Today is the day!

🎶 I’m leaving on a jet plane. I don’t know when I’ll be back again 🎶… except that I’ll be back on Monday, so that’s not entirely accurate, but close enough!

By the time you read this, I’m either: at home freaking out, waiting at the airport, on aforementioned jet plane, or in Vegas. I love travelling, but man oh man could I ever do without the last couple of days before I leave. I definitely know I’m not the only one who feels this way, but I always get crazy overwhelmed with all the things that need to get done before I leave on any sort of trip… but then once I’m at the airport I forget about everything.

Anywho! I’ve got all my regular posts scheduled for while I’m away, so what’s say we kick things off with a little Currently action?!?

Currently

Current book: Remember my big bookstore splurge from last week? I decided to start with The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks, and I’m really enjoying it so far. I’m about halfway through, and it actually reminds me a lot of The Lies of Locke Lamora, which is a book/series I adore. I’m curious to see how this one plays out.

The Way of Shadows

Current music: This one was tough this month since I’ve kind of been on a mission to find new songs that I won’t constantly want to skip over, but I’m gonna go withhhhhh… The Resistance by Skillet.

[youtube=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCWmHbpD0fE&w=640&h=427″]

Current [non]-guilty pleasure: Video games. I feel like I say that for this question a lot, but gaming, in addition to driving, snowboarding, and reading, are my all-time favourite ways to relax.

Current drink: Iced Americanos. You guys… I can’t do the hot coffee thing anymore. In fact, I feel like I’m not as crazy about coffee in general and mostly drink it out of habit/routine. Might be time to switch back to cappuccinos instead of just drinking ’em black. Maybe I need more sweetness in my life.

Current food: Chickpeas, but in baked goods. I don’t think I’m as crazy about chickpeas as most people seem to be (I like kidney beans way better), but I’m currently LOVING them in grain-free baking. You guys have seen these banana bread bars, and I’ve got a couple more recipes in the works that I can’t wait to share with you 😁

Grain Free Banana Bars

Current obsession: The contents of this box! You guys know how obsessed I am with my Erin Condren Life Planner, so when the awesome people over at EC contacted me and asked me if I’d like to review the 2017 planner and some of the new accessories, it was like… uhm… YES!! I’ll share the deets when I get back home next week.

Erin Condren Box

Current craving: I can’t actually think of anything, so I guess I’m good!

Current need: To paint my nails before I leave. I’m thinking of going with black this time around since I haven’t done a super dark colour in a long while. Either that or a classic red 🤔 I’d ask for your opinions, but it’ll be too late by the time this post goes live, unless I paint my nails in the airport or on the plane, which… NO.

Essie Gel Couture

Current indulgence: I’m holding off on the indulgences until I get to Vegas. And by that I mostly mean that I want to do some shopping while I’m down there so I’m tying to keep it reigned in until then 😜

Current beauty product: Remember how I said that I didn’t like the “bane of existence” question? Someone suggested replacing it with “current beauty product,” which I’m loving since I’m a huge beauty junkie. Anyways! Right now I’m all over this Shade & Light eye contour palette from Kat Von D.

Kat Von D Eye Contour Palette

Current procrastination: Packing! I’m leaving early tomorrow morning (today), and as of this moment (Wednesday night), I have yet to even take my suitcase out of the closet. Good thing I keep a running list of things I need to take.

Current confession: I don’t know if I’ve ever told you guys this, but I’m not much of a drinker. And by that I mean that I’ll maybe have one or two drinks a couple times a year? I’m just not a huge fan of how it makes me feel, so yeah… I go to Vegas and I don’t drink or gamble 😂

Current quote: So much YES to this! You’re responsible for your own happiness…

Make Yourself Happy

Current excitement: Vegas, baby!!

Current mood: Flustered and a little bit overwhelmed. As much as I like going away, the last few days before I leave always have me feeling like a headless chicken and I’m really looking forward to forgetting about everything and having a good time.

Yay, Vegas! I’ve always wanted to go there. Hope you’re having fun!

    Here are my current things:
Book – Bloodlines, by Skyla Dawn Cameron. Vampires and witches. Loving it!
Music – I haven’t been listening to music much, apart from the radio on my drive to/from work. I do really like the new Bastille single, Good Grief.
Food – Philadelphia salmon & dill flavour. Someone in work had a tub in the fridge and I was so curious that I bought one for myself this evening. I’m in love!
Obsession – I can’t think of one. I’ve been flitting around in every aspect of my life lately.
Confession – I distance myself from difficult/emotional situations, and then always regret it.

Book: Still trying to get through a kind of meh book, the second in a series, “The Rogue Knight”. But it’s not holding my attention, and meanwhile I’ve already finished the first two in the Wings of Fire series, and I really want to read the third. So I might have to read that before I finish “The Rogue Knight”. 😉

Music: I know I’m super late to the party, but I am just discovering that I’m really enjoying some songs by pop artists. Right now, I’m exploring some TS songs, but I also still loving lyric songs from movies.

Food: I’ve been hugely obsessed with this giant chocolate cookie by Emilie Eats (http://www.emilieeats.com/huge-chocolate-protein-cookie-for-one-vegan-gluten-free/). I add in extra oat flor, applesauce and sweetener and par-bake them, because I am weird and like gooey-half-raw things. But I’ve been wanting it for multiple days this week, which is atypical for me. 😋

Obsession: Cousin/extended family time. My cousins came to stay for a few days and it was like siblings we didn’t know we had!! It was so much fun, and now all I can think about is how much I miss them and want to do it again. Which basically means I’m counting down the days till October when we’re going on vacation to visit our extended family. 😉

Confession: I am horrible at adulting, which I loudly proclaim along with many of my fellow Millennials. I realized recently that I kind of use that fact as an excuse to hide behind. Then this week, I was reminded that sometimes I just need to *get out there* and start experiencing life and then it will come more naturally.

Ok that giant cookie looks INSANE! And I totally know what you mean by liking gooey-half-raw things – that’s the way I Like them too! I seriously wish I had more family that lived closer… As it stands, they’re all over in Poland so I only see them once every handful of years.

Hope you have so much fun in Vegas, Amanda!! I haven’t been there in forever, but it’s fun with or without drinking (although I’ve never been old enough to drink there, so maybe it’s not fun??). I might be that way about beer in Ireland. If only drink it because it’s the “thing to do” there haha.

Sometimes I get bored with coffee but I keep drinking it from habit and because I like the ritual of it in the morning. I drink it black these days because I just want it to do its job without impacting my body or health more than necessary!

I LOVE traveling, I HATE packing. Even though I usually end up taking the same basic things when I travel, I just really dislike doing it. I don’t drink much either. I don’t mind a few sips of something, but in general I could pretty happily live my life without alcohol. Not much of a gambler either but I do still like Vegas! Have fun!

I’m with you on the drinking thing. I’ll drink once or twice a year and have one to two drinks max each time. I don’t like how it makes my stomach feel just a few sips in, so I choose to abstain. I’d rather enjoy the food in Vegas- I’ve heard it’s amazing. Have such a great time!

Ooh la la! Shopping in Vegas, that’s gonna be so fun 🙂 . My current book is “Will Write For Food” by Dianne Jacob. My current music is Fergalicious, Crank That, and Get Low. These throwbacks have been cracking me up during my workouts. My current food has been bananas and peanut butter (even more than usual 😉 !). My current obsession has been CoSchedual. I just signed up for the month free trial and I’m already hooked. The Type A planner in me is glowing, haha. My current confession is I stayed up till 11:30 last night pouring over Gal Meets Glam. Add that blog to my current obsession too 😉 !
