. saturday confessions .

September 10, 2011 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 95 Comments

I feel as though I need to get some things off my chest…

Ahem.

Confession: I could probably eat the same breakfast for the rest of my life without complaint.

Eggy oats – Banana – Almond butter – Pudding.

. – . – . – .

Confession: I feel slightly guilty for eating things that are shaped like animals…

… but it’s not enough to stop me from eating them.

. – . – . – .

Confession: I like macaroni and cheese better when it’s cold…

… and alongside a hardboiled egg [and ketchup].

. – . – . – .

Confession: Remember how I said I was going to start packing this weekend?

Yeah. Didn’t happen…

. – . – . – .

Confession: … because I spent most of my free time re-reading this for fun…

Feel free to call me crazy.

. – . – . – .

Confession: I’m slightly terrified that I’m going to chip a tooth on this chunky almond butter…

They mean serious business.

. – . – . – .

Confession: I legitimately squeaked out loud when I came across this sight…

… and I may or may not have bought three boxes.

. – . – . – .

Confession: I’ve developed a serious cereal addiction…

Greek yogurt – Blueberries – Puffins – Puffed wheat – Kashi Sunshine.

Greek yogurt – Banana – Puffins – Kashi Sunshine – Trail mix.

. – . – . – .

Confession: … and I had a bowl for dinner again tonight…

Greek yogurt – Blueberries – Banana – Puffins – Kashi Sunshine – Almond butter.

. – . – . – .

Confession: These are my crack…

. – . – . – .

Confession: There’s a certain issue concerning protein sources that’s been nagging me for quite some time now…

… and I could really use some input, so I plan on going into more detail in a separate post.

Happy Saturday loves! 😀

. – . – . – .

Can you relate to any of my confessions?

Anything you need to get off your chest?

ohyah there are definitely meals I could eat over and over and over and over….like my kefir/banana/berries/cereal mix every morning. I even almost went to the store after the gym this morning to get kefir, and then I was like come on kate that’s ridiculous you can life without it for two days haha.

And cereal for dinner = best ever!! cold mac and cheese I’ve never had, but I can imagine it’s similar to the cold pizza thing….and I looove cold pizza haha.

Also…..I’m so glad someone else reads Homer for fun…..lol I’ve re-read The Odyssey twice since I had to read it for my greek lit class sophomore year – and it’s so much better now that I know all the literary criticism junk haha

😆 I’ve SO made special trips to the store before just to pick up one item if I ran out of it at home, but I’m getting better with living without certain things. I’m not sure how well that would work with almond butter or oats, though 😯 And yes, cold mac and cheese is extremely similar to cold pizza, and just as wonderful 😀

That almond butter is seriously chunky! I actually prefer the crunchy AB to smooth so it looks amazing, if not dangerous for the teeth 😉

Confession: I like my food cold. I hate when things are steaming hot because I always end up burning my tongue and I can’t taste the food. I let my food sit for awhile or stick it in the fridge to cool down.

Confession: I bake my mac and cheese and let it sit at room temperature until I touch it. Then, I eat it cold and never think of re-heating it once. Also, I [used to] place cheese on the top strategically so when it first comes out of the oven I pick off the cheesy brown bits on the top of the casserole.

Confession: I really am glad I came by your blog because, although it’s creepy me constantly saying how much we have in common, I like to feel like there’s someone out there I could possibly be best friends with and it makes me feel less alone.

Confession: I eat oatmeal once everyday. I think sometimes I make it just for the melty peanut butter.

Confession: I buy all sugar-free and fat-free puddings and snack packs so I don’t feel guilty eating a whole pack of them [along with filling them with FF reddiwhip numerous times and eating the whip out of the cup].

I have plenty more but I’ll keep it to this for nowww.

I love Annie mac and cheese and topped with a hardboiled egg and ketchup actually sounds amazingly good. Crunchy nut butter the the.way.to.go. I’ve NEVER had protein powder. Am I missing out? I kind of think the whole “you don’t eat meat, how do you get enough protein?!?!” thing is super annoying.

Oh and I can definitely relate to saying I’ll do something this weekend and not doing it. Kind of what I’ve been doing about emailing college cross country coaches…. since January. I relate to a lorra these confessions- especially the cookie dough addiction and the cereal- and I had it for dinner too. Cereal CAN be nutritious(I pimp my bowls out), its ver ver delicious and its SO easy to whip up a fantastic bowl in 5 mins when I can’t be bothered cooking- what’s not to love about cereal? Confession= I live on my own and have 19 boxes of cereal in my flat- some people might think this is a problem/weird, I think they’re just jealous:)
Confession 2= I am absolutely smitten with your recipes, food combos, pictures, blog and YOU!

Hey Amanda! I just came across your blog and I love it!!!
My confession: I told myself I would read The Iliad this summer and I never even picked it up. What’s worse… I read The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky instead and I only kinda liked it. I should have read the Iliad.
AND the reason you like macaroni and cheese with egg is because you’re Polish (seriously, my husband is PL and he puts hard boiled eggs on everything!!!!)

Where on EARTH (OK, where in this country) did you find Puffins so cheap? The best I’ve bought them for was $4.99, on sale…

I can totally relate to your breakfast confession – I’ve had the same thing for breakfast, allowing for topping changes, for the past year and a half. Clearly I’m not going to change my ways anytime soon. And I also have a slight thing for cereal too – I’m off to university tomorrow, and I’m bringing cereal. Such a nerd.

Today’s confession: am meant to be on call for work, ready to head in at a moment’s notice if they need me… but I’m going to Zumba class this morning. I’ll just slip my phone into my sports bra in case they call.

    Oh.my.goodness. I know you’ll appreciate this little story…

This weekend is the annual arts festival in my town, so naturally I strolled on down there to get some culture into my life. Except I got side-tracked because Kashi had a huge display–the “Kashi REAL tour,” to promote healthy living. They let you try basically every kind of product they have (I sampled three different kinds of cereals and two granola bars and they had other stuff too). Then, at the end of the tour, they gave me a goodie bag stuffed with more free samples and coupons. It made my day–no, my week 😀

Oh, and that almond butter looks super intense. I only recently got into crunchy nut butter. I’m still not sure which I like better. Good thing I don’t have to choose 🙂

Please girl, your eggy oats need no confession! I consider it something that just comes with you…kind of like having a second middle name or something! 😉

With Puffins that cheap, I would have done a full out in-zone dance in the middle of the aisle! AND I definitely would have bought at LEAST three boxes! Actually wait, that HAS happened to me before…and that’s exactly what I did! haha!

Holy chunky nut butter! Be careful with that thing sweetie! I seriously thought it was mixed up OIAJ at first glance! What brand is that?

Mad props for reading that book for fun…I’d probably need a dictionary for every other word! :-/

Haha yeah, they do look pretty lethal. I think it’s mostly because I store my jars upside down so I don’t have to stir them, and then all the chunks end up at the top. Hopefully it’ll settle before I break a tooth 😆 And the brand is Maisie Jane’s.
