. thinking out loud #150 .

October 1, 2015 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 100 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. Hi and welcome to the new and improved Spoons! It doesn’t look any different, you say? That’s because all the ‘new and improved’ parts are the behind-the-scenes things that no one tells you about when you first start a blog. Oi.  Remember the techie issues I was having a few weeks back? They kept popping up. Apparently the server I was previously on just couldn’t handle the load anymore, so I ended up having to upgrade to better one. Frustrating, but it’s also pretty neat to see this little place of mine grow.

2. Also frustrating is the fact that I somehow managed to run out of so many of my beauty/skincare products at the same time. I haven’t made a trip out to Sephora in… err… a while… and I’m kind of scared to see how big my bill is going to be the next time I go in there considering I need to restock on so many staples. And that’s saying nothing about the new makeup that always manages to suck me in as I meander through the store… #prayforspoons'[wallet].

Beauty Staples

 [ 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ]

3. BUT! I did manage to find a cheaper drugstore alternative to the higher-end makeup primer that I’ve been using. It’s the Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer from L’Oreal, and I honestly think I like it more than the Porefessional from Benefit. It gives my skin a nice healthy glow, makes my makeup go on super smooth, makes it last all day, and doesn’t break me out. Definitely recommended.

LOreal Lumi Magic

Loreal Lumi

4. And awww! Writing all that out made me think of all the Monthly Favourites posts that I used to do… I miss those! I stopped doing them at the end of last year in favour doing monthly recaps, but I’m thinking about bringing them back. Let me know what you think!

5. Have you guys noticed the new “selfies” album that came with the iOS9 update? I’m not sure how I feel about seeing 121 pictures of my face lumped together like that. Or about the fact that my phone apparently thinks I look like a minion…

I Am A Minion

6. And while we’re looking through the pictures I have on my phone, how about some random ones that I took on my trip to Banff and Jasper (read: the mountains) last weekend…

Spoons by the Falls

Bow River

Panoramic Mountain Shot

Icefields Parkway

Baby Mountain Goat

Prairies Are Home

7. I think I might actually like a One Direction song. I don’t know who I am anymore… but you have to admit it’s kind of catchy.

[youtube=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwgf3wmiA04&w=640&h=427″]

8. And in other random fact news…

RF Left Side Selfies

RF Yearly Coffee

RF Looking at Food

RF Lemon Slices

RF GoT Joffrey

1. Guilty! I didn’t know that side was more expressive, though — I just thought it was my better angle.
2. Uh huh. I consider it a good business investment since it makes me more productive πŸ˜†
3. Maybe that’s why I can’t be bothered to put much time or effort into my meals…
4. I’ve heard some pretty bad things about the ice in drinks as well…
5. Admit it — you wanted to punch him in the face too. I hear ya.

9. Alright, friendly faces, that’s it for me today. I’m off to try and get rid of this weird headache that’s been plaguing me all day… I think I must have slept funny or something, because it’s kind of rooted in the base of my neck and making me all sorts of crabby. Hope you have yourselves an awesome Thursday!

LOL. A minion as you. That totally makes sense.

This is so random but I love the font you use. That is all.

I’ve heard that fact about the lemons from restaurants before – that’s pretty gross! I usually opt out of a lemon slice for that reason if one is offered.

Mostly because I stopped enjoying them. I was thinking about starting to do some ‘recent eats roundup’ posts every now and then, but it most likely won’t be all my meals from one day.

I’m so glad you got all of your technological issues fixed! It can be the most frustrating thing for me when my blog goes down, and I always feel the biggest sense of relief when everything is fixed.

Love all the outdoor snapshots you shared, especially the one with the mountains covered in snow – I can’t wait for that scene here in NH! And uhm absolutely never ever am I getting lemon in my water again when I’m out to eat! YUCKIES! But, I will keep buying my coffee πŸ˜‰

I love your lists of beauty products because they’re Canadian, which means I can actually find them! It’s always so frustrating when I go to buy this amazing product and we don’t have it. I am going to get that Loreal primer. I neeeeeed it. Sounds great.

I recently bought that Philosophy face wash! I found my skin got really dry at first, but after it adjusted to it, it was fine. I don’t like it as much as my old face wash though (it was from One Love Organics) so I think I’ll switch back after I finish it off.

Your pictures of the mountains are stunning!

So glad I’m not the only one obsessed with Sephora! I try really hard to make it all last as long as possible – but I definitely spend a ton of money about once a year, then don’t even blink when I walk past it for the next 10 months or so. I don’t know if that’s good or bad!

I swear I’m the last soul on the planet to ever agree to an update – I JUST installed the last update, from almost a year ago and it’s ready for me to update again. I hate the way an update changes everything to the layout of my apps to the overall look of my phone and everything in between! I will check out the new “selfie” album in about 6 months πŸ™‚ A minon?!? I most certainly think not!

Sorry about your server issues but like you said, it’s only a consquence of growing which is awesome! You should be celebrating! πŸ™‚

    1. I actually find I take more pictures showcasing my right side. Maybe that’s my dominant side?
    2. I did not know the iphone had a selfie album. Now I want to go look and see what it has in mine.
    3. I specifically do not go to Sephora for that reason. Currently I have an issue with running stores because I want #alltheshoes

I can for sure vouche for that coffee one! My father in law gets a starbucks coffee 6-7 days a week. And he gets a grande cafe mocha with an extra shot of mocha, so it’s not just a plain coffee! He spends so much money on that stuff, and after he adds all his sugar its not even coffee anymore!

That used to be me when I would get cappuccinos every day, but now I mostly stick to Pike’s, so it’s not that bad. Or at least that’s what I tell myself πŸ˜†

I actually don’t ask for lemons on my water anymore because I had read something about that a few years ago. Kind of gross right? Oh and your mountain pictures are gorgeous like always. Have a good weekend. I have a race this Sunday so I am pretty excited/nervous about it.

OhmyGOODNESS!!! BANFF!! (Sorry, I got a *leetle* excited there… ?) Banff is one place that has been on my bucket list of places to visit since I was quite little! Seeing as I live in the Seattle area of Washington, I’m thinking it shouldn’t be too hard. But every time I see pictures of Banff, it’s just breathtaking, awe-inspiring, and gives me the travel bug something awful!

Haha, now I have to look back through my selfies and see which side of my face I’m favoring. ? Hope you feel better soon! <3

I am so happy that you have a new server! I felt so bad for you the other day when I found out your website was down again. Here to hoping it won’t happen again!

I didn’t follow you when you did your favorites roundup posts, but I’m all in for bringing them back; I love those types of posts!

I’m not sure how I would like the selfie folder…I’m kind of used to all my phone pictures not being organized; it makes it more like a story. And seeing so many of my faces would definitely freak me out a bit. I already take too many selfies in one sitting!

I loved your pictures of the mountains; they stole my breath away! I can’t hardly believe that you were actually there, it looks like pictures from a National Geographic or something!

Thanks Abbie! Techie stuff drives me crazy, so hopefully things stay quiet for at least a little while. And I -think- you can actually delete individual albums without losing the pictures in them, so I might end up doing that with the selfies one.
