a special someone, my OCD tendencies, and hoodie popcorn (ToL#174)

March 17, 2016 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 88 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. Happy St.Paddy’s Day! Please don’t pinch me because it’s 99.99% guaranteed that I’m not wearing even a spec of green – it’s just not my colour. That being said, it’s also 99.99% guaranteed that I had one of these vanilla mint oatmeal smoothies for breakfast, so I am rocking a bit of green… in my stomach 😉

Shamrock Shake Smoothie

2. So in addition to it being St.Paddy’s, today also (and more importantly) happens to be the birthday of one of my very bestest blends-turned-friends. Meg and I first met at Blend 2014, where we connected after randomly finding ourselves separated from the rest of the pack and hiking down a mountain together. We’ve been chatting daily ever since, and I don’t even think I can tell you how much love I have for this woman. If you know her, you love her. And if you don’t know her, then you should go check her out because you most definitely will love her. Be sure to head on over to her blog and wish her a happy birthday!!

Meg and I at the Falls

Happy Birthday, boo! 😘 🎎

3. So tell me if this is crazy… Whenever I start feeling super stressed out or overwhelmed, the first thing I want to do is clean. Obviously this only applies when I’m at home, but yeah – I just get hit with this massive urge to tidy up ALL the things. And the crazy part is that it really does help calm me down. I guess I just can’t handle the external clutter on top of the internal clutter… so I clean the crazy away 😂

Swiffering to Warm Up

4. Speaking of which… I think it’s seriously time to invest in one of those small hand-held vacuums. Things can get pretty messy when I’m shooting a recipe, and – you guessed it – it bothers the crap out of me. The same applies when I’m making a recipe – I clean as I go because a cluttered kitchen completely throws me off my game.

5. Feel free to bust out that crazy label now, I won’t be offended 🙃 🙂 🙃 🙂

6. Can we please talk about how much I love being an ambassador for Love Grown Foods? Not only do I love the people and what they stand for, but I’m seriously addicted to their products. I’ve already professed my love for their Mighty Flakes a handful of times, and I just got around to trying their new Fruity Sea Star cereal for kids (munching on handfuls as we speak), and I love that one too. No surprise since I’m basically a kid at heart.

Love Grown Sea Stars

7. I’m currently feeling a little more like this guy, though…

Hoodie Popcorn

This week was a looooong one, and I’m more than ready for the weekend. I might even try watching some TV and whipping up some hoodie popcorn 😂

Disclosure: as a Love Grown ambassador, I do receive many of their products for free, but I was not asked to post a review nor was I compensated for my time. I just love their products, which is why I’m sharing them with you.

I’m dying laughing at that popcorn hood. It’s so genius though! Everytime I eat popcorn half of it ends up in my bra so I just might try that next time.

I’m the same way about cleaning when I’m stressed. If I can’t clear the clutter in my head, I try to clear the clutter in my space. Then everything is clean and I feel accomplished, but I still haven’t touched my to-do list… so I try to use that as momentum to do the other things! 🙂 And I need to try Love Grown! New cereal is always a good idea!

Completely forgot about St Pattys Day until you just reminded. Man – what a bad Irish woman I am! Guess I’d better find something green to wear to the gym today. I’m fairly certain a Ginger with freckles and green eyes scream Leprechaun, but the last thing I need to be is pinched!

I’m not wearing green either, to protest. I hated getting pinched because I didn’t have much in the way of green growing up, so I won’t wear it now. I have a couple green shirts but nope, not today.

I don’t own green either. For TV I stood in front of a green wall, so it I wore green I disappeared and green is not really my color either… so I just got out of the habit of buying it. I have some blue shirts slightly more in the blue-green family so that’s normally the best I do on St. Patrick’s day!

Happy Birthday Meg! I’m probably not likely to be wearing any green today either. I like green, I just don’t wear it. I really just don’t wear much color in general. I clean when I’m stressed too. It relaxes me. I’ve explained to my husband a million times that external clutter makes me feel out of sorts, so the cleaner things stay, the more calm I tend to be.

Um, the hoodie idea is kinda brilliant! I would just worry that I was going to end up with stains on it! 🙂

I get the urge to clean when I am stressed too! Its like once I feel stressed, I feel the need to do everything, whether or not it will actually help. Not sure if my stress cleaning calms me down though, because I then I get anxious about making a mess again! I really want to get a small hand-held vacuum.

I finally tried overnight oats with your oatmeal smoothie recipe you posted yesterday. It was delicious. I actually don’t look too bad in green but I don’t have any work shirts that are green so dressing in green will have to wait until I change when I get home. I am not really a drinker anyway but I will eat those green veggies to celebrate the holiday 🙂

    b) I LOVE LOVE GROWN FOODS

Green actually IS my color, but chances are I won’t wear it today anyway. Or maybe now I will since you’ve got me thinking about it.

That smoothie looks delish, but I just don’t like smoothies for breakfast (or when it’s cold, and it’s getting cold again, sadly).

I’ve heard about you people — the ones that clean when stressed. Heck, I don’t even want to clean when I’m not stressed! Least favorite thing. But my husband did get me a handheld for Hannukah & I must say it’s great — especially when I get something like cocoa on the floor, since Miss Lola makes it her mission to make sure my floors are clean. 🙂

Lynne gets banned from the kitchen when I’m preparing a recipe for a shoot. I literally have to turn the place upside down, moving furniture and there’s always a huge pile of cleaning isn’t there? I don’t see ANY issue with getting one of those small hand held vacuums BTW. In fact I may have one on a certain wish list. Ahem.! A wish list that now needs to have that hoodie added to it. 😉

I’m actually thinking about setting up a little rollable kitchen cart from Ikea up next to a window so I can keep all my props in one place and not have to run around like a crazy person every time I’m trying to set up a shoot 😕
