. fabulous and not so fabulous .

December 13, 2013 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 74 Comments

Because there’s a good and bad side to everything…

Fabulous… the success of the first Thinking Out Loud linkup. Floored. Absolutely floored. In no way, shape, or form did I expect such a positive response on the first run, and you guys absolutely blew me away. I seriously had such a blast reading all of your random thoughts, especially because it introduced me to a lot of new-to-me blogs that I’m kind of smitten with. Definitely looking forward to making it a weekly thing here on Spoons, and there’s now a special page for it up top ^^ for anyone who wants to learn more.

Not so fabulous… having to wait another week to do it again 🙁

Fabulous… it’s Friday!

It's Friday

Not so fabulous… Despicable Me 2 is now out on DVD, but I can’t watch it because I put it on my wish list and have to wait until Christmas to open it. But!… it’ll make Christmas extra special 😀

Fabulous… spending a cozy night by the fire with the tree all lit up.

Cozy Fireplace

Not so fabulous… spending a cozy night by the fire with the tree all lit up because my furnace stopped working and I literally couldn’t move more than 3 feet away from the fireplace without the risk of freezing.

Fabulous… mooching heat by hanging out in my building’s gym.

Warm Gym Time

Not so fabulous… having to go back to my cold condo after 20 minutes because I couldn’t last on the treadmill any longer than that. Okay that’s a lie. I was in there for 40 minutes, but 20 of those minutes were spent “stretching” (read: browsing the internet on my iPad) on the mat.

Fabulous… coming up with a delicious new recipe for a thick and creamy kabocha pudding.

Kabocha Pudding

Not so fabulous… not paying attention to the measurements, thereby not being able to share it with you guys. DO OVER!

Fabulous… heading to the mountains tomorrow! Whoop whoop!

Cloudy Mountain Top

Not so fabulous… still needing to pack for aforementioned trip to the mountains.

Fabulous… The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug comes out today!

The Hobbit 2

Not so fabulous… the fact that I probably won’t be able to see it until I get back next week…

Fabulous… Christmas — T minus 12 days.

Keep Calm Santa

Not so fabulous… Christmas shopping — I haven’t even started 😯

Happy Friday [the 13th], friends!

Your turn! What’s been:
Fabulous…
Not so fabulous…
And… how are you doing on your Christmas shopping?
OH! AND… anything special on your Christmas list that you can’t wait to get?

My little brother saw Hobbit and loved it. He said it was way better than the first one. I could not sit through t hat movie though. 2 hours and 45 minutes? ehhh…
How awful that your furnace isn’t working! I’d camp out in the gym too. I am so “guilty” of the whole playing with my phone while “stretching” thing. But I often plank and play with my phone so hey whatever distracts me from the pain in my core best, right?
Your tree, by the way, is gorgeous!

OMG!! How are you even still alive?! Wait…do you still have all of your fingers and toes?! Count them…I’ll wait! 😉 But seriously girlie, I hope that furnace of yours is back up and working…I can’t even imagine! But I will say that pic of your tree with the fire is beautiful…like it came from a magazine! Oh and I’m totally jealous…of your tree AND your fireplace!

Fabulous is being done with all my Christmas shopping save for a few stocking stuffers. Not so fabulous is the mountainous pile of gifts that I now have to wrap! They’ve all been sitting in my living room for over a week now staring at me! Lol

I have been known to ‘stretch’ for an extra long time at my gym too as I browse the internet 😉

    Your tree looks so pretty!

I’m definitely joining in the Thursday thoughts link up this week for sure!

Can’t wait for that pudding recipe when you figure out what the measurements were.

Hope you get your heat fixed soon!!

Fabulous: It’s snowing our first storm of the year!
Not so fabulous: We had to cancel out door family pictures this afternoon because of the storm.

This is a cute post idea. I hope your heat is back on and working or at least will be by the time you’re back home.
I can’t wait to see the Hobbit either, although since the Hubby is still in school for another week, I’ll be waiting right along with you.
Not So Fabulous: staying at work until 7:30 last night (2 Friday’s in a row and too many other weekday nights too).
Fabulous: getting a huge project done that’s been on my work wish list for three months now. It also had to be done by the 31st of this month, so it feels incredible to get it done early and not leave it until the last minute.
    Happy snowboarding.

I’m so excited about the new Hobbit movie! But I’m going to wait to see it because I hate battling the lines at the the movie theatre. 😛

What’s been fabulous for me: I’m loving my latest internship rotation, I watched The Holiday with a friend last night, and I’ve been enjoying hanging out with my sister since she got home. Not so fabulous? We’re in the midst of a bit of a snowstorm, so I think my plans may be cancelled for the day.

Oh I’m always so jealous of your ‘trips to the mountains’ :), so fun & exciting. Have a blast ( & be safe cos snowboarding looks kinda terrifying).

Wow…from that barely there Christmas tree to THAT….amazing. I’m envious you have a fireplace! What could be more perfect than that being inside when its freezing outside! Haha, most of my tweeting/instagram stalking is done at the gym- truth… oops.

Fabulous- FINALLY perfecting a pancake recipe
Not so fabulous- Running out of your new love child, coconut flour, so need to restock to recreate one last time…

Have fun snowboarding buddy! No faceplanting the snow please.

How dare you not take proper measurements for your kabocha pudding 😉 I want some.
And hopefully the heat gets kicking soon! I can’t really imagine being without heat in cold ol’ Edmonton.
Oh and congrats on the success with Thinking Out Loud!!! I have to put a post together for next week! Excited you got such a positive outcome from it! Now I just have to catch up at some point!
