. link love 5/25 .

May 25, 2014 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 37 Comments

Happy Sunday friendly faces πŸ˜€

How’s the weekend been treatin’ ya? Or the long weekend if you’re lucky enough to be celebrating Memorial Day tomorrow… We had an extra day off last week up here in Canadaland, but most people I know used it to do some work in their gardens, since the first long weekend of May is kind of the unofficial start of planting season, apparently… This is why I opted to live in a condo with only one plant  in my home — I’m useless at yard work. But I digress.

Sundays are for rest, relaxation, and link love! Lots of great reads this week, so go ahead and grab a snack, a cup of coffee, and enjoy!

Do you like gardening? No, but I like the smell/feel of dirt.
Three things you did yesterday; three things you’re going to do today. Go:
Yesterday: ran errands, went on a gorgeous trail ride in the river valley, and saw the new X-men movie.

I was supposed to be gardening today. Instead, I’m sitting on a blanket in the backyard catching up on blog reading. It’s rather reaxing, which means I read far too many of these links. A girl’s gotta have some vices, right?!

While I might not get the flower beds cleaned out, I do intend to put in my asparagus and strawberry plants at some point today… er, I mean I hope so. Time (and energy and motivation) will tell.

I stink at gardening! I’ve tried planning vegetable plants the past few years and I honestly just kill everything haha.

3 things I did Saturday: picnic with JZ, hiking, and sushi dinner and drinks for my birthday
3 things I did Sunday: made waffles for breakfast, made Moroccan yam and chickpea patties from Oh She Glows, went out for dinner for my (real) birthday

Haha I SUCK at gardening, thankfully I’m back living with my dad for now so I don’t have to do much πŸ˜‰
Yesterday I spent all day baking for someone’s 5th birthday party, and I’ve never been this proud of a cake, it turned out pretty epic lol! Today I had an awesome day with my cousins bowling (even though I’m not a big fan of bowling) and having a BBQ.
How was the X-men movie?? It’s pretty high on my list of movies I need to see soon πŸ™‚

I don’t do gardens. Or dirt. Or anything involving either. My son won a plant at the school plant sale raffle and it’s dead already….I don’t remember yesterday but I did just get home from my 10 mile race at the beach – I think I might have even enjoyed the run simply because it is gorgeous out and feeling like summer!

Yardwork … After my parents occasionally forced me to help while still living at home I’ve actually come to embrace it at times. Not that I had a garden now – thank goodness for all the plants I’d kill … – but when I’m at my parents’ and get to willingly help out now I find it oddly relaxing. Planting little bushes and digging in the dirt with my hands is a good way to let go of overthinking for the moment. Hm … maybe I need to look for an apartment with a garden after all?!
No Memorial Day for us tomorrow but Thursday is Ascension Day and therefor off after all so it evens out.
Happy Sunday and expect an e-mail [re: that one ToL post a while ago] soon. Or as soon as is typical for me…

I really like gardening, but now that I live in a condo it’s going to be confined to a pot or two. Yesterday I ran, ate a lot and watched Girls season 2 in bed. Miss Partypants over here, that’s for sure.

Today, I’m gonna go for a long walk along the Bow River to loosen my legs up! πŸ™‚ Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Yesterday: Visited the Geffrye museum, drank an un-seasonal hot chocolate, caught up on GoT
Today: Spent silly £££ at the farmers’ market, drew a dog, sat in the park (trying not to burn..)

I do not have a green thumb whatsoever… I once bought my ex-boyfriend a cilantro plant because it was hard to find where he was living… I was so excited to take it out of the package I accidentally ripped it out of the pot and killed it. Cilantro-cide.

Yesterday: Long run, Shopping, went out with Ang!
Today: Made granola, yoga, making bulletproof coffee with a friend!

I have a house but my HOA does all the yard work for me. It’s awesome! I don’t have a green thumb at all. It’s good I live in the desert. I can plant a cactus and not water it for weeks without it dying. I’ve been relaxing this weekend. Worked out and shopped yesterday. Today getting a massage.
