. favourite fall recipes .

September 27, 2013 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 60 Comments

Aaaaand cue the Friday happy dance! 😀

Although I have to admit that the fact that it’s Friday is somewhat bittersweet for me – it just means that it’ll be time to head back home soon, and I’m not quite sure that I’m ready to say goodbye to BC…

Coffee in the Bay

I am, however, ready to say goodbye to extended periods of sitting in the car, especially when they involve driving on a “highway” that’s so twisty and hilly that the max speed in a lot of stretches is about 40 kph (25 mph). And I wouldn’t mind having access to a kitchen again… As tasty as food on the road can be, there’s something to be said about a warm home-cooked meal, especially around this time of the year.

I was browsing through my recipes here on Spoons the other day, when I realized that a good chunk of them are centered around fall flavours. Apparently, I just get inspired to get back into the kitchen around this time of the year, so I thought I’d put together a small collection of my fall recipes in case you find yourself itching to spend some time in a warm, cozy kitchen as the weather starts to cool off, too.

It seems like you only just left and already you’re getting ready to come back. I’m glad you’re having a good trip though, windy mountains and everything. The pictures have been incredible.
I find all seasons inspire me to cook, although its just different things. Summer is all about fruits, salads and lighter fare, while Fall finds me whipping up soups and sandwiches. I’ve also got a hankering for Mac and cheese and of course I recently acquired a new, fancy and bound to be delicious cheese, so that’s going to happen soon.

This post is such a tease to me in my pumpkinless house! Your post has inspired me to start a shopping list so I have a reason to go to the store and spend the gas money on getting food besides JUST pumpkin! Your curried, apple pumpkin soup looks so creamy and fall like. Ah, and your pictures. They look warm and homey! I reiterate, you could be a photographer. You make me want to dive in and try everything and curl up by a warm fire!
