mountain scenes, teasers, and what i do when procrastinating (ToL#173)

March 10, 2016 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 103 Comments

Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. Aaaaaaand we’re back! I mean, we’ve been back since late Sunday night, but it wasn’t until yesterday that I actually started feeling more like myself and less like a zombie. It’s crazy how much those boarding trips take out of me, and even crazier how much I adore them. I mean… how could you not love a place like this?

On The Chairlift

In The Trees

Marmot Summit

2. What I don’t love is the fact that I always have such a hard time figuring out how much more I should be eating with the increased energy expenditure, which I’m guessing has something a lot to do with feeling like a zombie when I get back. This is something that I’ve struggled with as far back as I can remember, and I’m still pretty hit or miss in terms of managing to prevent it from happening (this past weekend = miss). The problem is that I completely lose my appetite after any kind of hardcore exercise… until about 2 days later when it catches up to me and all I want to can do is basically eat and sleep.

3. … which would probably explain why I went through an entire pan of Greek yogurt banana oatmeal bars in 2 days and found crumbs in my bed after everything was said and done 😆

Greek Yogurt Bars

4. It might also explain why I didn’t mind doing some extra extra experimenting on this new recipe that I’ll be sharing with you soon… you know, to make sure everything was on point 😋 It’s another healthy mug cake to add to the growing collection, buuuuuut you’ll have to wait ’till Saturday for the flavour.

Mug Cake Sneak Peak

5. So I was bored (read: procrastinating) the other day and decided to do this “We Know If You’re An Extrovert or Introvert Based On Your Disney Preferences” quiz that I found on Buzzfeed because… Disney. I have no idea what choosing a Disney villain, best friend, or place to live has to do with my personality, but I’d say my results were pretty spot on…

Disney Ambivert

6. I also had a little too much fun playing around with the filters on Snapchat, which I literally just figured out how to use. I always thought they were part of some extra package you had to download, but apparently I’m just a nooblet. You can follow me at –> runningspoons <– for Snapchat shenanigans… when I actually remember to post them 😆

Snapchat Filters

7. And because it was brought to my attention that I need to show more love to the odd-number-lovers, we’re ending things on #7 this week. Happy Thursday, friendly faces! Go out and do something awesome with your day 😁

My fifteen year old niece just taught me about the Snap Chat filters. Those teenagers are so hip. 😉

    Your mountains are beautiful.

This is the trouble with being an only child — no nieces or nephews to teach me trendy things!

Looks like a fun trip! I wish I had your problem of not eating after a hard workout. I’m more of an “eat all the things” person unfortunately.

Oh I definitely can’t escape that. It just hits me a little late.

I totally understand about not having much of an appetite while I’m so active, but then being ravenous afterward. I try to remind myself that, just like it’s okay to overeat sometimes, it’s also okay to undereat sometimes, as long as I don’t make a habit of it–I’m not racing in the Tour de France, so if I get a little low on fuel, it’s okay. On the other hand, as an eating disorder survivor, I have almost as much anxiety about not getting enough as eating too much.
Such beautiful photographs! Where do you go snowboarding?

I can completely relate to the fear of not getting enough, Joyce. I experienced that for the longest time as well, but I feel like it started to taper off when I realized that my body has a way of evening things out, and that it’ll always tell me when it needs more as long as I’m willing to listen. And I usually go snowboarding to Jasper. Sometimes Banff.

It took me so long to figure out how to use those additional features on snap chat… Now I waste too much time playing with them! Talk about wasting time, buzzfeed has me hooked too – anything Disney and I’m like ‘ooooohhh’! Haha!

It’s horrible how they make them different each day 😆 Well played, Snapchat.

I haven’t even taken the BuzzFeed quiz yet, but I feel like I’d be an ambivert just like you. Also, increased energy expenditure always throws me a loop in terms of how much I should be eating too. The hunger isn’t always there at first, but when it hits, it HITS.

I haven’t gone snowboarding in a month and it’s killing me! Lol I also thought the same thing about the filters until someone told me otherwise and then I felt like a big dummy 😂 Oops!

Your mountain pics make me so jealous! I’ve never been snowboarding or skiing and I want to try it so badly. Someday!

Definitely a great thing to have on the bucket list! If for nothing else than to just get up in the mountains.

I read an article recently about extroverted introverts, and the whole time was nodding my head, like, “This is me! I’m not just weird!”

Haha! I always thought I was way more of an introvert, but I do need people. Otherwise I just start talking to myself and it’s not that great 😆

To join Snapchat or not to join Snapchat …. It’s a no for me – especially after your post now ;). Not because it didn’t sound fun but like too much fun. Also, I can’t dare risking to procrastinate any more. Those filters, though. .. I saw one on Instagram yesterday where a cute bunny face suddenly turned into a scary monster with shark-like teeth. Not for the faint at heart.

Lol I was going to post that bunny one of myself, but it looked a little too creepy. They also have some of zombies and your head turning into a bomb. Interesting stuff. And to be fair, I didn’t think I could handle any more social media distraction, but Snapchat is fun because it’s so quick and random. Definitely doesn’t take much effort.
