. thinking out loud #155 .

November 5, 2015 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 82 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. My brain is literally farting right now (read: I have writer’s block). Last week there were tonnes of random things that I wanted to talk to you guys about, and this week it’s all crickets and cobwebs up there. But I haven’t missed a ToL in 155 weeks (!!!!!), and I’m not about to ruin my perfect streak now. So hi. Let’s chat.

Curly Hair Selfie

2. Actually, I wouldn’t mind going out for a run first to see if that helps get the creative juices flowing. The only thing is that it’s cold (2ΒΊC/36Β°F), dark (~5pm), and I have a belly full of pizza. No joke. Dinner tonight was courtesy of Amy and her roasted veggie pizza, which I absolutely demolished. And when I say “demolished,” I mean this is the only piece that managed to survive…

Last Measly Pizza Slice

 3. What can I say? My appetite has been off.the.charts lately, and I’ve actually been trying to snack less and just eat bigger meals to see if that would be more satisfying. It seems to be working, and it’s been nice to not have to worry about eating every couple of hours. I know, I know… probably not something you’d ever expect to hear from a serial snacker. I’ve actually been meaning to do a WIAW on it, which I will get around to one of these days.

4. And yes, I eat dinner around 4:30pm. This delight savings thing has my poor body all sorts of confused, and waking up at 4am means breakfast is at 5, lunch is somewhere around 10, and dinner is at 4:30. Can we please just do away with the whole clock changing thing? I think I’d rather it be darker in the mornings than have it be pitch black by 5 — it make me want to crawl in bed by 9.

Candlelight

5. Actually, it’s about 7:30 right now and I’m seriously ready to call it a day… so I think I’m going to end things here and go curl up with a book. Sorry guys — I know this post was a little on the shorter side, but the past couple of days have been a little rough and I’m not really feeling like my normal peppy self. I hope you’re having an awesome day, and I’ll see your lovely faces soon <3

I hope you’re feeling like yourself in no time. But then again, it’s okay to not always be peppy.
We eat dinner earlyish (530-6) but I don’t get to bed early so a snack is always had before bed. I really wish I was better at going to bed on time!

I am all about early dinner! Eating too late makes me have weird dreams. Early darkness is just beginning. Yuck! I’m a big fan of Amy’s Spinach Pizza, but it’s got cheese πŸ™‚

Oh-the clocks! I am so out of sorts too! I am hungry at 4:00 and wanting bed by 8! It is like I am 4 years old! Finding something to say every day is hard enough, and being sleep-wanting makes it that much harder! Great post- you got it done!

Ha I’m in bed by 9 every day anyways. But it makes it easier to fall asleep, that’s for sure. I don’t love how dark it is walking home from work at night now. I feel like it’s so much later than it is! I, too, have been eating bigger meals and I’ve actually noticed a huge difference in how I feel.

It does, eh? I used to think I loved snacking, but I think the reason I snacked so much was because I was never satisfied.

Oh Amanda – my daughter and I eat dinner at 4.30pm and my fam and friends make fun of us for it – I’m so glad I’m not the only one!
I sure hope you get back to feeling like your peppy self again – whatever it is that’s bugging ya- it too will pass, you know.

I’m so with you on the eating dinner early thing. I’m up by 5 so have breakfast then. Even with snacks throughout the day, I’m craving lunch by 11, and dinner by 4-4:30 though I usually have to hold off until 5. Now with daylight savings it just makes everything worse! Ugh. Already counting the days until Dec. 21st-ish when the days start to get longer.

We all have those days when we just can’t think of anything. Brain farts are common in my brain! In fact, I actually carry a notebook around just so that I can jot down random occurances or ideas to chat about on the blog! Sad, but true. Sometimes my brain needs a little help πŸ˜‰

I do end up hibernating in the winter because it gets dark so early. Sunset is slightly after 5:30 right now and I know it’s going to get worse as we get more into winter. I’ve been quite hungry this week too because my stomach never gets the memo about the time change. It likes daylight savings and won’t budge.

I don’t like that it’s dark earlier, but I love seeing the sun up for my morning commute!
Sometimes I find that the more I snack, the hungrier I am during the day. Hefting up your regular meals can definitely make a difference!

Everyone’s putting out decorations and our downtown is getting ready for Light Up Night and I’m in shorts and a T shirt. When did I move to California..seriously!?

I am asleep by 9:30ish. Always. Especially lately with a dog waking me up at 2:30 every morning. I do eat my meals later, since my husband gets home later – and sometimes I’m starving by dinner time!

Love Amy’s roasted veggie pizza. You’re supposed to leave something over? Who knew? Actually, I like the single serving one for just that reason.

I strongly believe in early dinner times! I do much better that way and I find it all balances out. If I wait too long to eat, it’s not pretty. Tonight I think I am going out for dinner and when I heard it will be after 7, I was like um, I don’t know about this. Snacks don’t really help me when I am really hungry so it sounds like I will be having a light dinner before dinner πŸ™‚

YES to getting rid of taking the clocks back. I’m done with it. I would much rather have it a little darker in the morning (maybe I’ll be able to sleep in a bit, and plus mornings suck already, a little darkness is fine by me) and light a little later. And DLS when you have a kid? Miserable. Just miserable.
