. thinking out loud #58 .

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. And just like that, it’s all over… I love Christmas, but I could definitely do without the lull that comes after. There’s so much excitement leading up to the big day, and then poof — it’s over in the blink of an eye 😄 What’s say we have a second round?!? šŸ˜€

2. Actually, I’m not sure I could handle a second round… Thank goodness for stretchy pants is all I can say.

3. Besides, today is anything but lull-y up here in Canadaland — it’s Boxing Day. That’s basically the Canadian equivalent of Black Friday, which means that I’ll be holing up at home to avoid the boxing match madness that is the mall. Actually, I may venture out for a little while if I start feeling brave, but I’m thinking that a date on the couch with these guys is much more likely to happen…

Minions for Christmas

4. ā€¦ especially since Santa was pretty good to me this year. A few favourites?

It's All Good

It’s All Good by Gwyneth Paltrow.

Arm Candy

Arm candy.

Beats by Dre

Beats by Dre studio headphones.

The Last Unicorn

The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle.

Magic Bullet

Magic Bullet (I beat my last one into the ground).

5. ā€¦ aaaaaand…

Naked3

It took almost 3 weeks, but my Naked3 palette finally found its way to my door — just in time for Christmas. I’ve only managed to use it once so far, but it was definitely love at first swatch.

6. I made a gingerbread house yesterday! Well… sort of. Can I still call it a gingerbread house if it doesn’t contain a single piece of gingerbread? Mine is made from foam and glitter and it’s absolutely fabulous

Gingerless Gingerbread

7. Also fabulous? The fact that my Advent calendar goes all the way up to New Year’s Day. Six more days of [ridiculously small] chocolates for me!

New Year Calendar

8. Speaking of New Year’s… can you believe it’s the last Thursday of 2013? It’ll be 2014 by this time next week, and you wanna know one of my favourite parts about the start of a new year? The start of a new planner šŸ˜‰ I was one of those people who would always write down every single assignment, exam, essay, meeting, etc. in my planner at the beginning of a new school year, and the habit hasn’t died despite the fact that I’ve already graduated. What can I say? I’m obsessed with lists.

New Planner

9. Also [still] obsessed with kabocha. Confession: I found one sitting on the counter when I was over at my parents’ house yesterday, and I may or may not have ninja roasted it despite the fact that there was already tonnes of other food to eat. No shame.

Roasted Kabocha

10. Aaaaaaaand now it’s your turn! I expect things to be a little quiet today since it’s the holidays and all, but the show party must go on!

Awww, yay!! So glad you finally got your Naked palette! I’ve only used mine once too since I’ve been gravitating more toward earthy tones lately I’ve been using my Naked 2 almost every day. Santa was especially good to you this year…love the bracelets!

I’m glad you had a good, if small and low key, Christmas. Mine is actually always very low key even though we have some family come in from out of town, and honestly I kind of like it that way. I hope your mom is feeling better, though! And yay for Despicable Me 2! I watched it a couple weeks ago but didn’t want to say anything because I knew you were saving yourself for Christmas. šŸ˜‰

Teach me how to do makeup. Please? Pretty please? I always buy myself fancy eyeshadows, but I have NO idea how to do cool contouring things. I love the bracelets you got. Adorable.

You’ll have to let me know how the Gwyneth Paltrow book is!!

Deal! Come visit and I’ll give you a makeover šŸ˜€ Not that you need one, but they’re just fun. You might want to wait a few months until it warms up though — Canadian winters are no joke.

I’m all for a second round of Christmas! I’m still feeling the holiday cheer due to more family parties and New Years Eve coming up, but it really does feel eerily quiet and slightly depressing after all the excitement and rush of the holidays.

I haven’t actually used a planner since I was in school because of all the calendars on my phone and computer, but if there’s one thing that I’ll never stop doing- it’s handwritten lists. No technology will ever feel as good as handwritten organization!

Where did you get that arm candy??? LOVE the bracelets!!

I’m totally a pen and paper calendar type. Computer ones just add so much complication!

I just found your blog via The Athletarian. You’ve made me smile and feel normal during this ice-storm.

I also luuuurve those bracelets. Where are they from?

And, today I’m happy about getting a new calendar to write my marathon training schedule for my wall. Literally my wall. If I don’t walk by it everyday, it doesn’t exist.

Aww well thanks, Melanie! For the bracelets — I’m not actually too sure where they’re from. I got them for Christmas, so they came from under the tree šŸ˜†

    Merry Christmas!!!!! šŸ˜€
And ditto for the stretchy pants – I don’t own any that I can wear with people over at our house, so I spent the day in skinny jeans and once my grandparents left, I jumped into sweats šŸ™‚

I couldn’t even imagine spending the evening in skinny jeans… I guess that’s the good thing about only having immediate family around for the holidays šŸ˜€

I too was that person who had to write down everything – pshh who am I kidding, I do the same thing to this day. Call me crazy, but I ordered a new planner a little over a week ago for the 2014 and I can hardly wait for it to arrive šŸ™‚ like I had forgotten about it for a few hours until I read this post. Ha Ha!
