. thinking out loud #108 .

December 11, 2014 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 104 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. You guys rock my [Christmas] socks off.

Christmas Sockies

Last week’s ToL linkup was the biggest one to date, so a huge shout out to everyone who participated for making that happen! Actually, a huge thank you to everyone who continues to read, participate, and support Thinking Out Loud in general. Did you know… that this week marks one year since the very first linkup? Yup! December 12, 2013 is when it all started. I had no idea it would take off like it did, but I’m super stoked about it because I love reading your guys’ random thoughts. So, thank you. Love you.

2. That’s why I’m going to share one of my favourite coffee hacks with you. Cinnamon. Yup, cinnamon. Adding a [healthy] shake of cinnamon to your coffee will rock your [Christmas] socks off. And may I suggest trying it with Starbucks’ Christmas Blend? I’m no flavour pairings expert like this girl, but it does taste pretty darn fantastijazzical.

Christmas Cinnamon Blend

3. So do these Chocolate Gingerbread Truffles… #shamelessplug

Chocolate Gingerbread Truffles

If you follow me on Facebook, you may have already seen me post about them, and if not, then my latest recipe is up over on Savory Style, so check it out if you’re looking for a quick and easy holiday cookie recipe that’s guaranteed to please.

4. This totally made my day…

Chiquita Twitter

#bananaloving

5. As did this…

Pandora Charms

December 6th was Saint Nicholas’ Day, which is a Christmas tradition that my parents grew up with in Poland and continued to practice after they came over to Canada a few years before I was born. This year, Mom got me a couple of Pandora charms, which she apparently picked up when we were in Whistler. I have no idea how she managed to hold onto them for over three months (!!!) without spilling the beans — I’d go insane. This is why I do my Christmas shopping at the last minute — I can’t help but want to give the gifts right away.

6. That being said, I have actually done some shopping already. Woohoo! I hit up the mall earlier this week (when the crowds were tame), and while I can’t show you what I bought, I can show you two ornaments that I picked up from Pottery Barn…

Bird Ornament Kitty Ornament

They’ll fit right in with the rest of my woodland critters…

Christmas Critters

7. I can also share some of my Christmas list with you! While out shopping, I hit up Sephora in what feels like the first time in forever, in hopes of coming up with some answers to the pesky question of “what do you want for Christmas?” Well… this, friends, is some of what I want for Christmas…

Christmas Makeup Wishes

1. Naked On The Run – Urban Decay

2. Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette (in Soul) – Stila

3. Lights, Camera, Action 4-in-1 Mascara – Tarte

4. Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (in Captivating) – Tarte

8. Also… because I’m 13 going on 30 (less than a month now!!!), I’ll admit that I’m half-considering adding one of these to the list…

Disney Tsum Tsum

But seriously… how freaking cute are these Disney Tsum Tsum?!? I can’t even handle it.

9. I’m starting to think that this ladybug really wants a shoutout, because it’s been sitting on my laptop charger for the past 30 minutes or so, refusing to move even when gently prodded. I guess it’s a cozy place to sit…

Ladybug Stalker

10. And heyyyy #10 is back! (I’ve been stopping on #9 for a couple of weeks now). But it’s only to say… Happy Thursday, you friendly faces 😀

You’ve got a great link-up going on here Amanda! Congrats on 1 year. I usually do a similar post called “Thursday Thoughts” – I’ll have to remember to link up in the future. Have a great weekend!

We celebrate Saint Nicholas’ Day too! (Germany) I love it! I don’t know if it is the same for you, but we place our boots in front of the door (in front of my room, not completely outside, lol) and Saint Nicholas comes at night and puts goodies inside (only if you’ve been a good girl though!). I obviously was 😉 I got some cute stuff. But we don’t give huge gifts on the 6th, rather small things like decoartion stuff, and nuts, apples, oranges, and some chocolate.

Ahhh that’s EXACTLY how we did it! Except we’d never get apples, but everything is spot-on! My dad is from Germany, so maybe that’s why we did it that way as well. Now since I’m off at college, I no longer get nuts and oranges and my goodies come in a package in the mail. But it’s still so fun to celebrate, even as an adult!

That’s so cool! Oh man my mum wouldn’t have sent me these things via mail, Lucky you 😉 good thing I spent that weekend at home, haha. I love those traditions even as a grown up (at least age-wise 😉 )

What beautiful charms! And if I used makeup more, I would totally get one of those – love the neutral colors… they’re just so pretty.

I wish I could take a picture of my socks right now! I’m wearing candy cane ones 🙂 it’s one of the most fun parts of the Christmas season!

I weirdly don’t like sprinkling cinnamon in my coffee once it’s brewed but I mix it in with the grounds BEFORE I make my coffee. Not sure why I like it better that way but it is really good!

I’m not a fan of the cinnamon in coffee thing. Maybe I’m putting too much but the cinnamon doesn’t dissolve and it actually tastes quite bitter.

I just bought my first Naked palette (and funnily enough just blogged about it). I was debating the Naked on the Run but I opted to go for the massive Naked3 palette instead and I’m officially in love.

I am also in love with your Christmas socks. Happy Thursday!!

I love putting cinnamon in my coffee. My Mom does it too and she gets a little too crazy with the cinnamon for my taste. I love your cutesy little ornaments!! So adorable!! All I have left to shop for on my Christmas List is my Dad and I might just choose to make him something so I’m almost done!

Cinnamon is God’s gift to this Earth! It makes everything taste better. The same goes for vanilla extract. Love that stuff in baked goods! And I love your woodland creatures ornaments! I just saw some at Target yesterday and got all sorts of giddy. So cute.

Dude you have a menagerie on your tree. Way to bust out the woodland creatures, and you definitely need one of those Disney plush dolls since you’ve been eyeing them since Toronto.

I hope the ladybug found a safe new home after you packed up your computer for the day.

I hadn’t seen the naked on the go set before. It’s on my xmas list now! I’ve been considering getting one of the Naked palettes for awhile now because I love the neutral colors, but the full-size ones seem like an overwhelming number of options and I really love all-in-one sets. I’ve been using Benefit’s Bronze of Champions for the last few months, so maybe I’ll switch over if Santa grants my wishes 🙂

The Naked palettes are really great! I’ve had mine for years, and they’re still the ones I turn to the most. They also have a Basics palette that has a few less shadows if the big ones are too many for you!

I am SO BAD about spoiling gifts before it’s time to give them. I just bought my boyfriend and I tickets to a show he’s been wanting to see forever and I’m DYING to tell him. I’m gonna have to tape my mouth shut between now and when I give them to him.

Also I need all of those Woodland Creatures. NEED.

Omg those truffles. I love anything and everything gingerbread this time of year!

I don’t ever know what to do with eyeshadow palettes (I don’t know what to do with eyeshadow in general lol), but that mascara sounds pretty fantastic. I’m always switching up my mascara – I used Diorshow for a while, then the green Cover Girl one. Who knows what I’ll buy next.
