. thinking out loud #77 .

May 8, 2014 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 118 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. I’ve had a few people mention that they were missing the days where I used to include random facts in my ToL posts, so they’ll be making a comeback!

RF Mac And Cheese

RF Moose Hunting

RF Kool Aid

RF Honey

RF Bad Breath

1. Wellllll, he helped make it popular on this side of the ocean, anyways… which is good enough for me!
2. It’s also considered an offense to push a live moose out of a moving airplane… Just saying.
3. Here are a few recipes if you’re interested!
4. … which is exactly why I used to drink straight from the honey bear when I was little.
5. Admit it — you just did it. Confesion — I did 😉 And I’m in the clear! Thank you, oil pulling…

2. And here’s a little random fact about yours truly — I always keep my phone on silent because otherwise I find the texts, tweets, e-mails, and other notifications to be way too distracting. I totally lose my train of thought if I’m writing or working on something and I get a ping, so I just leave my phone off and check it at random intervals. I actually don’t even know what my ring tune sounds like 😯

Panda Phone Case

3. I do know what I’ll be doing with these overly spotty bananas, though!

Spotty Bananas

Can we say flourless banana bread muffins?!? Oh.heck.YES.

Flourless Banana Bread Muffins

4. The other day I almost bled to death from a nick on my finger that had a diameter of about 2 mm (that’s 0.08 inches for all my American peeps). Not even kidding. I didn’t think much of it until I looked down and saw the entire tip of my finger covered in blood. The dratted thing ended up soaking through a whole sheet of Kleenex and 2 Bandaids. Seriously… you’d think I sliced off a chunk of my finger or something. I’ll save you the gory visuals, but this is the cut that was responsible (hint: it’s on my index finger). I know — I couldn’t believe it either…

Finger Nick

5. Lookit what I came across when I was in the bookstore the other day…

Emoji Stickers

Emoji stickers! They didn’t end up coming home with me, which is a fact that I’m kind of starting to regret… I think another trip to the bookstore might be in order.

6. As for why I was in the bookstore in the first place… new books!

Crown Of Midnight

I tried to get into one of the books I already had in my stack after finishing Throne of Glass, but I really wanted to know how the story continued so I went out and bought the next two books. I foresee a few late nights in my near future…

7. I also foresee sharing the recipe for the crepes that I showed in yesterday’s WIAW post since so many of you were interested. Now to actually pay attention to the measurements so I don’t end up with a recipe that says “just add a little of this and a splash of that until you reach the right consistency.” Not helpful.

Homemade Crepes

8. I can never decide whether I prefer smooth or crunchy nut butters. Remember how I announced the death of my Wowbutter stash last week? Well, I went to pick up some more only to find that they only had the crunchy kind in stock. I’m usually a smooth kind of girl, but I figured that crunchy Wowbutter was better than no Wowbutter at all, so I brought a jar home with me.

Crunchy Wowbutter

Verdict? Not bad at all! The crunch makes things interesting 😆

9. Speaking of Wowbutter… guess who got her mom hooked on it?!? I never thought I’d see the day where my very traditionally Polish mom would jump on the banana & nut butter snack bandwagon, but miracles do happen! And the fact that she was willing to let me take a picture of it is more proof of that.

Banana and Wowbutter

10. And speaking of Mom… Mother’s Day is coming up soon and I managed to convince my momma to take a trip to the mountains with me for a girls’ weekend away 😀 Maybe I’ll even get lucky and be able to sneak another snowboarding trip in there too! But for now, off to get my hair done. Happy Thursday!

My phones ringer is rarely on. If it is one it is because either my kids turned it own or they are gone an I worry about missing their calls. Also I need those emoji stickers to mail a friend.
I think I may need some assistance linking up next week. I tried and even thought I had done the link back correctly but apparently I didn’t. Either way I am glad to of found your blog and the link up. Looking forward to reading more. Have a great day!

“Crunch makes things interesting!” <—hahaha. I'm dying.
Only because I can completely relate and anyone outside of the blog world would probably deem us insane for having such strong feelings about nut butter.

And I may or may not have a few bananas that I've specifically been saving to make those muffins.
    Can't. Wait.

    Those crepes…oohhhmmmggeee. Yes, recipe please!

So the bleeding finger thing- do you think you might have thin blood? Do you usually bruise easily too?

