currently – march 2017 (ToL #225)

March 9, 2017 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 28 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

Hello, hello, friendly faces! I hope you guys don’t mind me throwing another Currently + ToL combo at you, but my brain is literally farting as far as random thoughts go, so I figured a little structure would help things along 😊

Currently

Current book: I finally finished the book that I’ve been reading for the past two.months! This means it’s on to book 3, which is the fabulous The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson. Hopefully this one won’t be another 2 month’er. It’s a good series, I just don’t last long enough to read more than a few pages before I pass out for the night.

Current music: New month, new music! Here’s my latest additions to Spotify…

March Spotify

Current [non]-guilty pleasure: I feel a little sad that I literally can’t think of anything right now. I need a vice. So let’s just go with my go-to answer of video games.

Current drink: I feel like I really only ever drink 3 things – water, coffee, and hot cinnamon tea… And right now? 90% of that is water.

Current food: I mean, unless smoothies count as drinks, because I’ve been having this avocado blueberry smoothie pretty darn often too. I eat it with a spoon, though, so I’m totally counting it as food 😜 If you want to get technical, though, then I’m currently crushing on avocados and blueberries.

Bloob Avocado Smoothie

Current obsession: Trying to figure out how to get my dog to eat more. Ky is doing better than she was a couple of months ago, but she’s still a little strange when it comes to what and how she eats. Dry dog food is completely out of the question, and while I have no issues with mixing up rice & ground meat or more human-y foods, she has this weird habit of not eating out of her bowl – like, we literally have to put her food on the floor in little scoops to get her to eat it. We’re tried metal bowls, porcelain bowls, shallow bowls, deep bowls… she won’t do it. But the same food from the floor? Eats it right up. I mean, at the end of the day, I’m just happy to see her eat, but I still wish I knew what her reasoning was…

Current craving: Soooo… you don’t even know what I’d do for a stack of these chocolate brownie cookies right now. Demeter is a vegan baking goddess.

Vegan Brownie Cookies

Current need: Honestly? To get out of the house a little more. Between working from home and not wanting to go out as much because of the lovely little cold spell we got hit with, I’m going a little stir crazy. Just a little.

Current beauty product: Going back to basics with coconut oil! And by “going back to basics” I mean using it in addition to the plethora of other beauty products I already use 😜 But I love it as a hair mask and moisturizer, especially in this crazy dry winter air. I don’t really use it on my face, but it’s pretty amazing under the eyes.

Oil Pulling2

Current procrastination: I actually really need to shovel some snow. Yeah. In March.

Current confession: I’ve been more or less ignoring social media for a good long while now and I’m probably enjoying the detox a little more than I should. I mean, I know it’s a huge part of being a blogger, but it just feels a little overwhelming at times. I think I just need to figure out a way to make it work for me.

Current excitement: So I’m kind of dying over the fact that Beauty and the Beast comes out next Friday. It’s been my favourite Disney movie since… uhm… it came out(?), so I’m super excited to see how they adapted it to live action. Hopefully they won’t kill it.

Current mood: A little funky, to be honest. I think the SADs are getting to me, because I just feel a little more mopey and uninspired than I’d like to feel. But at least spring is coming. Heck, even the fact that the days are getting longer is a huge mood booster.

You need to do what you want if it does not bother you and those around you. We live once, and we need to realize our desires. For example, I am engaged in the development of computer games and also do not mind periodically playing various games. It would help if you learned to keep balance in everything so as not to go crazy.

Just finished Start With Why by Simon Sinek… Also very excited for Beauty and the Beast! We seriously never go to the movies, but I may have to drag hubby to see it.

I’m right there with you, ready for winter to be over with, so the babe and I can get out more. The house is becoming a prisoner, albeit a warm snuggly prison, but still.

I want to see Beauty and the Beast too. Wanna go with me?

I’m pretty pumped for Beauty and the Beast too! I don’t know if I can pick a top favourite Disney movie, but B&tB is definitely one of them.

Ugh I swear I’ve been mopey all winter, so I can totally relate. I feel like in the winter I don’t do anything on weekdays outside of work, housekeeping, cooking meals, and wasting time on social media lol. It just creates this vicious cycle of mopiness! I’m itching for spring to get here.

I was just thinking about how I needed to buy some new coconut oil. It’s such a miracle worker! I love that the days are getting longer because I’d been feeling a little stir crazy and over the winter months too.

Love that you included your current music! Have you ever heard Skrux’s remix of Klaypex’s Lights? One of my favorites. Thank you so much for your sweet words. Now come on over so I can bake ya a BIG freaking batch of brownies cookies! 🙂 Excuse me while I head off to listen to Let Me Drive on repeat. 😉

I know!!! Much of the time lately, my mood has been exactly the same. I’m with you; I blame the weather and grey Washington skies.

I’ve been SOO excited for Beauty and the Beast, especially because all the trailers (and yes, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen every one) made it seem like they stuck pretty close to the original. But I’ve lately heard a few rumors flying around that sounds like they messed a bit with the story and I’ve been experiencing anticipatory disappointment ever since. 😔 But who knows, maybe it’s just rumor. It looks beautiful anyway, and Emma Watson makes for an excellent Belle. 😉

The combo of being stuck in the house, cold and snow, and worrying about Ky would give me the SADs too. Shoveling snow usually actually helps me with that–especially if the sun is out.
Current food: I’m really crushing on scrambled eggs right now.

Aw sorry your dog won’t eat! Our cats are super weird about water bowls so we got a little kitty fountain. I wonder if putting food on a plate would help at all?

Can’t wait for spring to come! We got spoiled with a week of 60 degree weather and now it might snow this weekend. :/

My friend’s cat got to where he wouldn’t drink water out of his bowl, so now my friend has to put water in an actual coffee mug for his cat to drink it. So odd! I’m also super excited for Beauty and the Best to come out! Can’t wait!

When our dog was younger I used to have to mix rice and ground turkey in her food in order for her to eat. I gradually started adding less and less and magically she started just eating and LOVING dry kibble. I really hope this eventually happens with your pup as I know how frustrating it is when your dog isn’t eating.

It’s a “Dog” thing for them to eat off the floor. When I got my dog 5 years ago she would take her food out of the bowl and put it on the floor and eat it lol. Called the vet its normal. So don’t worry about it at least she’s eating. I just wipe up the floor after hehe.

Oh girl yes on the coconut oil! I use that to take off my eye makeup and then argon oil to moisturize! It is SO much better and cheaper than removers.

Current food: pasta salad (don’t want to increase your funk, but it’s been in the 70s so I’m feeling spring food) and current book: Fangirl. I love Rainbow Rowell. She’s quippy.

I hear you about the social media detox. I can’t tell if it’s SAD, burnout, or what but I’m having one of those weeks/months where it’s so hard to drum up the energy to give a f***

I feel that way about working from home some weeks too. It seems to come in waves… some weeks I end up with so many commitments that I can’t get anything I need to done and others I just want to see someone other than the dogs and my husband! LOL
I’m SO stoked about Beauty and the Beast too.

Thank God no snow to shovel here . . . yet. Might have some snow showers next week. Definitely have some cabin fever — running helps a little with that! Brownie cookies? Yes, please! Can I just eat them off the screen?

Bandit is the first dog (of all 3, LOL) that we ever had trouble getting to eat. In the beginning, I literally had to put food on my fingers & have him lick it off. Thankfully he’s gotten much better & has become quite the little beggar, but nowhere in Lola’s league.

I’ve kind of fallen off of IG, not because I’m tired of it, just because I’m really time crunched at the moment.
