:)

I go every week to WF, and even on a budget, I come out with the best finds. I highly suggest stocking up on the produce as much as you can- it truly is the best!
