thinking out loud #249

August 24, 2017 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 19 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. I’m kind of obsessed with putting banana n’ice cream on top of my oats at breakfast time… There’s just something about the contrast between the warm oats and the cold n’ice cream that makes me weak in the knees. And when I say ‘warm’ oats, I mostly mean slightly above room temperature since I don’t want my breakfast drowning in a pool of melted banana, and I’m not overly big on warm food anyways (I know). But yeah! If you’ve never given it a try, I definitely recommend it. It might be an extra step in the morning since you actually have to make the n’ice cream, but it’s only a couple extra minutes for something super amazing. And if you wanted to get extra fancy, you could give this banana ice cream breakfast parfait a try.

2. Actually, I should probably go peel and freeze some bananas… BRB.

3. And speaking of ice cream, can we please talk about how amazing it is to be greeted by a salted caramel cluster as soon as you open a new tub of cashew ice cream? And yes I eat straight from the tub because: a) I have a deep-rooted dislike of serving suggestions, and b) I have another tub for other people 😛

4. On an equally as happy but slightly less delicious note, my August Ipsy bag came! Nothing can beat last month’s egg butt glam bag, but there’s some good stuff (mascara, concealer, eyeshadow, mud mask, & nail polish) nonetheless. The nail polish actually looks perfect for fall and should be named something like sweater weather. Instead, it’s called… uhh… No. 28. Not so creative, but really pretty on.

5. Speaking of fall, I’m low-key excited to start busting out my teas again. And by ‘teas’ I mostly mean this one right here. 10/10 would recommend…

Cinnamon Apple Spice Tea

6. Crap… I really need to put this ice cream away. BRB.

7. I saw a hummingbird! A real one! Out in my [parents’] garden! Ok, so I knew we got hummingbirds in Alberta at certain times of the year, but never in my 30+ years have I seen one. Until this past weekend. And I might have squealed a little bit. But lookit how cute it is! LOOKIT!!! So tiny.

8. Ok friendly faces, hope you have a happy Thursday 🙂 I know I took a couple days of from the recipes, but I’ll be back this weekend with more food!

It’s amazing you managed to snag a picture of the hummingbird. I am super impressed.

Also I think sweater weather would make a great nail polish name.

Can we talk about how amazing your picture of the hummingbird is? And how cute that little bird is, obviously.
Cinnamon Apple Spice used to be one of my favourite teas – when I was still living in a large city and able to get it. Now I’m all about Chocolate Chili tea from the Yogi tea range. Truth be told, though, I drink it all year round.

Such an awesome pic of the hummingbird! I feel like every time I see one, they are gone before I can even blink!

The parfait looks delish! Would never thought about eating something with ice cream for breakfast 😉
And the hummingbird picture is wonderful. We got to observe 8(!) hummingbirds coming to a feeder at the same time. It was while being on vacation in Colorado. And a few years back we even had a nest with baby hummingbirds. So fun to watch them. Thanks for this linkup, Amanda. Have a wonderful rest of your Thursday!

I love the hummingbird pic. I grew up in Jamaica so I got used to seeing them often but sadly, I have never seen a hummingbird in NYC 🙂

That’s such a pretty hummingbird! I almost never see those around here. Also, that salted caramel ice cream looks very tasty!

I’m not a big fan of birds. Actually I”m quite afraid of them but I did some little goldfinches yesterday on my walk and they were so tiny and cute!

What a gorgeous shot of the hummingbird!! The banana nice cream oats sound delicious, but I actually don’t like when something that’s supposed to be warm gets, like, lukewarm. I can deal with affogato coffee because it all becomes cold, but something about the oats confuses me. Although….OOH OVERNIGHT OATS + NICE CREAM! Yup, I’m on that. 😉

I too think of ice cream serving sizes as more of you might call “guidelines.” 🙂

I love the idea of the banana nice cream on top of oatmeal!! I bet it adds an amazingness 🙂 I LOVE banana ice cream– with PB of course. What is life without it, seriously? Also LOVE that tea. SO good and fall-ish!!

I’ve started busting out my teas again even in the summer weather… if you build (drink) it, they (fall weather) will come, right? My grandparents used to have a hummingbird feeder and I loved watching the little guys flutter there. We’d all get suuuper quiet and just watch. So fun!

Can’t get over that beautiful caramel cluster right when you opened the ice cream. Those chunks always get me every time. And that tea reminds me of all the beauty of fall. It’s crazy that fall is coming in about a month!!!! 🙂 Excited!

    That parfait, though!
Bananas are the best fruit – they’re so versatile and I seats have frozen ones on hand for smoothies.

I seriously need to start buying bananas in bulk because of making nice cream, breads, muffins, I can’t keep up and always need more ripe bananas lol.

I haven’t made banana nice cream in a while. I should get on that. What a beautiful photo of that hummingbird. We had out 2 hummerbird feeders this year, one in front and one in the back of the house and there were quite a few around.
