This super creamy mango avocado smoothie is packed with protein, healthy fats, vitamins and antioxidants. Gluten-free and easily made vegan, it makes a healthy and delicious breakfast or snack.
So remember when I told you guys about my new favourite smoothie ingredient? The one I couldn’t get enough of and added to the ranks of frozen banana and oats as my must.have.OMG additions? I’m going to guess probably not since that was kind of ages ago, and if you’re anything like me, you can’t even remember what you had for breakfast this morning.
Or maybe you can and it is just me. Awkward.
Anyways! In case you need a refresher, avocado is my new-but-not-so-new-anymore favourite smoothie ingredient, and I’m going to keep bombarding you with avocado smoothies until you give in and try one because this stuff is BOMB.
Fun fact. I didn’t have my first avocado until I was somewhere in my mid-twenties. Maybe 24. Or 25? 24. And I really didn’t like it. It tasted funny and the texture felt off (I know). That and I didn’t quite know what I was supposed to do with it. Like… Instagram wasn’t a thing and no one was taking pictures of their avocado toasts topped with all manner of things, so I literally just took a spoon, scooped some out, and… probably made a face. I look back now and think that I must have been off my rocker for not being instantly smitten with the gloriousness that is avocado, but… maybe it’s an acquired taste. Or something.
Either way! These days I can’t get enough, and if you’re only familiar with putting avocado on your toast or in your guacamole, then I’m going to keep bombarding you with… wait… no… I already said that, didn’t I?
Dammit. I need a new line.
What I’m trying to say is that I really want to convince you to try adding it to your smoothies [at least once] because it’ll rock your socks right off.
And I know it might seem a little strange, but I promise you that you can’t taste the avocado at all. Or at least I can’t. I know different people have different levels of sensitivity on their tastebuds, so if you do pick up a touch of ‘cado and find it disagreeable, just add more fruit.
Because what you’re really after is the texture.
I don’t know what kind of magic this stuff is working, but this goes way beyond creamy – it’s this light, pillowy mousse-i-ness. That’s really the only way I can describe it. Like… it’s thick and creamy, but at the same time light and whipped. Amazing stuff.
AND! Not only that, but avocados give a nice dose of healthy fats and vitamin E, which works wonders for your hair and skin. Pair that with the vitamins in mangos and some extra protein from the Greek yogurt, and you’ve got yourself one healthy smoothie powerhouse that tastes pretty darn good to boot.
