. thinking out loud #141 .

July 30, 2015 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 95 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. Oh, hi there!

Smiling Selfie

I thought I’d start this post off with a smiling selfie to make up for the RBF I slapped you guys with last week. Remember how I said I’m more comfortable with not smiling for pictures? I’ve noticed that it mostly applies to selfies, and I think it has to do with the fact that whipping out a smile when I’m just randomly taking a picture of myself just feels a little forced and fake. Right? No? Just me?

2. But seeing this while I was out driving definitely brought a smile to my face…

Super Scooter

I’m not 100% sure what it was, but I’m thinking some kind of scooter with a shell built around it to protect from the elements. Either that or a mini Smart car . That flag just kills me, though 😆

3. Speaking of killing me, guess who pulled the classic move of burning herself with a curling iron…

Curling Wand Burn

Mmm hmm. This girl. I was using a NUME curling wand to get the job done, and I was holding it in such a way that I somehow managed to burn the back of my shoulder with the top of the wand (don’t ask). I did’t think anything of it until I caught a glimpse of it in the mirror later that day and noticed how vicious it looked (I’ll spare you the close up). Let’s just say that wearing certain shirts is difficult. As is trying to sleep on my back or right side.

4. On the topic of sleep… have I told you guys that I’ve been having the best sleeps lately? Yeah. Lay down, fall asleep almost instantly, and sleep like a log until the next morning… It’s a welcome change from the tossing, turning, and multiple wake-up calls throughout the night that I was used to. I don’t want to play the guessing game, but I did notice it start to change right around the time that I started to go to bed a lot later. I used to be in bed by 9:30 or 10, but lately it’s been anywhere from 11:30 to 2am. I don’t hate it!

Sleepy Kaiah

(oh hi, sleepy Ky!)

5. As for why I’ve been staying up so late… secret 😉

6. Have you noticed it’s been a little bit darker in the mornings, though? I’e still been waking up pretty early (don’t ask me how), and I’ve noticed that it’s taking the sun a little while longer to get up. Winter Fall is coming, friends… #happydance.

Darker Mornings

7. Have you heard that Erin Condren just released something along the lines of an adult colouring book?

Erin Condren Coloring Book

[source]

It’s kind of a colouring book slash notebook hybrid, where you can colour the patterns on the pages and still have room left to jot down notes… Me likey! And if you’re interested in getting one (or the new Life Planner that just launched last month), you can use sign up using my referral link to save $10 off your first order. That’ll also credit me $10 to my account, so it’s wins all around.

8. So I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve made these soft and chewy protein granola bars, but let’s just say that I basically have some on hand at.all.times so it’s probably been way over 40. Quite easily my favourite thing to snack on.

Protein Granola Bars

9. Well, that and chocolate. The addiction is real, my friends. Especially lately. Oi.

Mmmm Chocolate

10. And that’s it for me today, loves! Have yourselves an awesome Thursday, and I’ll talk to you soon 😀

Oh man, you are chocolate obsessed lately. You would have loved the Hubby’s dessert on Friday then. It was like a chocolate crème brulee. I had a bite; it was good. I also devoured my key lime tart. Also very good.

That burn…ouch. You should put some aloe vera on that.

I’m thrilled to hear about the better sleep. I suspect happy life happenings coupled with less stress have something to do with it. 🙂

I’ve been thinking about chopping off one of Spike’s arms to get at some of the sweet aloe juice inside. You think he’ll mind? 😛

Hopefully we can learn about the secret soon! =) My sleep has been really good as well, and I am certain it is from 1) eating a good meal/snack 2) magnesium and 3) reading! I’m so glad to have sorted through insomnia and crappy sleep.

That picture of Kyah gives me warm fuzzy feelings! I’m glad to hear you’re sleeping well. I swear, nothing feels better than a good night’s sleep!

And yes, I feel the same way about selfies. I mean, I feel like they’re just awkward no matter what but they’re even more so with a full on smile.

I’m like you… ALL the chocolate lately. Also I’m kind of excited for fall too? Even though it doesn’t turn into fall here ever? It’s always just Spring-Summer-ish… maybe because I know I don’t have a winter to deal with!

First, I wanted to thank you for your instructions on how to get a blog up on bluehost (used your link *grin*). I just got my site up today so it’s a total mess, but I’m really excited to get started. I’ve blogged a lot before, but I wanted a fresh start. My first post on my new blog was a Thinking Out Loud!
Second, your dog is SO CUTE!
    Have a great day xoxo

That little car scooter thing is adorable. It looks like a large version of the little kid one that is red and yellow and you push around with your feet. I’ve been addicted to chocolate lately, too. I’m not sure it’s actually a problem.

Ooh that curling iron burn! Hope it gets better soon. I used to burn my ear or my forehead all the time. I haven’t gotten better with the machine, I just don’t use it often anymore.

    I KNOW THE SECRET! :-p
I have noticed it getting darker later in the morning – aka when I’m at work doing rounds at 4:45 it’s still pitch black, as opposed to getting some light like it was a few weeks ago. I can’t decide how I feel about it. I’m excited for a lot of things happening in the fall, but still….so many changes :-S

In the UK we have so many of those adult colouring books for sale and there was even just a news report on how popular they were. I’ve tried them and they are a really great stress relief.

Pretty much a big nod to everything you just said. Adult coloring book? We should have some sort of launch party where we play relaxing music and everyone just colors. While we eat chocolate <3.

I love fall. Everyone around here gets so angry when I say that because that means winter is that much closer, but it is by far the best season…in my opinion. I feel the same way about selfies…maybe that’s why I don’t take them often, I feel so damn awkward.
