. thinking out loud #97 .

September 25, 2014 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 103 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. Too soon! We’re losing fall way too soon! If you recall, this is what our trees looked like just last week…

Yellow Leaves

And this is what they look like this week…

Naked Trees

So if you’re wondering why I get so overly excited about fall it’s because I have to take advantage of it while I can and concentrate all of my love for it into a few short weeks!

2. Speaking of fall, I hope you’re not getting tired of the recipes because I’ve got another one to share with ya! I recently posted some Crunchy Pumpkin Spice Roasted Chickpeas over on Savory Style, so go check em out if you’re looking for a deeee-licious healthy snack option for these cozier fall days!

Pumpkin Spice Chickpeas

3. Can we talk about something bizarre for a second? Like the irrational fear I have of this thing right here?

Moisture Absorber

What is “this thing right here?” That, my friends, would be the moisture absorber for a bottle of vitamins… and I’m afraid of it because I can’t help but think that one day it’ll come out when I shake the bottle (as it often does), and I won’t notice and end up swallowing it instead of my vitamins… which, of course, only leads to visions of me needing to get my stomach pumped or something equally as unpleasant 😯

4. And while we’re on the topic of irrational fears… let’s talk about hiccups. I rarely ever get them, and I’m super thankful for that fact because every time they do come around, I can’t help but wonder if I’ll become one of those poor unfortunate souls (Little Mermaid, anyone?!) that develop never-ending hiccups. I’m sorry, but how terrible would that be 😯

Stop Hiccups

[source]

5. Shifting gears to more pleasant topics… how freaking cute are my new socks?!?

Colourful Socks

I wear plain black socks about 99.9% of the time, but I was after something a little more fun and basically fell in love with those as soon as I saw them. Love at first sight — it’s a very real thing, my friends.

6. So are these teeny, tiny apples!

Teeny Tiny Apples

From what I remember, however, they are not as delicious as they are cute… So keep in mind — looks can often be deceiving 😉

7. Except for when it comes to things like this…

Chocolatey Sauce

… because that really is as good as it looks. Now hopefully I can keep myself from eating it all so that I can actually share the recipe that involves that wonderfully chocolatey creation with you soon!

8. Exciting news! Well, exciting to me anyways, since it probably won’t make a lick of difference to you. But I’ve finally been seeing some new kombucha flavours here in my neck of the woods!

New Kombucha Flavours

Normally I could only have the guava and mango ones when I was down in the States, but it looks like they’ve become a permanent thing, so… #happydance. Now if only they didn’t cost $4.50 a bottle…

9. And while we’re on the topic of news, care to see how I stay up-to-date on current events? Voila!

Neighbours Paper

That right there would be my neighbour’s newspaper 😆 Most of the time she doesn’t end up taking it in until waaaaay later in the day (we’re talking 4 – 5 PM), so I catch glimpses of the headlines whenever I go in/out of my home. Heck, I could probably take the whole paper, read it, and put it back without her noticing. And in case you’re wondering — no, I haven’t done it… yet 😛

10. And that’s it for me this week! I hope you guys are having an awesome Thursday, and I’ll see you tomorrow with either a recipe or… something else 😆 … depending on how motivated I’m feeling. Oh, and one last thing! How crazy is it that this is the last Thursday of September?! By this time next week, it’ll be a whole new month… Okay, bye! 😀

your colourful socks make me want to buy new socks…except I really, really shouldn’t because I have so many pairs of socks it’s ridiculous. Last year for Christmas, my ex’s mother literally bought me like 40 pairs of socks. I have told everyone in my family that they are no longer allowed to buy them for me.
My health food store started stocking the mystic mango flavour!! Which makes me happy because that is definitely my favourite. The guava one is awesome…but I have to give it to mango as being the best.
Also, I don’t know what that chocolate thing is but I want it. Of course.

OMG WHAT!? Your fall is so sad, WHY does it come and go so quickly. NOT OK. Those apples, SO CUTE. I actually used to get only one hiccup, it was very bizarre and it was a BIG one that was quite obnoxious. Now I think I’m “normal” and get multiple in a row.

I’ve actually only roasted chickpeas one time. I loved them, so I have no idea why I haven’t done it more than once. They’re definitely a perfect crunchy snack! I totally need to make them again. There’s no excuse because it was super simple!

It’s always like that tho, eh? Sometimes the simplest things are the most difficult to get around to making yourself. Like how I can’t seem to bring myself to make hummus 😆

It’s so funny how people are about socks – like, I never where anything but white socks. But you stick to black. But then sometimes I want to be one of those people that does own like a thousand pairs of fun colored socks. You know??

Also, I always wondered why that weird thing was in my pill bottle. Lol!

Amanda I laughed so much as your hiccup thought. I have annoying never ending hiccups and Dave actually makes fun of me for how annoying they are. Hope you have been able to enjoy your short fall. I have a feeling it will be like that around here too. 🙁 cant wait to see your chocolate recipe!

This is going to make me sound like a moron, but when I was little I actually did eat one of those “do not eat” things in a package of beef jerky…I mean it’s questionable as to what kind of affect it had on me…somedays I wonder. Haha! But really, they should make those suckers larger. Or neon pink…or something, you know?

    Have a wonderful day.

You are sooo cute! I totally agree with number one – the cold is coming too quick! I want to walk on leaves and hear the crunch! That’s my favorite fall activity! I LOVE playing with the leaves lol

And I want that yummy-licious recipe too! LOL

Oh yeah, and hiccups…..somehow, I often just hiccup once or maybe twice….cross between a burp and hiccups I guess…..a biccup!

Our dogs used to retrieve the newspaper for us, and often would grab the neighbor’s as well, particularly if ours hadn’t come yet (Peach, who was in charge, would get very frustrated at the prospect of failure). It’s hard to pretend that your dog hasn’t stolen the newspaper when their are giant bite marks involved…

I finally canceled my newspaper because I felt like I was spending money on something that I can read for free online. It wasn’t an easy decision because I grew up reading the paper and honestly still miss it lol. Online news reading isn’t the same even though by the time I get the paper, it’s old news.

I’m honestly really glad this month flew by. I cannot wait for T to get back and this was the “hard month” if you will. It’s also hard to believe how fast the leaves are changing. It seems like in the blink of an eye September is gone and late night daylight is gone with it. I like the chill in the air though.

Last Thursday of the month?? Already?? Wow September sure flew by in a blink of a eye! Before we know it, we’ll be toasting to the start of 2015- yikes! OMG I just clicked over to the hiccupping link and my heart reaches out for that poor girl…even just a few minutes of hiccupping makes me miserable! Although they say it’s a sign that someone is remembering you so that’s always a nice thought! I’m obsessed with your socks- so snazzy! I tend to only buy printed socks, which is why 99% of mine are covered in roses, cherries, and polka dots haha! And if there’s one thing I’ve learned about fruit is that the uglier they are, the yummier they seem to be..which explains the lack of taste in that cutesy apple!
