Hands up if chocolate for breakfast sounds like a fantastic idea!
I know this isn’t necessarily the case for everyone, but I personally have to start my day on a sweet note or I’ll be in the kitchen looking for dessert roughly 15 minutes after breakfast. And it doesn’t matter how much fibre, protein, or healthy fat I eat with my meal — my sweet tooth will bug me until it’s satisfied.
SO! I take a proactive approach and nip the cravings in the bud before they have a chance to pop up. And I swear I’m not making that up. I’ve totally come across a handful of articles stating that eating something sweet or chocolatey for breakfast can help prevent junk food binges later in the day since you’re satisfying your sweet tooth straightaway instead of spending the whole day thinking about it and letting the cravings build up to the point where you want to eat all the sweets in sight. That was a long sentence. Sorry.
Basically, chocolate for breakfast can totally be part of a healthy lifestyle… as long as you’re eating the right kind of chocolatey breakfasts. And as luck would have it, I just so happen to have a collection of healthy [and delicious] ways to enjoy chocolate for breakfast.
Hope you find something tasty!

I am not a huge chocolate for breakfast girl, but you know who is….my Hubby. He’s a chocolate for every meal kind of a guy. 🙂
A chocolate donut with my morning beverage sounds like the perfect start to a morning.

Awww thanks so much for including my scones!! Chocolate is my favorite food group so… This post is basically my idea of a dream come true! 😉
Brilliant, you are absolutely brilliant. Satisfying the sweet tooth ASAP! With…real sugar. Like sweet potatoes. AHH.
So much chocolatey goodness! I’m more of a savory breakfast kind of girl myself, but some of these do look pretty amazing!
So I’m sweet-ish. I usually can’t do chocolate but oatmeal with syrup and peanut butter is my jam. Although when I look at your deep dish chocolate cookie, I may have to cross over.
Yumm definitely cooking one of these up for breaky! thanks for sharing 🙂
Yum! So many good things! I think I go back and forth in spurts between and sweet and savory breakfasts. I’m with you on the sweets though, if I dont have something sweet Ill be wanting dessert right after!
Yum! I’ve made your double chocolate Greek yogurt muffins so many times–but how did I miss that you had dark chocolate pancakes. Also, those chocolate chip pancakes from minimalist baker look divine. We got a ton of snow here in Colorado, and something about snowy days always makes me want pancakes. 🙂
Some of your recipes are my morning staples, Amanda! But thank you for providing me with a few new recipes to pin. 🙂
I don’t really go for something too sweet for breakfast but its 7am now and this post has lured me into the dark side (chocolate, that is)