I thought it might be that, but I don’t really ever notice myself bruising too easily, no, so I haven o idea what it could be 😯

I get so excited when I have a few spotty bananas left at the end of the week!
As for the nut butters, I usually go with smooth but once it a while its nice to have the chunky kind to switch things up.
Have fun in the mountains for your girls weekend!

I’m more of a smooth peanut butter kind of girl too, but sometimes crunch can be a nice change up! I can’t wait to try out some of your recipes when I’m home this summer!

I’m so glad that I found this link up. It might be my favorite post of the week.

I also love reading random facts. I think they have books filled with them that you put in your bathroom…or I guess it doesn’t have to go in your bathroom haha.

NUMBER 2!!! I do the same thing. And if I accidently turn it on sound, I get extreme anxiety hearing the noises. lol! I like not being connected all the time and allowing time between text messages and things. Especially since I hate being the person standing around waiting for a text…

And I got my mom HOOKED on Sunbutter so I know how you feel about the WOWbutter! I was so happy she became addicted to something other than the regular ‘ole Jif. It’s all about stepping out of boundaries, right? 😉

Riiiight?! Omg. Hearing my phone kind of ticks me off because I feel like it’s demanding my attention. When I have it on silent, I can choose to give it attention when it works for ME 😆 And yes, I realize that sounds ridiculously spoiled.

I almost always keep my phone on vibrate, but occasionally when I’m moving from room to room I’ll put it on ring. A few months ago, a phone was ringing in my apartment, and none of my roommates moved to answer it. Turned out it was my phone — I just didn’t recognize my ringtone! Haha. Whoops.

I generally go for smooth nut butter, but that’s because I like my nut butter to be easily spreadable and melty. Crunchy doesn’t spread nearly as well in my experience.

I LOVE your phone case – adorable!!

I found a recipe for red velvet banana bread yesterday. Why yes, I will be making that this weekend 🙂

I’m glad to see you’re as addcited to Throne of Glass as I am – the novellas are also amazing. I absolutely cannot wait for the third book to come out this fall.

Enjoy your trip to the mountains – I’m planning on going FOR SURE for the Banff marathon in June (I’ll be hobble/running the half)

I should start putting my phone on silent sometimes too. Sometimes I think my phone will explode since the notifications makes it goes off so many times throughout the day! It really is distracting and a bit chaotic at times.

Oh my gosh, emoji stickers!!! I need those 🙂 Especially the annoyed faces for my work documents, hehehehehe. And your poor finger! About a year ago, my dad was visiting and I was cutting bread awaiting his arrival and I seriously almost cut off the top of my finger. I went through a bajillion paper towels and thought I was going to need a blood transfusion. #dramaqueen 😉

Oh gosh those facts were goooood. True story, I actually make my own Gatorade since store bought kills me with all its sugar and additives. It literally gives me the worst tummy ache, but in the summer months I need more than water to keep my going out there on the soccer pitch, so I just mix some water, cranberry juice and sea salt. BOOM. It tastes pretty bomb diggity too 🙂
And seriously I am the emoji QUEEN. Im constantly texting people just random emoji’s that I find are cute. Yep, Im THAT girl….

I need #5 in my life! They are so awesome, any text w/out an Emjoi is just not as cool 😉 I am forced to leave my phone on silent at work, but I don’t have many of my apps setup for notifications anyways. So, it’s always a pleasant surprise when I check my phone and have new things waiting for me 🙂

It used to buzz in the middle of the night and woke me up a few times so every since then silent mode. On the crepes, I don’t even know HOW to make crepes from scratch, do you need a really non stick pan? Mayyy have to try those, my list of things to make from your site gets longer every day shesh !!!

I very rarely have my phone off silent! Most of the time I am in school and can’t have the phone randomly ringing. The only bad thing to this is sometimes I do not realize that something bad happened and I don’t know for a bit. Like when my son broke his leg on the first day of school in September. My phone had like 50 text messages/phone calls! Opps!

I don’t have to keep my phone on silent because half the time it register that I got a text until I actually open the text message app….ughhhh my upgrade needs to happen soon, so I can get rid of my piece of ish phone and dive into the world of emojis 😉

And the honey thing – Atticus was sick with some sort of cough about 3-4 months back, and I just gave him about half a tablespoon of honey…cleared him right up.

And I’m going to my parents on Saturday…so basically, my mom’s Mothers Day present is to have me in her presence. And to cook dinner for me. I’m such a fabulous daughter. :-p
