. four foods i won’t eat… and other nonsense .

November 12, 2014 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 84 Comments

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Blends.are.lifesavers. I was having a hard time trying to decide what I wanted to post today, when Heather went ahead and helped me out by tagging me in a little 4 (x 13) question survey. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, and I’ve missed getting a little more personal on Spoons, soooo… here we go πŸ˜€

Four names that people call me, other than my real name:

  1. Spoons (thank you, blogging!)
  2. Sparrow (childhood nickname)
  3. Amy (Starbucks mishap that never got cleared up)
  4. A (inside joke… because I say “eh” a lot)

Four jobs I’ve had:

  1. Babysitter.
  2. Dog walker (my first shot at self-employment!! πŸ˜‰ )
  3. Body shop doer-everythinger (family business)
  4. Health coach.

Snatch

Four movies I’ve watched more than once (AND can quote):

  1. Monty Python and the Holy Grail. “Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!”
  2. Snatch. “You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.”
  3. Hot Fuzz. “Oh, you’re an agnostic, then? I think I’ve got a cream for that!”
  4. Dumb and Dumber. “I got robbed by a sweet old lady on a motorized cart. I didn’t even see it coming.”

Dratted Heavy Book

Four books I’d recommend:

  1. The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.
  2. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.
  3. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
  4. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas.

Four places I’ve lived:

  1. In my parents’ place.
  2. In my current place.

Yeah… I haven’t done a lot of moving around.

Flying Over Kauai22

Four places I’ve been:

  1. Disneyland. And then again because I kind of love it a lot.
  2. Hawaii. Once to Oahu, and again to Kauai.
  3. Vegas more times than I care to admit…
  4. Park City, UT for Blend 2014.

Four places I’d rather be right now:

  1. Snowboarding in the Alps.
  2. Sipping on an espresso in a cafe in Paris.
  3. Eating gelato while strolling through Venice.
  4. Behind the wheel of an exotic sports car.

Four things I don’t eat:

  1. Peanuts, obviously… I don’t have a death wish.
  2. Fish, seafood, and anything that even closely resembles it in taste/texture/smell.
  3. Liver and any sort of organ meat. No. Just no 😯
  4. Overly hot/spicy foods. My tongue is a wimp. So is my stomach.

Chocolate Pudding Oats

Four of my favourite foods:

  1. Bananas.
  2. Almond butter.
  3. Oatmeal.
  4. Chocolate

As you can see, I have very grown up tastes πŸ˜‰

Watching Gossip Girl

Four TV shows that I watch:

Since I don’t really watch TV, I’ll just list off some of the older shows I love…

  1. Gossip Girl.
  2. Sex and the City.
  3. Seinfeld.
  4. Game of Thrones.

Christmas Decorations

Four things I’m looking forward to this year:

Soooo… there are less than two months left in the year, but…

  1. Christmas!! Even more so now that the snow has fallen.
  2. Snowboarding! Again… even more so now that the snow has fallen.
  3. Potentially going away for the holidays. Still in the planning stage!
  4. Being able to wear beanies. Goodbye bad hair days!

Four things I’m always saying:

  1. Eff.
  2. Awwwr!
  3. Right?!
  4. Definitely <– easily my most used word.

Four people I’m tagging in this survey:

  1. Arman.
  2. Meredith.
  3. Lucie.
  4. Jo.

Woohoo! See you guys tomorrow for a Thinking Our Loud trip recap! πŸ˜€

Signature

Your turn!! What are…
… a) Four things you don’t eat:
… b) Four jobs you’ve had:
… c) Four movies you can quote:

I legit think we could go a full day discussing Gossip Girl.

Did you know, there’s this website called ‘On Location Vacation’ where you could see where tv series were being filmed around the world and my friend saw BLAIR AND CHUCK at Central park?

PS- Chuck + Blair = Chair.
    Arman + Amanda = I don’t know.

You made me want to wear a beanie tomorrow. That and it’s been almost a week since i washed my hair lol.

I loved The Art of Racing in the Rain! I thought it’d be weird reading a book in the perspective of a dog, but it was such a cute book! And it made me want a dog more than ever.

4 things I don’t eat: nuts other than almonds (duh), bivalves (allergic to them as well), asparagus (I’ll eat it if it’s served to me, but I don’t like it enough to buy it for myself), foie gras in amounts larger than a tsp (I had a full serving of it at a restaurant once and subsequently threw it all up haha – but I tolerate it in small amounts).

Oooh this is so fun! I totally want to do a “four” survey now haha. I can totally understand how fish skeeves you but ahh it’s so delicious! Hmm I can’t really think of four foods I don’t eat, cheesecake (gross) and eggplant are two that come to mind.

Ahhh! Loved your answers, girlie! And so glad to help with the brainfunk…happens to the best of us! I’m also glad to see I’m not the only spice weenie out there. I can’t even handle medium salsa! I bought it once by mistake and one dip in was almost suicidal! Ha! I can’t believe I forgot to put GoT on my list! I can’t wait till it comes back on…you know, so I can sit huddled in the corner of my couch with my hands over my face! Lol. And I’ve been meaning to check out The Art of Racing in the Rain since you first spoke of it YEARS ago…putting it on my Goodreads list now so I don’t forget again!

Hope you’re having a great week, friend! Love you! xoxo

And good news, girl: apparently a new Dumb & Dumber is coming out- woot! Not sure if they’ll be skiing in Aspen this time round though haha!

You do have a fetish for beanies or Tooks as you call them. ??

I can probably recite some of the Lord of the Rings movies. The Hubby and I rewatch them every year when it’s cold and snowy, curled up by the fire.

I loved the little glimpses of Spoons knowledge in this post. Makes me happy.

This is kind of random but have you ever considered doing a tour of your place? Just from the random glimpses from the background of pics, it seems like your house SO neatly and nicely decorated. I would love to see your organization and things like that!

I’ve definitely considered it! But the reason I haven’t [yet] is because my house isn’t really ‘done.’ Like… there are so many places that just feel incomplete — I’ve been living here for 3 years and I have yet to actually hang anything on the walls πŸ˜† Hopefully I get hit with some motivation soon!

I can’t think of four thing I wouldn’t eat, weird. There’s lots of thing I don’t eat, but I definitely would want to! πŸ˜‰ And there is that “definitely” word again. Such a crutch word.

I detest cauliflower, celery, pickles and something we have in Trinidad called callaloo. I’m sure there are other things but those are all I can think of right now. And of course they are all healthy foods. fml.
Also, my goal this winter is to buy a beanie I like and actually wear it. Can’t deal with making my hair look presentable everyday haha

I am the worst at quoting movies! I honestly can’t remember one quote from any movie I’ve ever seen. I don’t think that part of my brain works πŸ˜‰ As for foods, I’m not super picky and I’ll eat almost anything but a few things that I prefer to avoid include: tongue, heart, eel, and insects!

Oh my god I’m not alone!!! I literally have no recollection of anything actually SAID in any of the movies I watched…even my favorites! And when people quote something and then look at me and laugh (as if I’m supposed to know what they are talking about) it’s just a bunch of dead air ha.

Monty Python!!! Yeeeeeeeees. I think that was my favorite movie when I was little and j would ask to watch it nearly every weekend. Not that I probably even understood half of it at that age…lol! But I loved it all the same! I forever wanted someone to follow me around clapping coconuts together as I mimed galloping!
