15 healthy homemade snack bars that are WAY better than store-bought

May 7, 2016 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 22 Comments

Hands up if you love snack bars! Everyone? Good stuff 😀

Now hands up if you love paying an arm and a leg for aforementioned snack bars! No one? Even better! Because I’ve got a collection of healthy homemade snack bars lined up for you guys today that’ll not only save you a tonne of money in the long run, but also help you avoid some of the more questionable ingredients found in a lot of the store-bought bars out there. Mmm hmm. We see you, shadies 🤔

I’m lucky in a roundabout kind of way, because having a peanut allergy basically forces me to make my own bars since I can’t eat 99% of the ones out there. But you don’t need to suffer from food allergies to have an excuse to make your own snack bars at home! You just need to want irresistibly delicious and healthy recipes that put store-bought bars to shame.

Like these ones here…

PB Bars

Luscious white chocolate and sweetly tart raspberries make for a KILLER flavour combo in these protein bars!

I always have a batch of these protein granola bars on hand. They’re the one recipe I’ve remade the MOST over the past 2 years.

No time for breakfast? No problem! These hearty oatmeal bars are perfectly portable and filling!

Only THREE INGREDIENTS stand between you and these ooey, gooey no-bake cereal bars.

What makes these tasty protein bars so darn soft and chewy? Two words: ALMOND.FUDGE.

Breakfast Bars

The texture of these protein bars SLAYS me! I’ll take my protein with a side of cookies ‘n’ cream, thanks.

Food allergies got you down? These chocolate no-bake bars are free of the most common allergens so EVERYONE can enjoy.

Cookie dough in protein bar form! It’d be a struggle to resist eating this by the spoonful!

With tonnes of strawberries and no need for an oven, these no-bake bars are PERFECT for summer!

This childhood favourite gets a healthy makeover by swapping out the marshmallows and butter!

No Bake Almond Fudge Protein Bars

Peanut butter lovers rejoice! These luscious bars have TRIPLE the PB action.

The flavour possibilities in these fruity crumble bars are ENDLESS! Just swap out the strawberries for your favourite fruit and see where it takes you!

Five whole food ingredients. One batch of AMAZINGLY sweet and crunchy no-bake bars.

Think the mint in these chewy chocolate protein bars will freshen your breath? Only one way to find out!

Why force yourself to choose between sweet & salty when you can have BOTH in these no-bake bars.

Don't pay an arm and a leg for mediocre store-bought bars! Make AMAZING ones at home with this collection of healthy recipes! | runningwithspoons.com

The high nutrition value of snack bars is making them famous among the young population which is driving the growth of the snack bar market during the forecast period.

The only problem I have with this post is I don’t know which recipe to start with! They all look SO GOOD! 😉

I am a huge salted caramel fan! I also love butterscotch chips. Not the most common add-in, but worth it. Amanda, if I have blogging questions, should I email you? Or would you prefer not to answer questions?

Butterscotch chips are amazing! I used to eat them by the handful as a kid 😀 And definitely shoot me an email, Ellie! I’d be happy to help!

I guess no more Sweet & Savory Saturdays?
I’ve actually really been celebrating the fact that, since incorporating a lot of new foods back into my diet, like soy and dried fruits, I can buy bars. Luna Bars FTW! I’ve missed those guys.
That being said, your protein granola bars are my absolute favorite–I make them all the time too. : )

We’ve still got S&S on the back burner, but we don’t want to commit to doing it weekly again just yet since we’ve both kind of got our hands full with the books. That being said, we’re always trying to come up with new ideas, so never know!

YES please!! Gosh I adore making snack bars at home, but for some reason I rarely do it! I make my Power Balls weekly [which is basically a raw snack bar rolled into a ball lol] and they are the perfect pre-workout snack or afternoon snack to get me through. But I’m definietly needing some variety! I think those trail mix bars are calling to me…..

Confession: If I’m feeling super lazy, I won’t even roll mine into balls. I’ll just eat them straight from the bowl with a spoon 😆

I love those Trail Mix Bars you have; that and the Blueberry Crumble Bars. So much goodness. Now if only I could find the time to make a batch. One day.

One day for sure! You can get the Mini Me in the kitchen early – some of my best memories were baking with my mom as a tiny thing 🙂

Such a coincidence – I have all the ingredients to make your almond fudge protein bars for my mom today! Plus your rice crispy treats for my kids since I’ll also have those ingredients and they’ve been asking 🙂

Yes I plan on baking – thinking Iam starting with a breakfast cake I saw on @ThroughHerLooking Glass’s blog then…something with beets 🙂

I like snack bars but I’ve never been able to cook/prepare them well. There are so many bar recipes here, I might have to at least try a couple.
